Hmm freezer trick. Never heard of it. I'll have to keep it in mind. I have an old HP media center I was hoping to refurbish. It worked fine for a bit, then hummed, then buzzed then 'click of death'. No data to recover really, just get he disk running. Recovery disks and boot disks don't seem to work. Its just lying on my floor now with no home or purpose.

Hardware is not my forte. The UW continued education has a build your own PC at home course, I've been meaning to take that. Someday, I want to build my own PC with uber cool mods.

Even if the hard disk works after the freezer trick, it only works for 10-20 minutes. At the most you may make some backup or just do that experiment out of curiosity.

I read about it on the Internet. Oh you dont need to take a course for building a PC. There are many tutorials out there and many youtube videos. Just carefully select your parts and plug them in one by one.
