I was listening to this podcast on Kavita Chibber's website. It's a special for his birthday with includes an interview with him plus his top 10 songs chosen by his fans. (I also sent a mail with my choices....let's see how close I am)

finished listening to it and typing all this up! The results are kind of surprising for me. It also has him talking about each song.
10) Main Agar KahoonI'm surprised that it made this list when he has much better songs. I was even more surprised by what he had to say (in a pleasant way)..He said this is not one of his favourite songs because when he compares it to Ajab Si of the same movie it doesn't seem as good. I applaud his honesty!
9) Kal Ho Na Ho - Ajnu will love this!I was expecting this song here but I'm surprised it's only #9! Sonu said this song is abstract like the Mona Lisa. You can't tell exactly what type of a song it is - happy or sad, and that's what he kept in mind when singing it.
8) SaathiyaHe said that before he sang this song Gulzar saab called him to his house and explained the complicated lyrics to him in detail so that he could get the feel.
7) Satrangi ReHe said he was very young when he sang this song and he was doing so many other things like TV shows and concerts at the time so by the end of the recording he got very tired and asked ARR for a 30 minute break. He did riyaz for 15 minutes and came back and sang the rest.
6) Mera Rang De Basanti Chola3rd Rehman song in a row! 👏 He said this is a challenging song to sing and he feels lucky to be a part of such a song.
5) Bheege Bheege (Classically Mild) -
VD you will love this one!😃Very pleasantly surprising to find this song here! It is one of the most beautiful songs in the album. Speaking of the album he said that the praise he got for his work here from everyone including legendary classical musicians matters more than it's commercial value. He also said that each and every song in this album has heart felt emotions and are very special.
4) Tera Jadoo Chal GayaAnother surprising entry in the list! He said this is a difficult song which never got it's due at the time it released but now it is sung in every reality show, so good work does eventually get recognized.
3) Soniyo (reminds me of Piya!) tied with
In Lamhon Ke Daaman Mein2 recent songs which are fresh in the listeners' mind. I'm not exactly surprised about Soniyo but I don't exactly agree with it being at #3. He said that the composer Raju Singh is a very dear friend of his and was his first friend in Bombay. This song was sung by about 9 singers who were all rejected before they finally approached Sonu ji.
About In lamhon ke daaman he said that it's a beautiful song which didn't get it's due.
2) Bijuria 😆 - wooooooohooooooo!!! I'm loving this one!!😆 Now this is one song that is in it's right place!! Sonu ji said that this is an evergreen song and one of his most favourites to sing on stage. It's just wild and out of this world!
1) Sandese Aate HainHe said this song was a life saver for him as he was in desperate need of a big hit at that time. He said it was a great song that was much better compared to the rest of the music at the time and he knew it would be a hit but it became an even bigger hit than he imagined!
One of my all time favourite songs which truly deserved to be #1 IMO
