Seema sung the clasicall song very well. Very sweet voice.

Vidhya i started the song and went back to the forum because it was still loading and all of a sudden it started playing i thought that i played the actual song in the music.

rana_369 very nicelly sung. 👏 👏

Review and Feedback Time...Yipeeeee 😃

Sur_Sangam Gharana

Ashish Narvekar: Ashish, I have lost count of words in praise of your voice. It is just so deep that yuo seem to fill the ambience. Your surs were right, except for a couple of places specially when you sang Sulag Sulag...the second sulag was a little "hila hua"😆. I know I am nitpicking here but there is nothing left for me😛. Overall, very high impact and excellent rendition👏

Seema: Your voice is simply wonderful. You do have problem holding breath. The continuity seem to get lost in several places where there should have been no breakage and I think it is because of the breath problem that in a few places, you half-ate a few words. At the end of each stanza....you end up with Raina Beet Ja.. It should be Raina Beet Ja"ye"...again nitpicking but the competition is reaching a stage where I have to nitpick.. Good impact Seema, but need to control your breath. Also in the end of the songs, there were lots of fades in your voice...Good Job.👏

Lavanya: I really enjoyed your music you gave between mukhda and antara...that tan tana tan tana tun tun tun thingy...😆...That set the mood of the song...It showed that you were into the mood of the song...👏...Unfortunately, the overall impact of the song was low. Possibly because of the absence of the music from song...Look Lavanya..This is a more of a rock song and singing a rock song w/o music is risky..Very good attempt..👏

Cindu: Sindhu. In my opinion, your voice is tailormade for rocking songs because it contains a lot of base. You attempted this song very well. There is a certain "shaitani" behind this song which I found missing...the expession is what I am talking about....I will tell you that your alaap in the antara was very good. The seond paragraph starts with that "angnara" line...it is sung in Rajesthani style in the original song...that touch was missing...Overall, although the expression was amiss, the impact was good, you surs and layas were in place. Great job..👏

Alaap Gharana

Raju: Great experssion Raju!! You truly captured the mood of the song specially with that faux voice which is the heart and soul of this song. 👏👏👏. FLAWLESS PERFORMANCE. OUTSTANDING and I have no further words to describe your rendition...I heard it twice..👏. Started strong and finished strong.👏

Sarita: Wonderful voice Sarita. Decent expression although not outstanding....could have been a lot better. Why did you hurry the song, Sarita...Listen to the song yourself and you will realize that the song sounded hurried. Another idea...put the real song and your song on together para by para and you will know what I am talking about...You would realize that your speed was far more forced that the actual song. I know without music it is difficult to follow the pace of the song but you have to kind of follow the music in your brain and sing to that tune...Other than that...a good rendition. 👏

Pawan: Pawan Pawan Pawan...You started strong...but there were problems in holding your sur...there were lots of inconsistencies...Hear the song and you will realize that you did not pick the sur when you started the antara from where you had left it at the end of mukhda...and your shurs were shaky within the antara as well, there were loss of surs in between pauses. I enjoyed the beginning with your rendition of kukoroo kuku kuku😆...But overall impact was low,my friend. However, an ovation for a good attempt👏

Bandish Gharana

Aparna Gadgil: As usual, your voice quality was nothing short of outstanding. I have no nitpicking comments, Aparna. Another outstanding rendition of an outstanding Gulzaar composition.👏

Mamta: Nothing to take away from your voice Mamta. Your surs were mostly in place. The transitions between Antara and Mukhda were mostly seamless. But the most outstanding part of the song was the ultimate high pitch which you sang FLAWLESSLY towards the end of each stanza...👏...The seond para, I thought you started in a higher pitch than usual which made your slightly nasal tone even more prominent. But overall impact: Wonderful. If I were a stickler I would cut 5% for that nasal tone..😉..You still get 95%👏

Vidhya: Good voice...normal pace....this is what I call hearing the music in your mind and pacing your song accordingly...There were some problems with dictions in few places....Hear the lines..."Aaj tum itna waada karte jaana" or "Ek din dikhla doonga main deewana" and you will know what I mean....expression which is always a highlight of Aashaji's song was quite good. Overall Impact: Good👏

Moon: Moon...Right off the block, I have to say that the nasal tang was very prominent. The original song had a lot vibration which was missing from your song and it is not an easy thing to do...It will be difficult to match the original singer of this song...The surs at high pitch were a little shaky. Overall Impact: Enjoyable but requires improvment.

Padmaja: Padmaja...I don't know where you sang this song but the ambience seemed to have some sort of an echo and that added to the overall impact of the song😆😆. Unfortunately, your surs were shaky in antaras "Example: Koi sab pehchane". You definitely had an issue with high pitch which is why I thought you ended the high pitch rendition a little prematurely. Diction was good. Overall Impact: Low..but an appluase for a good attempt👏👏👏

Jhankaar Gharana

Nik: Nik...my lone ranger friend from Jhankaar gharana....I cannot forget your rendition of the Ya Ali yet. You have chosen another outstanding song to render. I must say, you are quite an adventurous guy, Nik.So my first appluase to that👏👏Nik buddy....My expectation from you are stratospheric high...Let me tell you this....the original singer (and then Hemachandra) sang this song with a deep gravity in their voices...I was somehow missing that gravity but that has nothing to do with you because your voice is different. Your surs were mostly very firm except a couple of places. The vibration in the voice was there at right places...And that alaap of Ramta Jogi...Ramta Jogo..Ramta Jogi ending with Jogi..jogi..jogi..jogi was phenomenally good, Nik....It was difficult to hold the breath but you did an outstanding if not perfect job. Over Impact: 97% (I am pinching 3% for that missing gravity😉)👏...Good to hear your voice again..Keep it up buddy!!

Aparna : beautifully sung again aparna.👏 Maybe at few places u shifted from the actual tune and gave your own touch. But they are not sounding out of place. Technically perfect. Luved the emotion u brought into the song.My own personal view. I would hav luved u to sing some soft RDB number from the 70's.

Ashish : I hav already given u the feedback. U hav done full justice to the song. One of my very fav songs by kishore.Luved the feeling u brought into the song but would hav luved if some more feeling was brought. It seemed as if something little bit was missing somewhere. But technically again perfect.

Cindu : Perfect song selection sindhu. I maintained earlier too u are among those who can cause upset in these late rounds. But u need to make proper song selection. I just felt that though technically u are perfect but more masti was needed in the song. The feeling is missing.Come on sindhu, now it's the later stages. No margin of error can be made. Things are getting tough from this stage now.So gear up.

Satita : wow!😃 That's what I would say about your song. one of my very very fav song and u sung it perfectly. The masti, zing that is needed in the song is there and sur taal all perfect.👏

Kalpa : Nicely sung. Much much better than last time. But lost scale at places. "Samay ka yeh pal" here at the end u needed to go bit more high. Something u maintained in the next line where u sing "khoye saare sapne…" but very well attempted.

Lavanya : again a wow. U hav also sung very well this time again.Brought perfectly the zing and masti into the song.👏 Perfect 👏👏👏

Mamta : Done full justice to the song.👏

Moon : U always do well in such masti songs and hav done the same this time round too.Good selection too. ARR songs are difficult to sing without background music so the choice will hav to be made very carefully.U made the perfect choice.👏

Nik : I hav always told u nik that your voice suits such songs best. And I am really happy u choose this song. its unfortunate that u could not record the final version. But nik what u hav sung in this song is worth submitting, worth calling the final version.👏 With the corrections done even this song has come out really superb. I just luved the part where is u sing "oye oye oye oye" U brought the effect almost close to the original number.

Pawan : Pawan somehow I feel u could hav sung this song much better.😊 U lost scale also at places. It luks like u hav sung the song without your heart into the song. U hav always sung such songs so well in the earlier rounds. Now u need to be more perfect. Just one error may cause elimination. hope u would keep do better in the next round.

Raju : just superb!😃 Everything perfect in this round again.👏 Last round I forgot to give the feedback so will tell now. U lacked the feeling in the Bengali song. but this time again u are back in the race for top position.

Seema : Again really very very well sung.👏👏👏 Perfect selection too. At places felt u failed to bring the feeling into the song. luked like u were more attentive as to sing it perfectly so missed out in bringing the feeling into the song.

Tina : Vidya u sung it very well in this round. No critical comment here in this round.👏

Mamta, Ashish, Sindhu and all other participants...

My comments should not be a one way street. I expect rebuttal to my comments. Let me elaborate. I am no music expert. My comments are based totally on my perception and my hearing senses. I would like to hear from you whether you agree with these comments or am I wrong in my perception. If I am wrong I would like to correct my perception going forward and provide a more robust feedback. Sort of....learning from all of you.

So again...please provide rebuttal to my comments.😃

Manish,
there are some things that are subjective. You may like somebody's style of singing or somebody's nasal twang when others don't care for it much. There is not much you can rebut there. It is a matter of taste. However, there are other more objective criteria like if somebody is singing in sur, taal. These are measurable criteria in my opinion and can be argued. To make a long story short, I will only provide rebuttals to what I think are measurable criteria.

In that vein, you said that my sur for 'Rim Jhim' was mostly right except for a couple of places, especially the second sulag sulag. I don't agree with that. I heard my rendition again to see if you were right about it. I also compared it to the original KK version. If you notice, the second sulag sulag is more drawn out for effect. Mine is even more pronounced than in the original. That is the only difference. I could not detect any hilna in the sur. Listen to the original and mine again and if you still feel the sur is amiss, we can PM each other about it so that we don't bore everybody else reading this thread 😆
