my dad is an ardent hindi film music fan and used to read a lot about the industry back then. i once commented how lataji never sang for O P Nayyar and he told me how they didnt get along because of her attitude. Sorry, i dont mean to offend anyone...im a lataji fan myself!
infact, ive heard that she used to ensure that she sang all songs in a movie and only some directors would not let her get away with it. suman kalyanpur and hemlata did not get a chance to sing many songs because if lataji was approached for one song, she would refuse to sing it unless the composer made her sing all the songs in the movie.
she even had issues with Rafi saab. and in an interview i heard, she sed that she would rehearse the song without him n do certain harkats which she wouldnt tell him about so that she would overshadow him in the song!
however, we all know that all stars and artistes have their quirks! Rafi saab n lataji churned out WAAAAYYYY to many hit songs n both were awesome!
