For those who doubt my pronunciation abilities, might I humbly refer them to some of my broadcasts that I had done as a broadcaster for BBC World Service (Hindi Section). I used to broadcast Hindi News to over 42 million people in India on Short Wave Radio from London (BBC World). I did this for 6 years, and ventually also did English broadcasting on FM radio in the UK.

In 2001 I received the award for best hindi radio broadcaster for doing a report on Gandhiji's Dandi Salt March (you can hear this on the website. Pandit Ravi Shankar played music on this report). Many of my contemporaries returned to India and are now leading hindi news anchors on Star and Zee. since I was an economist and management guy by profession (journalism was only a hobby that I just happened to do for a while), I went to the US to pursue higher education and work.

You can hear some of my "hindi" broadcasts and interviews (I have interviwed most leading Classical singers and instrumentaists of India, at the BBC Studios), some of which can heard at:

http://www.sloanpartners.com/anuragharsh/personal/music/bbc/ bbc.html

Now if you have never heard me in the 1997 to 2003 time frame on radio, then you have probably not heard Hindi news on the BBC :)

However I do respect your views.

That does not make you a good judge, necessarily. I completely disagree with your analysis. I definitely think you are listening to these songs with an unconscious bias towards Debojit. I think Hemachandra and NIhira are definitely the top. I cannot believe you would give a 10 to Debojit. It is ridiculous. Please dont use your personal profile to make ridiculous judgements and comments.
I hope you are not judging any competitions here, if you are who you claim you are

Automother, there is world beyond Hemachandra, why not you give grammy to Hema...

That is exactly my point.

It is totally absurd for someone like anurag who claims to be a professional or trained singer to make these kind of ridiculous judgements.
And by the way why would Hema or Nihira need to win a Grammy to prove themselves. I dont know what you are trying to tell. Please open your eyes beyond the current finalists to look at real musical abilities, not cheap gimmicks like wearing hat, claiming to have girl friend, idiotic mentor, mom's dying wish, being poor and struggling and dad sick etc etc to win votes

I listened to each song sung by Hemachandra, Debojit, Vineet, Himani and Nihira, that have been posted thus far on both the following sites:

http://www.voiceofambition.com/voa/content/view/24/50/

http://as01.cooltoad.com/go/music?user=dizzybanana21x& go=1

After listening to each song on a hi fidelity headphone: The BOSE Quiet-Comfort Noise Cancelling Headphones US$300, URL: (http://www.bose.com/controller?event=VIEW_STATIC_PAGE _EVENT&url=/promotions/interactive/qc2/QC2_minisite_v2_c ontent.jsp&ck=0), I gave the song a score (1 to 10) based on a multitude of factors:

Musicality

Voice Quality

Tone

Sur

Variations

Difficulty

Technicality

Style

Pronunciation

Average Scores from All Songs (Out of 10): Highest to Lowest

Debojit: 7.79

Nihira: 7.30

Hemachandra: 7.12

Vinit: 6.72

Himani: 6.71

Based on the above individual song results, I think I feel safe to vouch for Debojit from my view. I am suprised to discover this but a audio-only healdphone analysis revealed what I had not noticed on the TV show.

The scoring was done unbiased and entirely based on the "audio-only" and not on video-and-audio.

If you disagree with my scoring, I respect that. This is only my opinion although I have been completely unbiased and objective in the evaluation.

As regards, my qualifications to adjudicate, you can check them out and listen to sound bytes for whatever they are worth) at: www.AnuragHarsh.com (personal hyperlink)

Please don't shoot me personally if you disagree. Obviously you are entitled to your opinions and I respect that. Should you wish to inquire about why I gave a particular score to an individual song, feel free to message me. For lack of real-estate online, I didn't bother posting a song-level commentary, but have posted my scores instead.

anuragji,

excellent job on your analysis (if u really took the time to assess each of the songs listed based on the criteria that u mentioned). your analysis looks pretty comprehensive.

as u might have found out, not every1 will share your opinion but there r some who will at least respect your opinion. as for some others, don't take their personal attacks too seriously. there r some who argues without reason and will keep on arguing. just ignore them. afterall, in a public forum, i guess u can't have the best of both worlds : giving your honest opinion and earning respect.

I guess all u need to do is say Contestant X rocks or Contestant Y rocks and u will be elevated to the level of Shivji-Hariji. critical analysis hardly matters to every1.

😊

Anurag ji,
You may be a atalwart on Music, and I am just a novice. But your scoring system surely looks flawed, since there is very little transparency in your scoring. If this trend catches on, we will have everyone putting their own scores about contestants.
Listening to their songs on a Bose headphone sounds really cool. But does that mean you get to make the right decisions? A big NO.

My humble opinion,
Cheers.
