Hi N. sinha,

I do not know your authority in music, but R U trying say that you have more knowledge than AS, HR and ID? It is good information, but when information is targeted to put someone down, it is not appreciated. Learn to praise the talent.

Thanks

Libra21

well It is not my intention at all, Ive always voted for Nihira, why I'll target her.

Hello Respect,
This is not to criticise Nihira..she is definitely highly talented..no qns on that. That 2 octave singing was hyped a bit too much while its not the case. It seems diff, but its the first thing u learn in alaap.
Rangeela re was a difficult song than HRHK. The post is to clear the myth behind the so called 2 octave singing. Thats all.

vidyaah,

And I meant no disrespect either. But answer this - if the 2-octave singing is the first thing that is taught in alaap .. then why didnt Asha Bhosle sing it in one go?? Why did she sing the Rangeela Re 3 different times (in 3 octaves) and then they synthesized the song to make it overlap? Come on Ashaji to ek hi baari mein gaa sakthi thi na...then why did she go to the trouble of singing 3 separate tracks? Obviously it is because it is not the easiest thing - and an usually unappreciative AS himself had to tell the whole world that singing 3-octaves in live and in one go was difficult and yet Nihira did complete justice to it. And it wasnt 2-octave it was 3-octave.

I just want to say that I don't think that Rangeela and Oopar Khuda are songs that are sung in numerous octaves. Nihira and Himani did a wonderful job singing those songs but they didn't modulate their voices, the songs just had a lot of jumping notes which is why they sounded like that. And the only reason Nihira sang in two octaves for Hare Rama... was because two singers sang it.

Octaves – Its not two different voices. Just cos Ashaji and Usha sang that song it does not mean ashaji cldnt sing it herself and hence usha's voice.
Octaves – Range/ Modulation of notes. Kacche daage and Rangeela re did have lots of modulations/octave jumping and so its difficult to sing those songs than HRHK which is in the same PITCH.

FYQ, Ashaji sang it 3 times and recorded.
Reason : Overlapping was required in the movie..which is before the first note you got to pik up the next one and sing. Live, Its not possible to complete the
Previous note b4 going to the next note( Octave). But in the movie it requires that the first note is complete b4 the second note starts. That's y 3 tracks. Not cuz Ashaji cldnt do it. Have u heard Mera kuch Saaman? She wheels ard octaves so easily.

Please note that Im a big fan of highly talented Nihira, the post was wrriten in order to clear the myth of much hyped 2 octave singing. Thanks vidyaah for replying all the posts. I'm grateful.
respect123, listen to Rangeela re, you will know yourself what was the reason of recording it iin different verses.
I don't know if you follow my posts, I've said atleast 1 month earlier that all the somgs in Izazzat which were by RD Burman were recorded in 3 goes beause Ashaji's voice appears before it disappears. I again say that singin in 2 octave while maintaining same scale is not very difficult thing, it needs practice.
NIHIRA IS HIGHLY TALENTED THERE IS NO DOUBT< SHE ROCKS...............

Please go through autobiography of Panchamda, you will get detailed reason why Pancham da used 2 singers for this song. Songs didn't have a lot of jumping notes, it is sung at high notes by Ashaji, ,more than modulation it needs range control.
Anyway why don't you give 3 cheers to Pancham da for making such songs.
