Yo Adi! Thanks 😊

What warm-ups? I thought you just said HOTSEAT 😛

The SRGMP section is just so lively! What's more? It's giving me ideas on the new forms of social networking and content creation and exchange. Ok, ok, that was the social-science researcher in me. Chuck that! It's just fun pal that's what.

Hey! I had GRAND plans of sitting up and listening to the retro specials on the week-end morning. I even got me-self a new headphone and mic [thanks to a certain special someone's very special ways of specially annoying people on Skype 😡] But...hmmm I had to please my in-laws with my non-existent culinary skills. So, into the kitchen I did go and out I did come with toasted egg sandwiches all burnt ...and a heavy heart that I missed the special!

As soon as I figure out how it's to be heard and adjusted on my lappietoppie, I shall tune in! I'm tech challenged you see 😕

All threads on raagas / raaginis / music directors / musical instruments I found interesting. Pity they are so few and far between to come by these days.

7 favourite songs? Ok this is going to be slightly different from the list that I gave in before sometime back in this thread 😛 And it's again going to be more than 7😕

- Nanhi kali sone chali [Geeta Dutt - but I love the version my mom used to sing, when I was a kid - that was far, far better than GD's]
- Zulmi sang aankh ladi [Madhumati]
- Pyaasi ankhiyaan tumhe pukaare, ruk jaao banvaasi raam [God knows. But, for the kind that gives me an MP3 version of it, I shall always give a special place in my ...head!]
- Jab raat nahin kat-ti zindagi kaise kategi [Lata]
- Mujhe tumse muhobbat hai, magar mein keh nahin sakta [Rafi]
- Ab ke baras bhej bhaiyya ko babul [Asha]
- Na milta gham to barbaadi ke afsaane kahaan jaate [Lata]
- Edleweiss [Sound of music]
- Sound of silence [Simon-and-G'unkel] 😉
- Annie's song [Jon Denver]

My birthday? Oh, sometime during the end of July. MGM people totally loved my sign 😉 Now, that's a clue!

Describe myself? Love the limelight and yet shy away from it. Love to be heard and yet scared of saying the wrong things. Love to be the doer, but scared of consequences. Love to dream, but need oodles of motivation and encouragement from loved ones and their reassurance [which they do give me. God bless them] and belief in me.

From a certain somebody, who said [in a very looooong e mail] that I made him realize that marriage was just about the only thing worth living for 😳

This long e-mail writer continues to be my inspiration till date [apart from of course my darling parents and sis]

Advil- I already answered the friend bit 😛 But, I would definitely love to know all of you better!!

Smugness; know-all'ness; self righteousness; arrogance; Kumar Sanu and Himesh Reshamiya-ness

*Rubs her hands together in glee* My favorite topic!!

- It's a wonderful life [Nicely woven together, with a clear moral message and yet so naturally made. Nothing contrived about it. No frills and fancies. Just simple, direct and heart-warming. It does actually make you go back to your stinky office and dingy home, with a song in your heart and a whistle on your lips - that life is indeed wonderful. And of course, the fact that Jimmy Stewart is there, just makes that life even more worthwhile!! 😳]

- Mr. Smith goes to Washington [Again a Jimmy Stewart starrer. Frank Capra has once again done a great job of driving home a simple message - if you believe in yourself, the world conspires to have you fulfill your dream. The Senate; the Congress session; the filibustering has been captured vividly, whilst retaining the typical Capra humour. Brilliant piece]

- Roman Holiday [The whole movie actually is a build up to the final scene, when you can't but cry at the helplessness of Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn. Each caught in their ken of duty and doing what's socially acceptable. The humour and witty dialogues add the spice to this lovely creation]

- The sound of music [My all-time favourite movie. In fact, I can recite 70% of the dialogues even today. I grew up on this movie and I practically fed on it! Wonderful story set during the 'anchluss' and the 2nd World War. It appeals to the young and the old. Very realistic performances by the cast and also a brilliant musical score, which generations to come can never forget!]

- Bridge on the river Kwait [Again a war-time movie. It's brilliant in its story weaving and plot tightening. The climax is something worth watching the movie again for!]

My favourite Hollywood actor? I guess even the lightless tube would've guessed that it's Jimmy Stewart, who was, is and will always be my favourite! Why? Well, you got to see his movies and you will know why. He lives his roles so convincingly. So perfectly. You would think that he and only he should have fitted that role! I love him for the earnest, honest, sincere, loving, shy, daring, intelligent image that he portrayed on the silver screen of the golden era.

5 Hindi movies, which could have won an Oscar if they had been nominated? Hmmm.... Pyaasa, Sujata, Sholay, Seema, Abhimaan.

Sunil Dutt is my favourite and so is Nutan!

Since you are a movie buff, let me ask some questions on the topic.

List 5 Hollywood films that you regard the best ever made and give reasons.

Who is your favourite Hollywood actor and why?

Which 5 Hindi movies in your opinion could have won an Oscar had they been nominated?

Who is your favourite Hindi film actor and why? (notice that I don't use the word Bollywood). I regard 'actor' as a generic word (could be male or female).

Sahana, remember what happened the last time you made me mimic KS in front of our friends? I had no clue they were huge fans of his. And that's it...they stopped visiting us altogether 😆

You should ask her to post an MP3 of her mimicry of Kumar Sanu which will really have you rolling on the floor!

Hey thanks SS!! Pinjare mein bandh, aur chaabi kho jaaye? 😛

Ok, now to answer you...

Mantra of life - if you want to do it, just do it. If you want to say it, just say so. It's all here and now folks!

Favourite song? Ok let me change that from the previous questions 😛 I like Talat's 'Main paagal, mera manwa paagal' But there is a truck load that I also love, but which I cannot type here without risking RSI 😭

Oh, you are smart! How did you know that I did many naughty things? 😉 Well, it was today. I opened my lunch box and saw the same boring sabzi and roti. So, I decided to go out and binge on seafood at a restaurant this afternoon. After I returned home, I didn't want my mom in law to know that I hadn't eaten her roti and sabzi. So, I quietly dumped the old roties, at the bottom of the pile of fresh rotis and the sabzi, with the morning's sabzi, before she walked into the kitchen 😉

Childhood was the best, I didn't have to worry about paper presentations and research proposals 😕 And most importantly, I didn't have to worry about being diplomatic and nice. I could say and do anything and get away. People would say, "Aah, she is a child after all". Now no excuses 😭 I will have to shake hands and be nice to Kumar Sanu and Himessss, although I would love to throw a chair and a tubelight at them. And I could have done that had I been a child 😈

Life is about living and not just existing. It's about swimming and not gliding by in a sail-boat. It's about doing and not the idea of doing

Happiness is about realizing that this is happiness and grabbing it with both hands and kissing it! No thinking about the past, or the future.

Music and smile are universal, because it appeals to all. Besides, a thing of beauty is a joy forever. And that transcends borders, regions, races and time! Oh, I also want to add that a yawn is also a universal language. Just watch what happens the next time someone yawns. The world yawns with him!

Singing is pure relaxation. It's like resting one's tired body on the couch. Similarly, singing is for rejuvenating one's tired being
