and others - Vinit was ok, Hemu n Himani were medicore.. did not expected these kind of low performances at this stage of contest..

It is SIDDU who saved the show.. he was fantastic...

I dont agree with you atall. Forget deboo making mistakes, even others have also made much mistakes in their songs. But they got 10 from the mentors. And you are talking about AS giving 6 means he did mistakes. AARE BABA forget mistakes if you are a good music listener, then just assess his whole qawaali number with lots of alaaps, sargams and taans. This shows how well trained he is. Has anybody among the other three has performed. None of them deserved 10 except for deboo. If deboo gets 6/7/9 for his qawwali number, then what am I to say about others who have made mistakes and has scored 10/10/10. Should I tell you one thing.................Its my assessment. Hema has been my favorite. But he was the worst of all in this qawaali number. He was not given the right choice of song by his mentor AS while deboo was given difficult song by his mentor and he performed it very well...................My assesment.

i don't agree at all. selecting difficult songs than others does not pardon you from making mistakes rendering it. the contest should be about singing with minimum number of mistakes and not about singing the most difficult song in the world and making all sorts of mistakes.

i agree the song hemachandra selected is not worth mentioning. but he, in my opinion made least # of mistakes yesterday.

i must mention again that i like debojit and hemachandra equally.

Nihira ke been saregama kal besura aur suna suna laga.
baki contestent bhi kuch anjaan se lage.
shaan ki usual awaz aur haasi to thee par
aankhe kuch gumsum see lagee
lataji ka wo gana himani ki aawaz me bilkul anjana sa laga
aur phir bhi adesh ko uski tarif karna mehej ek natak sa laga
Vinit ne gana to sahi gaya par himesh ko uski tarif karna
usual or bachkana laga.. aur adesh ko Debu ke liye vote mangana bhi
kuch khonklasa laga.
Jatinji ka anna aur ismailji ka jana bhi kuch well planed sa laga
bhang me rang dalne kee siddhu ne ki poori koshish
par "Rajkumar" sa har baat pe dialogue marna kuch joker sa laga

sabh kuch tha waha.. josh aur hangama par
Nihira ke beena sachee saregama kal virana sa laga

Mr./Ms Author,

I disagree with you that Debo didn't give justice to this song. He gets full credit for attempting this alltime hit qwalli. HR & AS don't even have knowledge to understand any kind of classical music. You need guts to even attempt this song and I would give full credit to ID for picking this song and Debo for singing it beautifully eventhough he was besura at couple of times during his performance.

I still differ with rare2005 and srianne.

I still stand by my opinion ... Debo was the best in the Qawali round inspite of his odd couple of mistakes. The alaap and taans were excellent. Hema was plain ordinary compared to him. Nothing exemplary.

You may differ with mine but then it wouldn't count either. It would be better if a neutral person could make his judgement about the singing about the show ... (now don't say that the mentors are neutral ... AS, HR are nothing but 'mental' cases). And Hema fans will never accept that hema was a little inferior to Debojit ... neither will the Vinit fans ....

You both are entitled to your opinions and I defend to your right to have it so ...

It's personal choice about what you like and what you don't. But having guts to attempt a tough song is not same as singing it without mistakes. They won't give you PhD just because you applied for it when your peers attempted to appear in 12th standard exam which was suitable for their level of knowledge.

And if you hear Hem's song carefully again you'll see Hema had serious diction problems ... see his pronunciation of 'Ibadat','behlado' and so on ....

OK I listened to the qawali episode again carefully and here are my final
thoughts on the episode:

Is it my imagination or did every performer sound tired or under the
weather? I think that they are all overworked and getting sick. Instead of
wasting time on those silly AV's, they should use that time to nap.

Hema -- I am huge fan of his so this song selection and performance
were VERY dissapointing. He sounded tired, his voice shook at points and
in any case that song is not the best song to highlight his strengths.
I consider it a fake qawali. He was off and he did slip a couple of times.
My rating for him 7

Himani -- I thougt that she was ok but not as good as before. But the
song is somewhat difficult and she did ok. I know this is not Himani's
fault but I am sort of sick of hearing her which is not fair but without
Nihira as a contrast, hearing her as the only female voice, I was tired of
her voice by the end. Also, I guess there is a reason that Richa Sharma is
usually the main voice on a soundtrack ( too heavy and grating) 7 or 8

Vineet -- The fake alap was not impressive. I paused the TV and
attempted to sing it myself and actually suceeded in tune. So, it was not
difficult and I am sure he is capable of more. In fact, I have heard much
better from in this contest (maybe that song from Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai)
My rating for him is 7 since he did not get the right scale. Why did hte
mentors gave him 10s? I just wanted to reach into the TV and shake
them!

Debo -- I thought it was a very good performance. Not that it did not
have mistakes. It did. But at least I enjoyed it which is more than I can
say for the others. I thought that he deserved an 8 or 9. Given the
difficulty of the song and the tans he pulled off, he showed his depth.
But I also agree that people should not pick difficult songs and screw
them up and then expect to get sympathy points. The first half of the
song was not good at all, but he really redeemed himself in the last half.
Why did AS give him a 6? He is really a disgrace!

I also want to note that at the end when they remind people of the
performances and show the small snippet of the performance, that can be
the last impression. As there are no impressive parts to Hema's song, it
did not leave a good impression. On the other hand, they showed Debo
singing a nice tan so, of course his fans are blown away and come out in
droves to support him.

I think that he is a worthy winner and if the others walk out, they desrved
to lose anyway.

I really wanted to see Nihira and Ujjaini in the finals and Hema and Debo
in the finals (Vineet should have left right after Paresh) so this is not
going well for me.
