Not sure if 'pee li' here refers to 'drank' or 'yellow', but it doesn't make sense either way.

Yea, another strange comparison. I'm sure it means drank. It's probably supposed to be something like, "I absorbed your laugh and felt the same bliss that you felt." I don't know...just speculating.

Its i think ...Music directors make tune first...then they write the lyrics....so they try to make match lines with tunes...so like this happen......😳😊

I love Gulzzar sab...he is a gr8 poet....but some situation, he write some meaningless lines too😊

You sure about that? lol. btw, what name should I call you by? I don't want to refer to you as shady. 😆

Well the real name's Shadaab - but Shady's more informal, or 'cooler' (plus it's easier for the Americans to pronounce 😆). I was also called 'Shaddu' back in high school. 😳

awww...well, we're not trying to be negative here. Everyone has their own style. Gulzar's is just one that some of us have trouble understanding. If you're referring to my comments about Sameer, I apologize. I just honestly don't think he's really a shayer. He just knows how to use the same nice words over and over again...and rhyme them.

Nice to meet you Shadaab! Nice name. 😃

I'm Rabia, but I've been going by Suhana online. Either name is fine.

Sorry to barge in...but just wanted to say a wonderful topic!!!

I had started the topic on Gulzar in the DM and like others mentioned taht one didnt go very far...

I personally love Gulzar's lyrics...when u kinda understand the subtle nuances they are such a treat...his sense of humour is sweet and subtle too...like a feather tickling your feet( or maybe ur heart)... 😊

In the few places where his shayari has raised question marks I would love to believe that it is us the listeners who haven't been able to understand where he is coming from rather than a weakness in his poetry!!
( ya this may sound as a volte face, but the topic on DM was just for the sake of Debate 😉 )

here are some of the feather tickling toes( heart) moments of Gulzar
"Yaad to hogi, kuch bhooli bisri,
Aise hi barsi thi chaand se misri
Chaand ko chabane ki raat aayi hai ( 👏 jeeyo)
Hoton Pe Beeti Baat aayi hai" from the film Angoor!

" Ik din dekhi ik choti si sapni" from Golmaal! 😛

Listen to it at

Let me try taking a stab at analyzing this bit 😆

The whole idea revolves around human fascination with stars and "reaching for the stars" or "wanting something unattainable".

When stars arrive on Earth and burn in their fine glory here, the earth becomes the proverbial sky and we no longer need to crane our necks heavenwards to catch a mere glimpse of them.

In other words, "Ghar ki murgi daal barabar" 😛
