Great Post again.

I totally agree with the above comments too. We are fortunate to have IR/ARR in the Tamil film industry. Another interesting note is that listeners of Tamil Nadu listen to fewer & fewer Hindi songs from 1980's. It's not a coincidene, but that was the rise of IR to stardom, and he ruled it till 1995.

Nice post. This is why I still visit this forum.

Glad to know Hema is getting an opp. with ARR. So was that in Tamil/Telugu or Hindi?

Couple of favorites: Alai Payuthey/Saathiya, Roja, Bombay, Puthiya Mugam, Taal, Kadhalan.

ARR already has noticed Hema, Nihira & Himani..
One of the forum members who doesnt write anymore but is closely related to some established South Indian singers, told me this through mail.

Thanks for yet another wonderful post, Mr.Sinha!

From what I read, ARR was very impressed with Sharib's voice.

Yes it is. It's BharathiRaja's film which won national award.

Have you guys heard songs from Sangamam and Duet. The movies I think were flops but the songs are superb, exp the instrumental in Duet. My 5 year old just loves "Mettu Podu" from Duet. As hard as the lyrics are for her, she wouldn't give up until she memorized few lines.
