Thought the other contestants except Karunya are dhakkans compared to SRGMP ones. Yes, SRGMP ones have stuck to their genres, but that's because of those dhakkan mentors again.

You put across a very valid point about ZEE not marketing Mohd. Vakil, Parthiv Gohil and the likes. Mohd. Vakil is one of the best singers I've seen in a LONG time. I will be bold enough to say he is better than Mr. Sanu, Shaan, Kunal etc. Yes, I'll dare to say that.

Yes, Sonu is actually the best judge on the show. Those judges are really good. They'll praise a good performance and take the bad ones to task.

In Indian Idol I, I still maintain Rahul Saxena was the best contestant...he had a solid classical base and was a finalist in SRGMP. Rahul Vaidya, Abhijeet Sawant, Amit Sana...they're all jokers (sorry if i've hurt anyone's feelings).
If Amey Date doesn't win this show, then we as a nation should feel ashamed of ourselves and our sensibilities. Bloody, they saved Panna and put Karunya into the danger zone. They voted out Monali instead of Panna 😡 . That dhakkan from Himachal and whatshisname Udit Narayan's besura clone is still safe 😡

Not to Deviate from the topic. Rahul Saxena participated in Saregama once. He lost in the Semi-finals to Sreekumar. Any guesses who the judge was?

Please Dont compare Saregamapa with II2, the Standards set by Saregama is much more than II2. Look at the kind of voice which amey had.. he can never establish in filmy songs. Just deciding listening to one song does not proove much.. he is no where near Hema/Debo/Sharib. If u r a relative to amey.. tell this story in II2 forum.. not in here.

If amey is so good, then he might have already established himself after winning Saregamapa instead attending other reality shows.

I was hoping for some of these reactions. please notice the title its saregamapa 2005 not saregamapa before that.
And what do you find wrong with amey's voice. Who said only voices resembling rafi or KK would succeed in movies....and who cares about the movies music nowadays. Still there is always a suresh wadkar, KJ yesudas for every rafi and KK clone....

Amey Date is far better than anyone else except Hema in Saregamapa. He would probably win against Hema too because of his maturity. He lost to Junaid Akhtar because Junaid is a highly classically trained singer and the judge there was Pt. Shiv kumar Sharma. Amey was hardly 17 then. Shiv Kumar asked Amey how long have u been learning? When he said 5 years, Shiv kumar was astonished.

By the way Sreekumar lost to Hrishikesh. Also Any guesses who was the judge when Rahul lost?

I am not sure of the talent of the participants and their future, but I definitely have started enjoying watching II2 more than SRGMP. I was not interested in II2 initially, but lately have found it to be more pleasant to watch after a hard day's work than watch mentors playing politics (& not accessing contestants correctly leading to misleading public). Like yesterday, I watched half of SRGMP & decided there was no point… & opted to watch II2 which aired couple of hours later (I am in USA).

It would not be right to say that SRGMP has not been great launching post for playback singers. Sony is pushing for careers like stage performances, that is why more hype. I definitely like the way judges are neutral, though Sonu is the only one who gives sensible comments. If SRGMP judges had pushed right candidates we would certainly had great finalists like Nihira, Hema, Sharib. So to start with SRGMP definitely had the best voices, but lost them all due to mentor bickering.

About Amey Date – product of SRGMP – he is definitely the best in II2 followed by Karunya & maybe Meenal. The rest are not much to talk about. I still rank Nihira better than Amey & if Sharib had been there he would have given great competition to Amey's voice.

But in the end, I do agree its more entertaining to watch II2, even though I just like two candidates there & even though I was a die-hard fan of SRGMP till Dec last year.

actually amey's laga chunari mein daag inspired me to start this thread..it was a slap to other contestents and also a slap to saregamapa.
Thanks for that comment about mohd vakil...he is by far the best contestent in all reality shows. actually he IS better than sanu, shaan and kunal...in terms of singing...voice quality not considered.
Vakil was judged by maestros so they praised him enough but were not in position to give him a chance.....here ordinary singers are getting albums after albums...

I think it is not good to start II topic here at this stage of competition in SRGMP. Wait for couple of weeks and we will definitely discuss it. I am one of the big fan of Ameya, but I do not know how far he will go in this era of public voting. I actually want people like AD, Niraj Sinha give analysis in II on their contestants. To me Ameya, Meenal and Karuniya are singers.
