No, public voting is here to stay. It is the order of the day. The only thing we can do is to request the organisers to reduce the weightage given to public voting to 10-15%.

What makes me feel good is that a home-grown programme like SRGMP has become so successful, standing apart from those copy cat shows that originated from the west (Who Wants to be a Millionaire, The Weakest Link, Oprah Winfrey Show and so on).

SRGMP is so Indian in concept, especially the Gharana tradition.

Yes, there should be a classical round or an entire episode devoted to classical songs from films (which I mentioned earlier). May or may not be ghazals. And if all are based on the same raga such as Yaman, it will be easier to judge.

Yes, there should be some way of factoring in the consistency of a singer. I mean, a singer might sing brilliantly one day, and make some minor mistakes on the next day.

How about introducing Jugalbandi while doing a classical round.

Also in addition to classical songs from films can we have classical rounds not based on films and the accomplices like Tabla/other instruments can be done live along the singers

It is Shan's choice and only he will decide how much points a person deserves. Someone please give a milk bottle to Himesh with a nipple with a tiny hole, at least that will make him quite for once.

In a recent interview of Shaan, he said there was no controversy b/w him & HR. it was all created to make prog. more interesting. He also mentioned that public voting was introduced by seeing other musical shows.

How to save a consistent performer in SAREGAMAPA 2006??

When we have last 10, all the points from...
1) Judges (60%)
2) Mentor's voting(except for candidates own mentor)(20%)
3) Orchestra people voting (10%)
4) Public Voting (10%)(needs rectification, like one sms per mobile no., one vote per landline no., NO VOTING THRU INTERNET.)

should be carry fwd. to next round till we get last 4. After that we can wash-out previous points and introduce some different cum difficult rounds for the last 4.
(May be 2 Male & 2 Female.)
More over there elimination procedure should be different
from other. Like....
1) No more voting from anybody.
2) Totally on judges.(They should call 5 or 6 good judges.)
3) The best five performance of last 4 contestants should be send to judges for their homework before coming to the prog.

Fantastic suggestions, junkies007!
I agree completely! Looks like we are arriving at the right formula for SRGMP 2006.

'No internet voting' gets my vote.
Also agree that the judges must come after having done their homework on the best 5 performances.

I think a classical round not based on films may not be liked by the lay audience. Secondly, most of the contestants may not be up to it. In yester-years when the likes of Rafi, Lata, Manna De etc ruled, such a round would have been possible and appreciated by the public.

It is film-based music that this programme stresses on and anyway, at the end of the day, the winners will be given singing assignments in films by music directors.

One round for both Mentors & their contestants.

1) One new song should be given to the mentors.
2) Let the mentors compose this new song for their
contestants.
