Badibanga - Great point you've raised. Westernization does seem to have a firm grip on the world in general and you are right in pointing out that it does not always suit. On the other hand though while it could be more appropriate for traditional wear to showcase traditional/folk songs...i think Indians and the world in general has moved beyond that...for better or worse i'm not sure.

I myself am a recent follower of the show but there were many occasions on the C2005 show where traditional outfits were given their due. Its true though in the current season of EMET there is a noticeable absence of it.

Sweat17 - not sure which country you're from but having lived in Canada for many years i can tell you 'Anyways' is very much a part of the local lingo 😛

unfortunately on EMET there has been a noticeable absence of clothes fullstop 😕

about "anyways"- i agree... it's commonly used everywhere (y is it an indian thing???... i'm confused 😕)

Yes they certainly have decided that the best way to over-sensationalise the show is to under-dress the participants and its not even like they pick nice clothes or do it tastefully 😕

yea- some of the clothes are awful... even 1s which aren't revealing... the worst was the week before twinkle got eliminated where all the girls wore clothes that made them look like colourful morticia addams 😕... they were not flattering in any way whatsoever 🤢

I absolutely agree - I did not raise this point to insult the show, the country or the participants. I also believe the dress sense has nothing to do with ones talent. This is constructive citicism - nothing less nothing more.

All in all, Saregama pa is a good show. It showcases the indian talent to people around the world and I think its great.

Did not know "anyways" is an indian thing. People around the world make a lot of spelling mistakes too - and that includes myself too. Its not something unique to Indians.😉

FYI : There is a great debate going at the Debate Mansion section of IF on in the same context : Shobha De's remarks on indian women . To quote :

According to most of the Indian designers, Indian outfits are held in great awe among the westerners and our film stars should have represented that. Designer Manish Malhotra who designed a sari for Preity holds that India should be the theme of Bollywood fashion at Cannes and the outfits should showcase genuine Indian craftsmanship.
