They may call it remix but to me they are failure. Cannot creat any thing of their own and new so thus Destroying the originality of our famous evergreen songs. this cannot make any one great singer or director . I hate these remix too. Specially the video they make. 😕

barnali di, agree with you 100%. sometimes I feel so bad the songs which we loved originally they will come up with remix that you feel like, wht did they kill such a good music.

I think remixes should completely be stopped. If you like that new kind of music then go ahead & create new songs dpn't kill our oldies.

I mself hav a threshold level of considering wht is music & wht is noise. For me anything tht soothes my current state of nerve level i consider as music. Bt anything tht excites the current state of my nerve, according to my personal feeling, i consider it as noise. And these new avatar of fusion music jst excites my nerves too much.

A small question is coming to me all the time after that conversation. Is it the starting of end of road for our traditional music?? If true then I must say it'll b the most unfortunate thng.

Remix has become reality. Infact the remixers destroy old songs and new songs by making remixes of them. Somehow we can accept the new one's , but the timeless classics (they should stay away).

The problems is that the remixes are popular as some people like to have them for dance parties, clubs, etc.

It's all sad but true.

1) Take a complete no/less-talented who knows something (at times i hav doubt on this too) about music

2) Allow him to destroy timeless movie songs/tunes composed by people like Madan Mohan and SD Burman

3) Take another singer and hear him/her (in complete futility) and try to match the likes of Mohd. Rafi and Kishore Kumar

4) Use techno computer loops for the beat.

5) Use computer samples for sarangi/sitar/sarode to play completley uninspired solos.

6) For some unknowing reasons to me, use random phrases like "I like to eat kit-kat" in a husky voice in the track and pass it off as "trance"

7) Sell this crap to unsuspecting listeners and pass it off as Indian music.

Barnali Didi,

Finally you did break the ice. You said it all. Didi we may not at the end yet but definetely to a crossing point of our originality and cultural heritage.

Barnali, I completely support you in this. My threshold level is lower than most when it comes to crappy music. It doesn't make sense to distort our traditional music and pass it off as something new. I am afraid I don't even absolve many of our established current music directors like ARR.

Didi,

There is a difference between fusion and remix.

I loved the fusion in that song in Hum dil de chuke sanam...it clearly showed the transition from Indian classical to western.

But a remix like kaanta laga..is MURDER.. and the videos they put up with the song is obnoxious..it murdered the spirit, the essence of the orignal.

But instrumental fusion will be good..provided the cacophony is cut off.

Nt jst cacophony Adi. fusion music is essentially a cross-cultural jugalbandhi where both (or more) parties complement each other perfectly.it is two independent musical styles merging to form a third NEW style. As simple as that. No compromises...no passivity...and no techno. Thts wht i feel.

And yes do mak clean videos for those albums & nt the ones we get to see these days.
