Well Priya ji,
You have said it all in those few words.
It is THE fear that scares most of our MDs not to give credit to the original man. The inability to generate new stuff combined with false hope of getting away without anyone realising the source makes them steal music- but then you will get into a vicious cycle in quest of the original man.
For all you know the Arab man would have "drawn a little inspiration" from his composer neighbour who in turn would have been "influenced " by a good friend composer from China and so forth.
There is no way you can establish the absolute originality of music as its not exactly like research work.
I think as music lovers you must quietly enjoy what you hear without tarnishing your image of the composer etc. Its not like Himesh, Pritam etc are our best friends who have betrayed us. If what you hear is good- enjoy it and be happy. If you cant beat them ( believe me it would be tough ) -join them
Well Myths ji (sorry bit of a tongue twister there😳)
We may never be able to establish the originality of anything, as everything goes back to the age of Adam and Eve and the Apple and Snake.
Music to me is a prayer, a faith, a life line, a way of life.
A very personal opinion here again, If someone is unable to respect the purity in that music, has no qualms in just copying verbatim the creative work of another (I am for the moment assuming that he is copying stuff copied by another), I find it difficult to continue to listen to that person thereafter.
Taking the case of Anu Malik or HR or some others, who have blatantly lifted tunes and songs and have NO or ZERO creative work of their own, I find it difficult to listen to their songs without being reminded of the original and believe me, in todays age of internet, it is not so difficult to trace out the one from which the new has been copied.
Why not hear the original, when you can. Why listen to a copy.
Why watch a clone when you can watch Sachin Tendulkar play cricket?
