Dreamer, while I concur with you about Pagli Panditayan, I will reserve my opinion about Sudha for now and do not completely agree about Satrupa.

We really dont know what her story is to draw this conclusion that Narottam is an outcome or rather a tool for vengeance. Yes, right now, he seems the pawn in the game but the beginning is something which lacks clarity. Was Sudha thrown out after she had a kid or did Baldev dupe her with false promises only to leave with a kid or did Sudha use the kid angle to trap Baldev only for it to backfire or was LM her motive all along and did she seduce Baldev.. so on and so forth.
All these possibilities lend different renditions of Narottam's existence. Sudha could have become matlabi later on and not necessarily at the onset. That way, personally, I do not see much of a difference between Satrupa and Sudha. Both are self centred and true to Anami's repartee to Satrupa today, she thinks of the impact any action has on herself/ her motives.. even if its through her kid.
She has yet to think of those times she lost with Anami, have not made an iota of effort to understand what maketh Anami.. her hobbies, her passion, her past life in Benaras etc etc.. All her activities for Anami revolve around her getting groomed for LM and RS - to groom her to take the mantle of ownership.. Anami is not a person to Satrupa... atleast unlike Vatsalya..

Thinking of Baldev here, the Casanova did interestingly end up with relationships with two strong women.. must say something of his choice!

I agree Sudha's story is still to unfold but her behaviour towards Narottam is unpardonable. No matter what her situation was she opted to take this path of destruction.
A mother no matter how bitter she is will always always try to do what's right for her child.

I won't compare Satrupa and Sudha because Satrupa as a mother to Vatsalya was loving, she did put the expectations of Lal mahal and the heir pressure on Vatsalya but we forget that Vatsalya didn't bother to rebel nor confide in his mother that his heart is not into this responsibility.
Narottam on the other hand has subtly unconsciously conveyed to Sudha his yearning for love. What does she do on hearing the boy's words? Feed him a piece of chilli, dragged him back into her world of bitterness and hate.

Baldev is one interesting character 😆 quiet a history he has. I'm eager to see his past life.

I think she is the very same mother to Vatsalya,

Somehow I can't agree to this 😭

She was head strong unemotional but when it came to her personal interaction with Vatsalya the special ma-beta times. She took the time out for Vatsalya. Read him well but she chose to cover it under her indifferent avatar but when he was really hurting, she tried to be there for him.

With Anami she's just assuming that Anami should take her word as it is and agree to it. Anami doesn't know who Satrupa is. Her birth mother is a stranger to the child. With what Haq should Anami listen to Satrupa. Poonam the Servant girl is more tuned into Anami's moods. Satrupa was very proud that Anami has got a Dammo in Poonam. Is she hinting that her own family hasn't understood her only her helper understood her?

If that's so shouldn't she try rectifying that in her daughter's life? As a mother shouldn't she take the effort to understand Anami?

What a deep post Benna, and I see that its coming right from your heart.🤗
You have brought about a fantastic notion that juxtaposes the world's first and most precious relationship known to a human, the relation of blood, of love, of power, of blooms and of nothing but deep seated trust that instills within us a faith to make us who we are. And ironically, it is this very relationship that forms and imparts strength to most of us, if not all, no matter whether the one who brings us into this world is there to watch over us or not, the love resonates around and lives on...forever...

Being a mother is an attitude, not a biological relation.

Madhu Pathak, the barren and parched soul who was deprived of motherly satisfaction is blessed one fine day when she becomes the mother to an abandoned child and her heart acknowledges the tiny bubble of hope that looks right through soul, stashing it with the love that bursts open and embraces the little life who is dependent on her. And the rest as they say is history.

To Madhu, Anami is her lifeline. They are bonded for life through the years that have gone by that Madhu has duly spent in nurturing the young and fierce lioness that Anami is today, giving her the sanity of a home and the shade of her love, so much so, that Anami is willing to take on the odds and challenge the negatives, just so she is united to the mother her heart loves and cherishes.

And true to a fact, Madhu to Anami is the face of the mother a child longs for and would never want to part with, until eternity and beyond.

Perhaps, it takes courage to raise children

Satrupa Baldev Singh, is the viscountess who has spent her life in correcting the wrongs that were thrust upon her by destiny, and the one who today stands corrected in her judgement of giving up her child. Yes, she wronged. Yes, she is a reflection of sins that she had committed once. But deep down within that tough exterior of a baroness lies the vulnerable mother whose scared to lose, whose dared to hope again and the one whose willing to fight to get what she thinks is her's.

And the inane need to undo the blemishes has pushed her into an introspective interlude where she adamantly acknowledges that whatever she did was to protect her children, to save the little souls whom she had nurtured within and brought to life. But the irony of it all is that she lost out to fate what she was desperately clinging to protect, her heart being stabbed and stashed out from within her as her beckon light departs to heavenly abode.

So what we see now is nothing but the caricature of the woman that was, the mother that was, one who is capable of love and yet, she cant dare open the deep recesses of her innermost self and accept her daughter whose within her reach and yet, so so far. And as she waits on the sidelines for that one sign of acceptance from her daughter, the only thing she faces is resistance and opposition in her war to give Anami her due. But Satrupa is unstoppable and far from giving up, because fight she must and fight she will... for winning over Anami's love that be her undying salvation, lo and behold.

And as we embark on this journey which traces the path of Anami's quest to do the right and serve the just while protecting her loved ones, it will be interesting to see how both, Madhu and Satrupa, rise to become her armour and sword, pushing her to take on the demons as the world around watches by.

Imo, but Sudha to me is not a mother and definitely doest come across as one, so I will not write about her at all, she is just a clawing woman whose set out to seek revenge and nothing else. But yes, a word of appreciation for Gayatri whose the kind and approachable mother figure, not just to the likes of Baldev, but to Anami as well.

Once again, I would like to congratulate you for such sheer brilliance of thoughts that you have penned so lovingly here. Thank you !!

Benna,

I think you yourself explained why the attitude has differed from V to A. It is the difference in the attitude of the child that S reacts to. If Anami was an obedient kid like Vatsalya, she would have showered her affections on her too.

Satrupa hurts for Anami too. She watched over her daughter as she slept outside, and felt her pain, as she rebelled. For quite some time, she was silent about it, she thought time would heal.

Satrupa's parenting instincts tell her to be strict where required. Since Anami has declared she hates her twice as much, and Avdhoot is so close to being the heir, Sat is in a hurry. She knows the way to get quick results is to blackmail Anami.

Vatsalya was more like a friend to Satrupa. He was he best friend. She didn't have to make him win on the piano or elsewhere. Vatsalya simply stepped down, since he adored his mother.

The mother-daughter equation is always different from mother -son. Without any of these complicationsin my life, and sometimes without much of a reason , I am the one who questions my mother's decisions...and I am very open about it. My brother, on the other hand, loves to pamper her. She is the very same mother. It is just that our expectations from her are different.

Satrupa does know she is in the wrong. But what is done is done. She has asked for apology in her own way, but now she thinks it is Hugh time they started moving on. She finds Anami to be loud and disrespectful, she hopes that will change with education and change in environment. She knows winning over Anami will take a long time, but she doesn't have the luxury of time. So she sticks to the Pathak family stick to make Anami bend, knowing very well it is going to alienate her further from her. Sometimes I even wonder if she thinks Anami will ever love her back... She has just decided being the heir is the best thing for her daughter and she will get her that right. It will take some time for her to understand that daughters are not as quickly forgiving as sons...

I love this version of a mother too. She is a darling, though a little clueless. 😉😳 So let her grow... As she gets to know her daughter... that beyond the fighting spirit, there is a keen sense of righteousness that guides Anami.

😳 You're right a mother son bond and mother daughter bond is different. Girls tend to enjoy countless arguments with their mothers 😆 I think mothers too enjoy those moments.

Satrupa cares for her definitely and she does let her have her way to a point. I guess she's following her motherly instincts towards Anami. She's at the moment more concerned about making Anami fit to be dadaji's choice.
Somewhere in her heart Satrupa wants Vikram's approval. Isn't it clear that only Satrupa's child gets to be the waaris? So if she wants she can confront Dadaji.
