Remember Nihira's 2 octave singing of Hare Rama Hare Krishna.??
Is singing at 2 octaves difficult, my 2 cents:
while 2 octave singing needs a good range control, It can be more difficult to sing a song with various crescendos: rising tempo & hitting low........without a time frame, latter needs very good breath control & superb modulation. In fact most of the imes it would be more difficult to sing latter than former.
Rangeela re was more difficult than HRHK, but somehow, latter got hyped more. While Nihira is flawless in most of the songs in terms of both range control & voice modulation, Himani's Kache dhaage was also quite good in this respect. There are other singers also who have this capability & need appreciation.
Hema is master of this art..I've seen him doing this quite a few times.
Credit also goes to ID who has consistently guided her in song selection very well.
Please note that this thread is purely to discuss a technical issue.

Hi Niraj,
agree with you about Himani's performance in the "Kacche Dhaage" song...brilliantly controlled lower register...and then all that emotion...loved that performance.

It can be hard or easy to sing in different octaves...depending on the range in the singers voice. Training only helps so much...have to be born with the gift of range! Nihira and Hema do it woith ease, himani does it sometimes, as did Sharib...the rest of the singers struggle with it.

Thanks Sinha for opening a post for my question...I was tired of everybody wowing abt it when other kids sang more difficult songs and were not appreciated. Kudos to ID for choosing that song during the audience voting round and nt during judges decision round.
Infact even if we try two octaves at home we can get it...Theres a singer called Anuradha Sriram. She's classical based and i thk she has done a few hindi somgs too. Theres this song in a tamil mve called Gilli, where she ahs two range between two completely high different high octaves, different pitches altogether. Thats two octave singing.
Vinit, during Fiza showed that he was not able to handle the sudden low notes after the high Fiza. His voice really shook badly.

N Sinha:

Are you sure mentors are doing song selections. I have my doubts. What makes you feel so?? It seems Mentors ahave backed off more mentoring the way ID remarks about his gharana folks. I am serious - mentors may be just enjoying like the rest of us.

ID is my fav mentor by the way.

Yes this could be true about other mentors, ID is certainly influencing song selection of his shishyas. Well this is my gut feeling...........

Hi N. sinha,

I do not know your authority in music, but R U trying say that you have more knowledge than AS, HR and ID? It is good information, but when information is targeted to put someone down, it is not appreciated. Learn to praise the talent.

Thanks

N. Sinha ,

You write that "Nihira is very good but 2 octave singing is no great shakes, this is kamaal of her guru ID who knows which song will hit the pulse of the people and which song should be avoided in front of judges."

Nothing can be further from the truth. In the public voting rounds the gurus have no say on the choice of the singers song selection nor are they aware of them beforehand. Do you not remember one of the first episodes when Rajeev sang a lower note song he was totally incapable of and AS was so angry on the song selection that he said " ye kaunsi song liya hai isne? Ye iski range ka hai hi nahin". Now would he have selected that song and said the same?Feel free to post opinions but not malicious content as facts - it is a gross disrespect. Also please notice the songs Himani chooses - she chooses the songs which are just a little difficult than her comfort level but are very popular. Whereas Nihira chooses the most difficult songs even if they are not popular. Which is why she doesnt apparently seem miles ahead - even though she is !!!
