in one of the old sare gama contests (before the voting system was introduced) there was a little girl in the children's saregama who attempted this song. I remember usha mangeshkar was the judge and she had applauded her for her bravery to attempt this song. She had done a really commendable job!!!

IMHO Poonam brought down the scale, this song is based on 4 diff raagas ( I will dig out an article on this song) and you listen to her rendition she was unable to hit sa in kharaj sur, aalap and taan needed to be more fine, sur ka problem tha, a rendition of a classical song which is strictly raag based shouldn't have scale change, and this should be one of the criterias, simply singing a song for the heck of it should be discouraged IMHO.

Yes it was a brave attempt but nothing more.

This song has 3 versions in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, can you pls enlighten about tamil version Anu, done by Ghantasala & Susheela.

There is already an article about it which was written by Barnalidi.. I will chk the archive topic and get the link.. About Tamil version also I will get the info.. I heard one guy in tamil musical reality show singing this song in tamil... He sung it great.. It showed that he was well trained singer... Will get that link as well for you all to listen..
