Since you are the originator of this Forum, it cant be more appropriate to address this to you, though I had adressed it to a few Mods. but to no vain.
Q. How do define SARCASM and differentiate it from HUMOUR
When you answer, please keep in mind the spoof carried out by Sajid Khan( Master of sarcasm) with Akshay Kumar during the recently telecasted "Star-Screen Awards".
If sarcasm is not allowed on IF, then it needs to be explicitely put in "Black n White" with examples of which kind of sarcasm is allowed and which one not.
There are members, with multiple IDs, who are using them at galore, leave alone a member who was allowed to come back to forum, inspite of having been caught red-handed with multiple ID and with abundance of proof of defamation of a member.
Lastly, the stick being given by Mods should be as a corrective measure instead of curbing genuine members from posting freely.
Even at a prison, the concept is changing and they are adopting rewards than punishments to reform the prisoners.Am sure, IF is no way close to a prison.
Otherwise, I agree and abide with what you have said.
Thanks
Sunil
first things first sunil....
since i am a mod that should solve your problem that mods don't reply. now for sarcasm vs humor. different people have different ideas about what constitutes sarcasm and what constitutes humor, there is a very thin line between them . since normally one's tone and facial expression convey's speaker's intent , when you post something online you are at an disadvantage and may be misunderstood. while the forum welcomes sarcasm if you can convey that(members have used smileys, psst statements in italics to convey that in past). however we tend to monitor and react at posts that are unsucessful at conveying that, to avoid possible misunderstandings between the members.
now for the second complaint...this is supposed to be a fun forum where one can express his/her ideas freely, however we expect all members to behave responsibly and care about the sentiments of others. just because a certain member was irresponsible does not mean that he can not be given an another chance or that is a reason for us to imitate the irresponsible behaviour.
while mods try to encourage genuine posts but there are times when emotions run high on a certain forum and we are forced to become more stricter. i know that it does not seem fair but please bear with us under those circumstances. i hope this helps your questions/complaints
