They say that RDB was so overwhelmed by the success of Aradhana, Amar Prem, Kati Patang and Aap Ki Kasam with Kishore-Rajesh Khanna that he used Kishore only after that (well...mostly). It is interesting to see that both Panchamda and Kishoreda were alike personalities...fun loving, moody, wacky etc. And both of them had a great music sense.
If you observe, Rafi and Lata were Pancham's mainstay in the 60s. But after Aradhana, Kishore and Asha were his major singers. We can, infact, chart Rafi's decline from 1972.
Although Rafi had indeed sung some superfast, beat-oriented, dhin-chak songs, the alternative cinema and new era music of the 70s required someone with a powerful voice. What better voice than Kishore?

Dear Adarak

As always right on spot, infact Rafi saab's career started declining from 1975, probably he needed muscians with strong classical base...80s lacked them, compulsion of changing taste of Hindi cinema also was one reason why RD went for fast beat songs in 80s, for that matter if you see even RD was rendered jobless in late 80s....

Sinhaji,

These articles are probably the best ever I had read about Panchamda.

Keep up the good work, I don't think you'll find any problems getting these published.
