Hi I am a non-indian, Canadian fan of Saregamapa. I have a deep appreciation for indian culture, music and also the clothes. I cant understand why the participants of Saregamapa are always in western attire. Even when they are singing traditional songs they are dressed in extremely hip clothing. And for some participants it does not suit at all.

I am not sure I am feeling this way because I am from the western world but I think it looks inappropriate - specially when they are dressed in sweat pants and hooded tops singing traditional songs. Or dressed in leather - top-to-bottom, looking like a members of a bikers gang.

I feel Indian clothing is so beautiful, colourful and classy and should promote it thorugh such shows.

Point well taken....

However, Western clothing is cool as well. I have nothing against the western clothing.

Its because they want to grab attention of the younger hipper audience, nd possibly to attract Indians who live abroad to appreciate their culture.
Honestly i think that our(Indian) clothes are much much nicer and more complimenting.

Thanks
I have nothing against western clothing and it is cool but dont you think it should be used only when it is appropriate and fits a person's personality? Or else it looks really silly.

Twikle can carry the western attire very well - she looks really nice with the short skirts, boots and all the stuff. So as Ujjani - But not everybody. Anyways, it just my opinion and It may not be always right.

I dont think indian clothes lack style, glamour and sex appeal. I recently watched an Indian Fashion show and it was absolutely mind blowing. I was truly impressed. I cant remeber their names but they were fabulous. The clothes had a sophisticated and extremely modern edge to it. I must say very very sexy too.

I am also looking from a sales and marketing point view. If these participants were dressed in such clothes would it not be a great selling feature for your country?
