First of all, a round of applause to the participants and their respective mentors on the song selections.Absolutely great choices for the voices.👏👏👏

Alaap Gharana

Contestant: Sayanu urf Raju kabi (Rana_369)
Song: Tu Hindu banega na Musalmaan banega

Raju, what a soul touching performance ! Absolutely great. The emotion of the song was so well brought out by you. It was so captivating that did not even feel the lack of any background music...too good ! You have great versatility...!👏

Contestant: Sarita (ethnos)
Song: Meethi meethi baaton se bachhna zara

This song was perfect for you. Your mentor did give u a very tough song ! Along with the main singing there was rapid dialogs in between and you had to carry it off in the same breath, without breaking the continuity. You carried it off with so much of ease that it did not seem tough at all,and the continuity of the song was not broken neither did u lose breath or or go off scale. I liked the way you said"meethi meethi" and especially the "shabaash" part, sounded so soft, proud and awed by the kid's dialogs! The kids dialogs,if you had gone sounding a bit kiddish , then the performance would have been a absolute 100 ! loved it on the whole....👏

Pawan, Saara & Divya.... where are u guys? will update their's later

Bandish Gharana

Contestant: Aparna (Aparnagadgil)

Song: Hawa dheere aana

Awesome is the word ! Absolutely mesmerising ! it felt as though a mother was really putting her child to sleep. In EMAET language, perfect chemistry ! There was so much of warmth and love in the song.Totally captivating and soothing! 👏 Infact, after hearing it I was reminded of my mom.😳

P.S.Perhaps you should present it to the forum ullu's to make them go to sleep😉😆

Contestant: Padmajaji (kalpa56)

Song: Chanda hai tu

Padmajaji you have a very sweet voice. You sang very well too. Try keeping the mike at a little distance away, so that you dont end up blowing air into it.You lost your breath at times but overall the song sounded so sweet and loving !👏

Contestant: Vidhya (tina59)

Song: Tujhse naraz nahin zindagi

A beautiful performance. It is one of my favourite song and you sang very well.Great selection of song and I think this one has been your best performance till date.👏

Contestant: Mamata (mamtalokesh)

Song: So ja chanda

You sang well. Your voice sounded a bit shrill on the higher note. perhaps you could have started the song a scale lower?Overall good show...👏

Contestant: Moon (moonlite)

Song:Phoolon ka taaron ka

Lovely song and you sang well too. This was one song where i guess one could do away with a pause to start the next stanza...You could have perhaps gone humming the music to keep the continuity or gone "hey he he he....ho- ho ho ho"...like you did in the next stanza...other than that, may be pronounce the words by opening your mouth...but other than that it was good. overall a good show...👏.

Jhankaar Gharana

Contestant: Nik (Coollamma)

Song: Surmayi ankhiyon me

A wonderful song selection. Nik, for a soothing lullaby when you dont have music to give the que, i feel one should start with the humming ,and in this case you perhaps should have started on raadi raadi raadi rum...and then started the song...I felt you had a bit of problem at the song take off which subsequently caused the little sur faltering at times.I liked the way you ended the song...!👏

Contestant: Suhana (Inaayat4)

Song: Bachhe man ke sachhe

You have a sweet voice. The song selection was good too. Totally suitable for your voice. You needed a bit more practice before recording the song. you went off key at places. otherwise good.👏

Well...will save this space for miracle....

Sur-Sangam Gharana

Contestant : Ashish (anarvekar)

Song : AaRiAa

Absolutely great ! awesome! Cant stop raving. have heard it so many times, but still feel like. You did full justice to the song, your start and finish was magical. You have a fantastic voice Ashishji and this song just sounded perfect in your voice. Dont know why but I feel you will do justice to any kishorda song, ....👏

Contestant : Biswita

Song : Bachpan ke din Bhula na dena

Biswita, good song selection. and you sang well too. I feel you should concentrate on the sur & the emotion of the song and not on the singer's style. that causes a bit of confusion. Try bringing in a little more softness and sweetness, then you will be just perfect.👏

Contestant: Seema(seemai)

Song : Bada Natkhat Hai re

A beautiful song and very well sang.A perfect song for your voice.very good selection and you did justice to the song....awesome !👏

Contestant : Sindhu(cindu)

Song : Nanha Munna Rahi Hu

A perfect song for your voice. Very good selection of song , you carried off the song so effortlessly and beautifully..its an old song too, the sur the feel of the song was intact , but you rendered it in your original style....great job !👏

Contestant : Lavanya (lava26)

Song : So Ja Chanda

Lavanya you did a great job. The starting of the song with the humming and keeping the humming on, between the stanzas, kept the lori feel very well captured. You did the high notes with ease, and the scale was just right. In fact you got the pauses also at the right places, like in the original song.Good show.👏

Gee thanks Adi! 😊 That was a very exhaustive and 'real' feedback. Thanks a lot!! Really appreciate it.

From the list I've been through, no one has sung this very popular desh bhakt, 'baccha' gaan 'nanha munna raahi hoon, desh ka sipaahi hoon'. People allergic to it kya? 😉

Adi, Ammu, Priya, Jaya, Bhaskar, Anuradha and Tanaz, thanks for taking the time to listen and provide such exhaustive feedback. It definitely helps the contestants and sustains interest in the contest.

I was wondering what we could do to improve the contest. Contestants and esp. mentors/coordinators, feel free to add your thoughts. Here are my thoughts.

- I feel the two week gap between submissions is ideal. However, mostly for logistical reasons where a mentor is travelling, the deadline gets extended beyond the two weeks. One suggestion I have for this problem is the mentor could appoint a proxy mentor who would take care of mentoring the contestants and submitting the songs.
- The submission of songs and the results of the previous round take place around the same time. As a result, the first few days or a week are spent in a lot of discussion and important feedback. After that interest wilts and there is no activity. Instead, if the results and submission dates are staggered, the threads might be livelier over a longer period of time. Maybe, the results could be announced a week before the submissions for the next round.

These are just suggestions and if the majority of contestants and mentors/coordinators feel that things are fine as they are, I am OK with that.

Good sugestion Ashish. The problem with results is mainly more because there are so many songs and then rating them individually is becomming a tenous job for the mentors. More as there are too many good singer 😆

They say that they have to listen to few too many times and then rate them. It is the judges too who asked for 15days time. Maybe at later rounds when the contestants are less this can be followed.

I understand that giving comments for each and every song is very difficult and can be tedious.

But, why not give a standard rating chart to the judges with different categories that they need to give marks in?

That chart can be then passed on to the mentors so that they know which areas contestants need to improve in.

E.g. of some categories: Melody/Rhythm/Diction/Feel
