hi friends....

seeing so many articles about the legends of the film music.....i couldnt stop myself from posting an article about the great "K.V.Mahadevan".....he was a genius........please enjoy......will try to put more articles together........

K. V. Mahadevan is a South Indian music composer.

K. V. Mahadevan, or "mAmA" as he was popularly known among his colleagues, has a special place in South Indian film music. He started his career as a happy composer with 'Anandhan' in 1942, contributed immensely for nearly half a century, before surrendering in 1990 with 'muruganE thuNai'. During this period he scored music for about 250 Tamil films. The special features of his compositions were: giving primary importance to lyrics and composing music that is perfectly suited to lyrics; always keeping a base in the Carnatic music systems; and giving independence to singers and other assistants to freely contribute ideas for improving his compositions. Some of the famous tamil movies for which he composed include 'adimai peN','thiruviLayaadal','vaanampaadi','thillaana mOganaambaaL','kandhan karuNai','muthalaaLi'. His most famous and recent composition in Telugu was in the movie directed by K.Vishwanath, 'Shankarabharanam' (1980).

Here's another article........

Music directors many a time prefer scoring the track to make the lyricist write song. Indeed, it's arresting the lyricist and making the job of music director easy. But it was KV Mahadevan who used to prefer tuning only after the lyrics are written.

He used to say, "Lyric is the life of song. When there is good feel in the lyric, great tune glues to it. I prefer tuning the song only after that's penned".

That's the reason for his songs to become evergreen hits.

People used to say in those days, "KV Mahadevan can compose even the editorial in Andhra Patrika in a melodious way".

That was the might of that legendary music composer.

Aaah Sirivennela...Mama's tunes are all gems...they are so brilliantly tuned to the beauty of lyrics.Inspite of not knowing the language(Telugu), he used to bring the exact feel of the lyrics thro his music.

One of the most refined 'film' poetry is of Seetarama Sastry garu in Telugu. The songs in Sirivennela are so aptly tuned to the beautiful lyrics...its just awesome...I'm none to comment on such genious. So Mama paadaabhivandanam.
