Thats what I am saying. Dont overtly praise her or give her star status, nor be trashed like garbage.

One or two performances are not enough to judge the potential to shower extreme emotion. she excelled in one, she flopped in another one. lets wait and see the next one, if she flops again or shines again...

She is also a novice. rate her that way....as one would rate others.

If you have read any of my other posts , you would have seen that I was critical of her last performance as much as rests are.

But that is because there she needed it. At the same time I also really enjoyed her first performance .It was mindblowing ! I have also said that just a single good performance cannot make one star or a single bad performance does not make one the worst singer ever.

Whether she shakes or not I couldn't care less, her singing shook me on that maiyya maiyya day,that much I can tell you.

It would be rather silly to judge one on a single performance. Need atleast a few to do that.

I am surprised that people find her so besura especially in Maiyya Maiyya ...so what were the mentotrs and judges doing, or haven't any of these current generation MD's/singers have any sur taal sense or what?

If I remember Ashaji's comment to her after her second performance, she had told her that you are very good in the item number, try to diversify and she had also told her that whatever she had sung that day, she was very good. Now even Ashaji has no idea of sur taal..?

If Mauli wants to become a playback singer she has to rise above one song. But it is totally wrong i feel that the way people take potshots at her.

Critic her where she desereves it, appreciate her where she deserves it too.

i did not critique any specific performance. just said she cant be a one hit girl forever.😛

If others are novices, she is too, why pick only her?

maybe coz she is more of one. for example, mayya or no mayya, she sould have been out, not jyoti. my opinion of course😉

He was a finalist in 'Sa Re Ga Ma Megafinal' in 1998, I think. Parthiv can really sing. This is a home video, yet you can see how good he is.

you cannot bring Parthiv in this discussion, Parthiv was supposed to be an active participant in the actual song recording of HDDCS, you are comparing a proffesional singer to a novice. If you watch companion video's to that, he even makes Nihira and Himani look offcolor in that series.

Parthiv is one of the best talents to ever come out of this show and it took him a while to reach where he reached now

If she's rated at the level of other equally good contestants, then she'll be critiqued in the same fashion as the others. But if she is constantly rated as the 'reason for watching SRGMP' and 'a sureshot for final', then her bad performances will be just as strongly criticized.

Actually check the comments against Mauli here, they range anywhere from singing to personal appearance and come from the same sources, tells you, you gotta take them with the seriousness they come😉

One member actually didnt even hear the song and said it is another version of Maiya Maiya😆, tells you how much they are hearing and how much they are looking😉

OK, maybe I am biased by Parthiv's performance. However, even if I were to judge Mauli's rendition by itself, I would not give it very high marks. And BTW, even if you watch Parthiv's performances on SRGM when he was just a participant and not a professional, he was just too good. So not being a professional cannot be an excuse for Mauli not being up to the mark.

I was just trying to show what a great SRGM participant (a la Parthiv, Nihira, Hemu, Himani) should sound like.

I think I read somewhere he is on one of the alaaps of the original albela sajan here, but again I might be wrong he certainly was used for this song by ID

He seems to have a band, Akriti or something they were performing here in the US last year just missed it😭

Undoubtedly his so called break came about with the magnanimous project of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Devdas'. The film has Parthiv in the title song as well as in back vocals. Thereafter he has given his voice in many films, TV serials and dramas.
