If Sachali survived for long, credit goes to her classical training, she was able to eliminate Vinita who had a better voice quality than Sanchali.
Actually Himani improved with leaps & bound, when she performed Ahsaji's songs in initial rounds I remember she missed sur & mood, but Nihira is a class apart: if you see she already started with 85/100 now from this point onwards moving to 90 is a herculian task..

Sanchali was really good. Among the boys, I really like Irfan. Seemed to have good training and used to really work on his songs.

Great posting, Ruby!

Even if classical trained ones like Sharib or Nihira didn't make it in the competition, they will definitely make it outside of it. I certainly hope Sharib and Nihira really become one of our future voices of India.

Bhaktasaaheb,
Glad to see you noticed this post.
Maybe you can throw some insight into benefits of classical music for an aspiring singer...

I think what bugs me is that anybody who was not classically trained even
showed up for the audition. Even Paresh has some training.

I am looking forward to the old SRGM where talents wins over gimmicks.

Sanchali's bad luck was this contest format. She just did not have the
attractiveness of Ujjaini (not that she is a bad looking girl) but she neevr
charmed the audiences and that is too bad. She was acutally the better
singer.

Agree completely with royji. Sanchali does have a classical training background which was evident in most of her performances and you could see her brilliance when she tried that song which was out of her genre ... "Gustakhiyaan" ... That was among the three best performances of the show ....

It's unfortunate that the format of SRGMP with mentors and contemporary rounds didn't suit her and she just couldn't pull the strings with the audience ....

Great post. Yes, classical training does help in the long run. But sometimes singers w/o a formal background in make a name for themselves ie. folk singer Reshma. But practice does make perfect. 😊 These contests work in weird ways, esp with the public voting. Sometimes pure talent isn't enough.
