Rubi 25th Aug. short update

Episode 1 (25th August 08)

This story is about a girl who is witty, mischievous, free-spirited and intelligent yet very sensitive to her parent's feelings, who themselves very strongly believe in being upright and honest in life. Rubi lives in a close knit family of her parents, an elder sister and a younger brother. The story starts from Rubi's childhood where she cheats to win in a race so that she can get the 21 inch color TV, offered as the first prize. Rubi's father however refuses to accept the prize and advices her to walk on the path of truth. He ties a rudraksh thread around her wrist which will always serve as a reminder of the values that have been inculcated in her and stop her from taking any wrong step. The story next catapults to where Rubi has grown up to be a responsible youngster who always abides by the values taught by her father. Rubi's sister, Seema's marriage is fixed with Shirish. The family is celebrating the 'Tilak' ceremony of Seema and Shirish. Kamla, Rubi's aunt is on a mission of her own. She tries to break Seema's wedding so that she can get her daughter, Makdi married to Shirish. Contractor Dubey, a corrupt and opportunistic person coaxes Rubi's father Vinaykant Dewan who holds a high position in a government office to sign on some illegal documents. Shirish's parents demand a dowry of 25 lakhs and threaten to call off the wedding. Rubi's father is in a dilemma whether to accept the bribe sacrificing his values of honesty and truthfulness. Rubi is a mute spectator to the drama that is unfolding right in front of her eyes. In the light of the current circumstances, Rubi's belief in the values of honesty and integrity is being questioned and this leaves her completely in a dilemma.
