At the engagement party of my friend in Delhi recently, I had to close my ears in the same way when the noise went up to unimaginable levels. I am sure that if the decibel level had been measured by a meter, it should have shown some dangerous level. I couldn't even listen to the singer, all I could hear was the dum-dum-bang-bang of deafening instruments.

I wonder if the teeny bopper generation possesses what is called an ear-drum, that delicate membrane which vibrates to sound.

Very correct Sahana'ji... if common people are so brutally hurt by the noise around, imagine the musical institution herself... i sometimes wonder what her take is on all the sound going around😕

(maybe the fire truck had passed by that time) 😆

I don't know what that picture was in reaction to. Most likely it was in reaction to a very loud unbearable noise. In that case, Lataji is justified in trying to protect her ears.

But I find it hard to digest the part said above (if true) that she wore cotton in her ears and removed them right on stage in front of the singer and public. Even if she had to wear cotton in order to protect her ears from loud noise, I would expect her to remove the cotton before walking to the stage or after coming down from the stage, not right in front of everyone - as a form of respect for an artiste (regardless of how bad they may sing), or atleast in concern for a fellow human being's feelings.

However, I don't know how much of the above is true, or the circumstances under which they occured, so I will not judge anyone.

Let me remind you of a few weeks earlier, when Alka Yagnik came to EMAET and passed some unfavorable comments on certain participants. A lot of us called her arrogant, insecure, and what not. I hope we will judge everyone by the same scale.

Just my unbiased comments. No offense to be taken.

Lataji is free to insert cotton into her ears and remove them whenever/wherever she wants!

Hi all...
I'm posting something after a long time...had come here to chk the updates...

The singer in question is 'Manasi Scott'

Star News is a channel which doesnt present news, but packages it with all possible spices tht we can get in India and prepares a dish to finally offer to viewers. In this particular incident, Manasi was singing 'I will always love u'(I'm not sure but I guess its a Shania Twain song)....Lataji was sitting in front row...the speakers were so loud n tht too in a closed room of a hotel...I'm sure a person of that age will have increased pulse rate with the kind of decibel levels...she first held her hand against her chest and tried to take a deep breathe(from what i saw on the same news channel)...n then she cud not take it n closed her ears...even Usha Mangeshkar was next to her n she also cud not bear the beats....

now for God's sake...imagine u play some heavy music on ur music system in high volume even ur dadi at home wud do the same...the same Manasi Scott when asked abt it said that she saw Lataji enjoying her 'Kaisi paheli zindagaani' but didnt see this n also cited the same reason, may be the music was too loud for her...so just come off it....

thnx for reminding the name... and lemme correct u, mansi had said in her interview that being an artist herself, she would have never done such a thing to an upcoming artist... n one more thing, but why did she have cotton still after the song was over 😕 and why did she decide to take it out on the stage 😆

Thanks for giving all the decibel figures! Now I know I have been exposed to 130 db at parties. Help, I'll soon go deaf!
