As you said, they have tasted blood (money), they'll never go back to old format. I personally don't mind Zee TV doing these things for economic reasons. They can get new singers along with scale round/semi classical round back to SRGMP.

One thing, I would like them to do is have a "Guest of Honour" for each show and bring musicians who aren't doing well and honour them. Of course, ZEE TV could silently slip them a cheque along with that (or if they are going to announce the amount, that's ok). I can't help to bring Rajinikant's name into this because whenever he helps it's not him who tells it out. It's the person who gets help gives the news (most of the time against Rajini's wishes).

I guess it is announced ahead of time to the SRGMP team what songs will be provided to contestants. So I guess everyone is aware of the songs except the contestants themselves....

The key is we dont seek perfection in playback singing.. thats the goal of the classical singer, here the simple goal is to reach the heart of the listener, like a mother singing a lullaby. A child fallen asleep doesnt jump out of her sleep crying cos the mom missed a key!!!

So here the key is "how Effective" not "how precise"

Just like Rehmans vande mataram.. if you listen to Lata's, his will sound like a parody but the intensity with which he has sang it makes it extremely effective. Same is the songs sung by madan mohan, sound not so musical but extremely intense and effective and I will buy those CD's just for that effect!!!
