I have been using Firefox now for almost 6 months. I too started using it after my comp crashed because of the virus problems. After that it has been working smoothly, touch wood.

Vijay thanks a lot to you for the additional information that you have given regarding IE and Firefox.

A nice post Vijay ji...

Being in Seattle, its hard to find other supporters of Firefox here (other than some of us junkies 😆)...

A couple of points...

Microsoft had earlier disbanded its IE team but FF took away IE's share of the market and it dropped down from 94% to 88%. In its beta version, MSFT has now included tabbed browsing as well...

There are some real cool extensions out there for FF. MSFT might get "inspired" (like some of our current MDs 😉) and incorporate these into IE but the fact remains that there are bound to be more innovations in an open source product...

Tip:
You can open multiple pages at once when you start you FF browser. At the homepage location in General Options, this is how mine reads.

Hi all, Glad that people are happy with Firefox browser.

I find it really great, specially about the wonderful "tab" facility, blocking pop ups and also user can decide which site he can allow pop ups, and generally very user-friendly.

Even the options are more easy to understand as compared to IE.

Among the drawbacks that I found was that some sites specially some menus in on-line stock trading sites in India are not displyed properly in Firefox but work ok in IE. May be that has something to do with the design of the website perhaps.

Also, I found some Tamil language fonts do not work properly in Firefox but work ok with IE. In the font download page also, it is mentioned that IE is preferred.

Apart from these minor hiccups, Firefox is really great.

Thanks so much for posting this thing up here Vijay. I totally agree with you. Although Mozilla takes double the time for some pages to load but it's way better than Internet Explorer.

Have been using Firefox and have just updated it to the latest version today- it's just too good for words:))) For all of you stuck with IE6- go grab Firefox
