I think you got what I was trying to say..

what is Tamil counterpart of Grahan music by Kartik Raja..........??

Strictly talking Bollywood!

According to Bollywood the person who gives the most hits is the best guy around, if you apply the criteria
HR is the most successful for Y2005, most hits!

I think any half of JL are more talented than most out there, them combined with the success they have, they are the best out there at present(with due respect to ARR)

If you just take talent for me
Hemantda
Salil Choudhary
Naushad
RD
SD
LP
Kalyanji/Anandji
Madan Mohan
Shankar Jaikishan
JL
ARR
there is a big drop
ID
and then there is a marina trench and then
AM
HR 😭

not counting low # of movies(like Ram Lakshman 4 Bharjatya movies, all hits or a Hridhynath Mangeshkar of Lekin etc)

I came across a no. of posts where people say that coming years belong to HR since he has more than 35 movies in hand. There are two questions : do composers like ID/ARR get less offers? and secondly which songs do we remember.
I dont need to say that Roja came in early 90s still we are refreshed by its songs despite ARR having worked for not more than 25 Hindi films. Also ID has given music in 6-7 Hindi films but we all highly appreciate the quality of HDDCS music.
We all want the participants to sing albela sajan aayo re.despite so many songs being churned everyday like chukki ka aata.
Coming to next Q do they get less ofers: A BIG NO.
It is interesting to note that after HDDCS actually ID got offer for more than 32 movies still he refused them because he wanted to focus on Subhash Ghai's project KISNA.

It is well known that ID takes atleast 5-10 days to record ONE song, Jatin Pandit is known to be a tough task master and he made Kavitaji do more than 10 retakes when song ye dil sun raha hai was being recorded.
Probably quality & quantity don't go hand in hand.
One big name which leaps to my mind is Salil Chaudhary who has not given music in more than 20 Hindi fims( though he was a big name in Bengal music industry) but is counted in the league of genius, infact most of the music premis hold opinion that his songs should be given to the finalists to test them.
There are other HUGE names like Shiv_Hari, Ravindra Jain, Khayyam: who depite having worked in less no. of films are counted as brilliant. Having said this I don't want to take away credit from giants like RD Burman, Laxmikant Pyarelal & Illaiya Raja who have done massive no. of scores & have maintained very good quality.
May I mention one name whom Im observing closely: he is Kartik Raja (son of Illaiya Raja), though he has done only few Hindi movies like Grahan, 16 December, Ive huge expectations from him. I hope he gets a lot of beaks like ARR.

QUOTE=N Sinha]Though it is an old interview it is relevant:

I won't compromise on quality: Ismail Darbar
Habib Shaikh, IANS [Wednesday, December 15, 2004]

National Award winning composer Ismail Darbar says he rejected 32 proposals after the success of "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" because he would not compromise on quality.

"If I only wanted to make money in the world of film music, I could have accepted any of those 32 offers. But, no, I want to create immortal melodies," Darbar told IANS.

He was in the city to attend a social function and also meet old friends in his native state of Gujarat.

He won the National Award for "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" directed by Sanjal Leela Bhansali. The director gave him another opportunity in "Devdas" and Darbar delivered haunting melodies for the classic tale of love and loss.

The acclaimed director, however, did not opt for Darbar's music in his much-talked-about next venture, "Black".

"Bhansali and I are friends as well as foes," he said with a smile. "He may give me an opportunity in his next project," he added.

Darbar's most awaited release is Subhash Ghai's "Kisna".

"Ghai wanted A.R. Rahman to compose music for the ambitious film, but Rahman was busy with a number of national and international projects. It was Rahman who suggested my name to Ghai.

"That was how Ghai contacted me. However, he convinced Rahman to compose two numbers for the film."

Darbar is very fond of "Yeh Chilman Uthegi Nahin", an 11-minute qawwali he has composed for the big banner film. "I have attempted a fusion of the Sufi qawwali tradition and Western music. I am sure it will appeal to all generations," he said.

While two of his five films have left critics and fans craving for more, he regretted that his music in "Tera Jadu Chal Gaya", "Mehbooba" and "Diwanagi" had turned out to be entirely forgettable.

"Still, two out of five is not a bad ratio," said the son of a saxophone player from the south Gujarat city of Surat.

"I am happy when some fans tell me that my music reminds them of the music composed by the all-time great Naushad. I wish I were born 25 years ago.

"I could have then worked with my favorite musicians like Madan Mohan and I would have had to work harder to compete with the likes of Naushad, Ravi, Shankar-Jaikishan and Laxmikant-Pyarelal. I could have then had my compositions sung by my most favorite singer, Mohammed Rafi.

"The increasing craze for remixes only proves that old is gold. Singers like Talat Mehmood and Mukesh were original diamonds. Compared to them, most of those around us today are like artificial diamonds," Darbar said.

"Among the current generation, I am amazed by the energy Anu Malik has. As for singers, Sukhwinder Singh is the one who makes my task easiest. I also love Udit Narayan's voice."

100% Sinha saab.

Let's take a review.

Compare the quality of -

Sajjad Hussain (12 movies)
Salilda (about 30 movies)
Pancham (about a 100 movies)
L-P (300-400 movies in 1980s alone - their worst period)

Coming to the modern era - best example - ID and HR.

Sajjad Hussain is considered the BEST MD ever in Hindi Film Industry. All on the basis of TWELVE movies.

Wot Say?

Since the general opinion is that music quality is going downhill with each passing generation, do u think that HR might be considered a legend say 50 - 60 yrs down the road... 😊
