i think it uwld answer the ppl who hav been scrutinizing her singing capabilities it wasnt the best of wht she can sing but still proves her mettle as a singer cuz this song is neither into the so called item numer category nor is a foot tapping one... and shes dun justice to the song to sey the least here's the link i hope it hasnt been posted before if it has been close the topic!

All she's proven is that she is a very mediocre singer. Other than Mayya Mayya, she really hasn't sung anything else really well.

That's what she is - a one-song sensation. There have been a few of these over the years.

Compared to others in the show atleast she has one song which she sang exceptionally well,in fact so well that it gets included in a serial and in evry show she is requested to sing it.

name another participant who shook the stage the same way and has been asked for an encore....

but why is that a criteria for picking the best singer? i mean no hit, however big, remains a hit for a long time nowadays. all that shaking gotta stop sooner or later, no?😆

But run down specifically her only ? So what if she shakes or not? its her song which should decide how well she performed. She performed poorly when compared to others that day in the last round but did not get out of the contest.

what about Joy , nirupama ? they too were not worthy of green card that day, yet they got it, how come that is no trouble.

Should an accomplished classical singer also be run down if an item number by this clkassical singer is not 100% up to the mark ?

So what if she sang a item number? is there a rule in the contest that says one cannot sing item number?

Did she that day go and tell HR that please request me to sing maiyya maiyya again? Now is giving a great first performance also is something bad,is it?

you are getting off somewhere else now.😛 you were giving the impression that she deserved to go far because she had the most successful song so far. in response, i was asking why a one-song evaluation is a criteria for picking the best singer in a multi-round multi-song competition. you've still not answered the question imo. and yes, the shaking that i had up there was for the stage, not her. wasnt running her down, just explaining why no hit lasts forever. but come to think of it, she does shake well, no?😉😆

She is completely besura. My God, did she sing this in front of the mentors?
I could not stand even hearing it! I hope that she woud do a better job on

No I was not. Seems you missed out on some points or looking to read only points of choice. What I said there was, compared to others she has atleast one song to speak for her by which others remember her. If you have read any of my other posts , you would have seen that I was critical of her last performance as much as rests are. But that is because there she needed it. At the same time I also really enjoyed her first performance .It was mindblowing ! I have also said that just a single good performance cannot make one star or a single bad performance does not make one the worst singer ever.

Whether she shakes or not I couldn't care less, her singing shook me on that maiyya maiyya day,that much I can tell you.

It would be rather silly to judge one on a single performance. Need atleast a few to do that.

I am surprised that people find her so besura especially in Maiyya Maiyya ...so what were the mentotrs and judges doing, or haven't any of these current generation MD's/singers have any sur taal sense or what?

If I remember Ashaji's comment to her after her second performance, she had told her that you are very good in the item number, try to diversify and she had also told her that whatever she had sung that day, she was very good. Now even Ashaji has no idea of sur taal..?

If Mauli wants to become a playback singer she has to rise above one song. But it is totally wrong i feel that the way people take potshots at her.

Critic her where she desereves it, appreciate her where she deserves it too.

If others are novices, she is too, why pick only her?

I suppose the reason people are picking on Mauli is because she's been put on a pedestal higher than the other contestants. If she's rated at the level of other equally good contestants, then she'll be critiqued in the same fashion as the others. But if she is constantly rated as the 'reason for watching SRGMP' and 'a sureshot for final', then her bad performances will be just as strongly criticized.

You cannot be extreme in your praise of Mauli and expect others to be moderate in their criticism of her.
