Seemaji, one small mistake I observed in one of the taans(I myself hv sung this song in numerous competitions, so remember the song properly). In the first antara, the taan goes like
'Sanidhama dhanisa, gama gamadhanisa, resare dhanisaresani saresani, dhanini dhanini dhani madhadha madhadha madha,garegamadhani..Saja shringara ritu aayi basanti...'

Instead of 'garegamadhani'(in the bold portion), u sang 'saregamadhani'. Otherwise, it was good.

Great observation. You should be a judge in the next contest. 👏

Thanks Abhi, you are very kind to say such good things about my singing. I really enjoyed singing this song, wouldn't have even thought in my dreams of attempting this song. I thank Bhaskar & Barnali for suggesting this song and even thinking I can attempt to sing such complicated song.

I agree, I should have paid more attention to the taan than simply relying on the lyrics provided on musicindiaonline. Infact listening to the original song, I hear it as "SaReGaMaDhaNi" , but its definitely problems with my ears 😊
Thanks lifeztuf (sorry, don't know your real name) , now I will always remember the right sargam.

Sahana, first of all thanks for taking time in giving such detailed analysis on each finalist's singing. Its so true, I was also too scared to attempt this song. we have a small group of music lovers in the city where I live and 2 of my friends always sing this song. whatever little I could do in this song, credit definitely goes to those 2 friends and specially to the female singer as she helped me perfect some alaap. Taking up one of the most difficult classical song in HIndi films, full credit goes to BarnaliDi & Bhaskar, else I wouldn't even have thought of choosing this one.

Seema: Frankly when I saw that you had chosen "Kuhu kuhu bole koyaliya" I was too scared to listen to it! This is one song I can't bear to see anyone taking liberties with. But Seema you carried yourself so well! I really want to applaud you for not only taking up one of the most difficult classical songs in Hindi films but also doing minimum damage to it! In fact, you sang both the first and 2nd second ragas quite well. Only Chandrika was a little flawed. Even Sarasa Raat Man Bhaaye Priyatama was well done.

In the masti song, I would have liked to see more masti otherwise no mistakes in sur. The song you selected is a good one. You deserve to be in the Finals and you are giving good competition to other singers.

👏 👏 👏 to all of you for displaying superb form in the Finale and raising its standard. May God bless all of you for giving us so much joy with your singing.

The only problem I always have is with the song choice. This is the first time I heard this song from Sardari Begum and somehow I feel that as a composition, this one lags behind the great compositions made by the dead and departed composers. If you were in my gharana I would have made you sing "Manamohana badey jhoote" from Seema. Otherwise your singing left nothing to be desired!

We picked this song after much thought and discussion.

Yes, perhaps its a risk picking a song which isn't that popular, but we've taken it and we're ready for the results, whatever they may be. 😊

Heard all the songs finally. Have been ill for the past couple of days, so couldn't post feedback.

Ashish - You were superb in both songs this time around. I want to hear you yodel in Swiss mountain-tops!

Seema - Great effort with the classical piece, which is really a tough one. I think you've been strained for the past couple of weeks for some reason. Please do some yoga or breathing exercises; it will help you to avoid the long pauses in between lines.

Raju - Voice quality is as usual superb. Please continue practicing scales and make yourself very very pakka with them. I felt you went a little off here and here, though nothing was very very noticeable. You must participate in the next SRGMP challenge for sure.

Now that C2007 is over and IF SRGMP is almost over, I think I will have to be treated for withdrawal symptoms 😆

Since this thread has gone somewhat thanda, I thought I would add some interesting tidbits regarding my choice of songs for the final round.

I had initially selected 'Jyoti Kalash' by Lata as my classical song. Two good friends of mine dissuaded me from going with it. They felt I should select a male song which was 'more classical'. That is when I selected 'Man Tarpat'. Barnali ji also agreed. I owe thanks to those two friends and to Barnali ji.

For the masti song, my first choice was actually 'Main hoon jhum jhum jhumroo'. 'Piya Piya' was my second choice. Since Jhumroo was a more difficult number, I thought I would perfect 'Piya Piya' first and keep it as backup. However, once it was perfected, I just did not have the time and inclination to practice the Jhumroo song.

OK, I did my bit to 'garmofy' this thread 😆 .
