On a serious note to help them understand I asked for dislike button to ressolve the issue with like button 😃

oh i see, but i think dislike button can hurt people's feelings. i understand if they speak profanity the dislike is good, but sometimes people can just post their opinions that are different from someone else's.

Tulip, the "touchy-feely-crying-buckets-everytime-someone-disagrees-with-them" folks should not be on public forums to begin with. Seedha sa funda hai - not everyone will like what one posts here. If an option is given to express agreement/liking of someone's post then an option should also be given to show disagreement/dislike. This will keep things balanced because trust me - not everyone likes a post despite 10-20 people hitting like on it.

oh yeah, i agree with what you're saying about just b/c a post has lots of likes doesn't mean everyone agrees. i just think it's better to quote the person with your argument rather than hitting a dislike button b/c then the person knows your opinion. that's the purpose of a forum: discussion of ideas. i just think by hitting the a dislike button the person might take it to mean those 10 people dislike them...

Dislike buttons sounds good =)
And don't get rid of the like button.
People always want to know other people agree with them!

That's when all the dhoom dhadaka happens on this forum😆 You try telling someone why you don't agree with them or dislike their post and some of them go all berserk and start bashing the poster instead of addressing the post. And then their pack-mates come in swarms just to hit like on the personal bashing they just did. Some of the likes are from members who don't even post regularly in that section where the discussion took place😆
That said; I do realize where you are coming from. Your pov applies to all rational people posting here. Unfortunately - not all members here are that way.

that's true! i've to some forums and have gotten "yelled at" (if you can call it that 😆) for posting something others didn't agree.

but when people sharing differing ideas in a mature manner, then it's fun.

Sometimes you accidentally click like button on the post which you either do not care or do not like. I want dislike to balance such mistake. Else I hardly care bout like or dislike button. Who cares like or dislike your post. Personally it does not matter even if whole bunches of people dislike my posts. I dont give rat ass .
