You are not alone in thinking so. I too feel the same way. But again it all boils down to making minimum number of mistakes in whichever -- easy or difficult- song you select. e.g. there could be a light but classical based song like "chhupa lo yun dil mein pyar mera" vs "mori gagar na bharan det". Would you call the former light one and discount ability of that singer if somebody sang the later and failed at it?

I agree to this completely. I thought everybody in the forum liked Himani's rendition and I was the only outcast 😊. That was one of my favorite songs and she ruined it completely. She completley missed the sweetness and longing emotions that Lataji brought to the song. For example, how would Ila Arun sound when she sings the classic melodies like "Tu jahan jahan chalega" from Mera saaya or "Ghadi ghadi mora dil dhadke" from Madhumati - it was something similar. She might have been perfect in sur and taal wise but I don't think this was her type of song.

And before reading your reply I thought I was the outcast! 😊

I like Himani but I have started to think she is good only for the so-called item songs.
