One of my favourite songs....typical of a movie in which the songs are grrreat but the movie itself is lousy!!! Not to mention the lead in such movies....

Movie: Parasmani
Lead: Mahipal (man with wooden face) and Geetanjali

Uyi maa Uyi maa yeh kya ho gaya
dil ki gali mein dil kho gaya....
bindiya ho to dhoond bhi loo main,
dil na dhoonda jaye....

The picturisation is superb (black and white) and Geetanjali (joh bohot zyada "matakti" thi) has danced with abandon!! The music is fast paced and foot tapping.

Another song I like from this movie:

Woh Jab yaad aye....bohot yaad aye..
Ghame zindagi ke andhere mein hum ney
chiragh-e mohobbat jalaye bujhaye.....

Superb song but the picturisation is very lousy....Mahipal and Geetanjali sing this song to convey that they miss each other....Mahipal at his wooden best!!!

Some songs sound out of the world but are MAJOR let downs if you see the picturisation....this movie is one such example.....

Its a beautiful song.

If you have seen the movie, its the same quadrangle where he later on sings the Joh wada kiya woh nibhana padega 😃

Pradeep Kumar always looked so much like an uncleji and was too stout to look like a young lover. 😊. Bina Rai always had a heavy coat of lipstick.

Taj Mahal songs are a treat, of course. Shekhar, yeh Dwarakaji ko "ji" kehne ka problem hai. Since he is the youngest in this forum, he goes about making all of us feel OLD. 😊

But Punjini, I still subscribe to the old school of thought that until we get to know each other well....the ji's are mandatory....nahi toh, as Jeeves would have said....it deems to be like taking a liberty!
