Astitva. Identity. I keep coming back to this over and over in this serial as it plays an important part in relationships. Who you see yourself as vs how people see you.
Anami sees herself still as a simple girl from small town Benaras who has no use for English, who thinks she can go back to life as she knew it a year ago, Panditayen is her mom. But reality is she is the LM heir, the biological daughter of Baldev and Satrupa and a very rich girl. What she sees herself as has less value than what others see her as. Hence the surprise during Ladoo's kidnap. Anami could never understand why someone would kidnap Ladoo for money for in her mind she had none.
Gayathri, for her khoon matters most of all. She did not treat Satrupa well, for her Vikram chose Satrupa over Baldev and she has not been able to get over that even though it is Satrupa who does the work and sacrifices for LM while her son whines at his treatment and listens to old Hindi songs in his room. She accepted Anami right away and bonds with her because somewhere she recognized her khoon even before the DNA test. This even caused her to form an alliance with Satrupa.
Satrupa's is more complex. Her base identity to her is mother. The mother of Vatsalya. The mother who sacrificed her twins to LM darkness, who had to give up her daughter and did not where she was, how she was, was told to have no contact to save her and who despises her now. Satrupa is the kind of mother who kills to protect her own, the kind who gives a blood sacrifice of her own blood for her child. But this identity that she thinks she has always conflicts with the LM bahu. Satrupa is the one that finished the first round with Sudha and Purushotam. She tells Anami so during the episode when Sudha is brought in. That is why Purushotam knows what kind of opponent Satrupa is. He has met her before, she was very young then, but even then proved better than all the LM wasis in vanquishing him. The LM wasis use the bahu version of Satrupa for their selfish reasons. All except Vikram who has treated her like a son, not daughter. Even then her identity as a woman has been set aside by others. Life has made Satrupa a fighter, a survivor, a person who draws a line in the sand. That line in the sand caused Vatsalya to run away so she will do anything to be mom to her one remaining biological child. But will she sacrifice Ladoo ? The biological child of a woman who raised Satrupa's cast off daughter with so much love Anami still cling to her and all the designer clothes and money of LM will not replace the simple clothes made by Madhoo Pathak. Ladoo, a child Satrupa brought to control Anami by threatening his mom, but is trusting her so much he runs to her for protection, who has made her smile just by being himself. Will she put Ladoo in danger so she can be Anami's mom ? The LM bahu has been used and abused by all, but the mother in Satrupa has always been the best version of her. For that version to be the dominant person and be the version Satrupa sees herself as LM Bahu personality has to die. Satrupa has to make a clear choice of right over selfishness.
Last, Dheeru. I am still not convinced he is not involved in some capacity with Purushotam and Sudha. He may not know all the details, but he knows something and his motive is LM wasis annihilation for revenge. He could even have knowledge of Vatsalya's killing when it was planned. To him Vatsalya is Baldev's son. A life for a life. Bible old testament justice. There is a confrontation building between Adhiraj and Dheeru I feel in which Adhi has to face some bitter truth about his family and make hard choices.
NS just kills it. One of the best actresses I have ever seen.
