Sinhaji, about the tracks, I myself was wondering! It was to be on the spot, how come, the tracks are ready to suit the scale individually and secondly, how do the contestants know the tune thoroughly? I know half of the given songs, but not to such minute perfection!!!
Lots of things reamain a mystery here. So finally this show was not a tragedy, not a horror, but a mystery 😉

It used to be a learning exprience to listen to judges like OP Nayyar etc..

those days we used to watch the show not only for the contestants, but judges like Naushadji, OP, Anil Biswas, Pt. Jasrajji, Hariprasadji, etc. Every word they uttered was like a gem.

Hi Sinhaji,

That's a nice concise, direct update !!! I couldn't help feeling a bit sad reading the opening sentence…
With this episode curtains fell over the Mumbai studio for SRGM 2005, the platform from where so many talented singers like Nihira/Sharib/Hema/Himani & others performed and entertained us for months.
The middle part leading up to the Brahmastra, before public voting was indeed memorable. At that time, I really thought Nihira and Hemachandra would be the ultimate winners. I really wanted the four singers you mentioned above to be in the finals… (I'm not discounting Vinit and Debo's talents when I say this, just giving my preference ). Though I still enjoyed the previous episode when the Final 3 sang A.R. Rahman's compositions.

Coming back to the show, it was a good idea bringing in guest music directors and singers to select songs and judge them. Its really frustrating when they dole out 10s all the time… it becomes so meaningless, especially when someone REALLY deserves it !!! I'm glad Shaan had the guts to confront HR… why should he complain for a 9 ?? That's a good rating !!!!

I guess there's not much to say at this point… they are no longer judging singing. They shifted the focus a long time ago to regional voting, emotional stories, love stories, walkouts, sob stories and the like… Actually Vinit and Debojit could have come to the stage and taken a bow and asked India to vote… I don't think what they sung would have made any difference in the outcome…

Thanks for the update…
STB.

Sure, live performances by professionals is hence superb. I happen to have recordings of live performances by Lataji, Ashaji and Rafi Saab. He has sung aaj aaja main hoon pyaar tera and parda hai. How ironic 😉 Listen to it along with you-know-who's live performances of these songs.I am not comparing, but I am put in this position bcz of HR's constant ranting. 😉

I would like to add something more to that.

Besides listening to contestants, we love to listen to judges like the ones mentioned above but we also personally enjoy listening to the musicians live. Live orchestra brings something more to the singing performance. I think they are very crucial part of the song. They bring different life to the song.

👏👏

No track can replace a live orchestra.

They can make or break the song in my opinion whether it is live or is recorded track.

Hi Varshaji,

I recall you mentioned this months ago when they first stopped having live orchestra... I agreed with you then, and now !!! I miss the live orchestra very much. My husband used to always say why don't they recognize the orchestra more, and give the names of the musicians !!! Now they have gone one step futher, behind the scenes !!!

Yes, listening to judges like Shiv-Hari, O.P. Nayyar, Kavita Krishnamurthy and some others, was a real pleasure. They are so cultured even when they give critical comments, they do it in a way that doesnt discourage the singers..

Take care

Tracks can be made to hide some weaknesses.
Also it is possible to bring scale down or notes a notch or two down.
