Boy can she sing or what !! Her songs are soulfull and her husky voice is great and her command on her voice is also great.
Having heard Nihira and Himani, I feel each have a slight resemblence to 2 of the greatest. Nihira a bit like Lataji coz her sur is always perfect, but Himani a bit like Ashaji, her Voice quality, the charm, the seduction, she has the variety. I thank Dizzy for all his posts and I am one of those 1000 people who have each and every song of Himani on my MP3 player. Always listen to them while driving. My most fav are Der Na hojaye and Chitthiye. I feel that coz of the mix-up that there are 2 winners she did not get votes. But she will shine the brightest. Amen !

Hi anshu,

Thankyou for your wonderful response. Lately all the Himani fans had disappeared, so I'm glad to see them back here. Dizzy will be happy too. He never used to watch SRGMP, but he only got into it because he liked Himani's singing style. (I'll ask him to respond to this post when he returns from school) It's the greatest thing for US that we've been able to share SRGMP music with everyone worldwide. Our little contribution towards helping all these contestants succeed in their dreams; give them back something for all the pleasure they have given all of us. God bless all of them 😊 😊

I like the way you described the difference in Himani and Nihira's style. Himani is more like Sunidhi Chauhan, but one diff. is that Himani is a trained singer. What I like the most is the power and the soulful quality in her voice. My favorite songs are: Jiya dhadak, Chittiye, Oopar Khuda, Ni main yaar, Der na ho jaye, Sabki baraatein, Que sara"… Himani's voice will suit a lot of the actresses today like Rani, Priyanka, Bipasha, lara Dutta, etc.

Please, let us know if you hear anything about Himani's career. We would like to keep track of her progress.

Take care…

I totally respect your opinion...

And I also want to applaud your thoughtfulness/consideration for "not wanting to rain on my party for Himani" !!! 👏 👏

However, this is a thread I opened for discussion. I will be happy to listen to your ideas either here, or in any other thread, as long as we focus on Himani's singing and her career.

Thanks for responding and best wishes to you too 😊

Ok sheisthebestji,

Here it goes(and this is just my opinion, so dont take it to heart, I am just one of the viewers of bollywood, so I am just portraying what is the reality out there)

Bollywood likes to typecast people, Singer X sings this type of songs, Singer Y sings this types of songs and also people tend to limit themselves.

Himani has a heavy/husky voice, in recent trends of bollywood it suits sad songs, folk songs, or dhingchak-sunidhi(item number/sulky) type songs. She identified that as her niche on that in the show and stuck to it throughtout, she rarely chose to go out of that niche role. I was really disappointed in her due to this, that she had the opportunity to really show the world what she is made up of by going into different genre's and excelling in them and now that she is out of SRGMP she has to depend on the choice of sings MD prefer her to sing, and she has shown her inclination to a certain type of songs, now what is wrong with that type of songs?

Now you must have watched a lot of bollywood movies, how many sad/item numbers/folk songs do you have in a movie? at the most 1 or 2(unless it is a folk based/artsy movie). So she has limitation of 1 or 2 songs/movie, and the competition is Sunidhi(expensive)/Richa sharma(unexpensive)/folk singers(they will be as cheap as Himani) in cost terms.

Also if you look at Bollywood music, Lead actresses are portrayed as beautiful, cutty kind, generally with sweet/clear voices in songs(go back in bollywood history, past 50 years, how many years have no sweet/clear voices singers dominated or made a mark in female music industry?) hence the success of Lataji/Ashaji/Alkaji/Shreya over everybody except Sunidhi, but dont forget she is fundamentally very strong, she has offlate being trying to venture into the sweet genre too since she understands this mechanism.

so after the initial exuberance of SRGMP C2005, she is in for a dog fight to keep her head above the water(I hope not, but that looks more like a reality)

Just My slanted POV, you can one too

I think when there is a very good singer like Sunidhi chauhan, then I dont think that Producers need to go to Himani. Himani's category is different. she is of Richa sharma, Hemasardesai and sunidhi chauhan. So tell me except for Sunidhi where are the rest today? So when sunidhi (such a good singer ) is there then, why himani is needed? If I was MD then, I would have definitely approached for sunidhi and not Himani. Not atleast after hearing the song JAB JAB SAIYAN of chingari which is very emotionless song.

Hey sheisthebest, good to see your post on Himani after such a long time. I hope Himani will make it big in our film industry. I for one - will not say or wish anything negative for any of the participants. They all have a dream and will try their best to acheive it. Who am I to make judgements on their potential. They will head towards whatver destiny has in store for them. In today's world unfortunately its not just all about talent anymore. A lot of it has to do with 'kismat'. I hope to God that these kids become successful and acheive their dreams.

I will look forward to hearing more of Himani in the future. She is 17 and has a long long way to go. I am sure that she will grow out of the shadows of Sunidhi and Richa and carve a niche for herself. It took years for them both to get to where they are and it will take time for Himani too. Our music industry is huge and to assume that there is no space for new talent - is too presumptuous.

I guess some people can't digest the fact that Himani is better than Nihira.
But can anyone tell me than how himani managed to get such a high percentage of votes frm maharashtra which is Nihira's homeground.
I think she was the only one who had true uniform voting pattern. She got just 20% of votes frm Delhi (her home) most of the times

For the record I think Himani is great, Nihira is better than her in terms of sur-taal, Himani is better than Nihira in performance attributes. Himani is a better performer, Nihira is a better singer amongst the two

and I did answer this question of yours in another of the himani thread regarding the voting patter

Just my POV, you can choose to have one too

Hi Sareg,

First of all, you don't have to call me "ji"… and thanks for taking the time to give me your POV.

I agree with some of your thoughts… I also wish that Himani had experimented more in styles of songs… But I guess its understandable that people would
like to showcase their "strengths" in a competition of this kind, where the stakes are so high… and it takes only one poor decision to loose it all !!! But some of the songs that Himani sang like "Chittiyee", "Der na ho jaye", "Upar Khuda" are more difficult than mainstream romantic tunes.

I agree there are not a lot of sad/ folk /Punjabi songs in all films. But I disagree about item songs & westernized songs. These days (UNFORTUNATELY ) Bollywood films have so many item songs/dances/disco/party songs. Even the romantic songs have begun to sound like item/dance songs… like "gustakiyan ho". So the "mainstream" music these days is moving towards the genre of Sunidhi/Himani. Just look at the top 10 songs in any website or TV show and you'll hardly find any "classic melodious" style songs. The Lata/Shreya type of music is found mostly in a few period films like Parineeta, Devdas, Lagaan, Kisna, etc… or a few epic films like Veer-Zaara, LOC…

Looking at past bollywood history, it is true that lead actresses were portrayed as "sweet & cute" with soft and melodious voices. This was true even in the 90s during Alka Yagnik's peak. But the trend has changed so drastically in the 2000s that heroines are beginning to look, act and sing like the vamps in older films. With bold bold actresses like Bipasha, Priyanka, Lara, Mallika, Rimi, etc the line between heroine and vamps have crumbled… The style of music directors have also changed so much with HR, Anu Malik, Pritam, Vishal Shekar, Salim Suleiman... so the demand is more for singers of Sunidhi's style. It will be interesting to see where this trend finally leads us…

I believe it will be equally tough for ALL the challenge contestants, since the competition is tough and will only increase with so many talent shows. All the SRGMP singers are talented, but the ones that make it will have to be really smart and LUCKY. What they need is someone who really wants to support them, believes in them and gives them a huge break… like HR is doing for Vinit… or the kind of break SLB gave Shreya… It would be great if someone like A.R. Rahman gave Hemachandra a break… we'll have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best 😊

Take care.

Hi Tisha,

I agree with your way of thinking, esp the lines in bold… I was just writing the same thing to "sareg" about "luck" being a huge factor. If some big producer/director, music composer or star is greatly impressed with a singer, they can MAKE their career… but those kind of breaks are few and far between !!!

Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing Himani grow as a singer and carve a niche for herself. She has to improve her breathing, control on high notes, and needs to open up more while singing. She makes everything look so easy, that I feel like she's still holding back !!! It took Alka Yagnik years to really establish herself and open up completely while singing. When she first entered bollywood, she was not that good. She said in an interview that it was Laximkant-Pyarelal that helped her in this respect… dil khol ke gane mein…

Thanks so much for responding… your ideas are well thought out and mature. 😊
