First of all, I would like to say my intentions are not to criticize the show, because if that's exactly what you're thinking i'm upto then I'm very sorry to say that you're definitely gonna regret it! I don't like mincing my words for no apparent reason, and this is certainly not the case here.

Rishta.com is one show which has the capability to upturn the Hindi Tv Industry single-handedly, but alas.. from all the shows "currently" on air.. This one is the one which doesn't get even half a season to prove itself, a few episodes just a handful or a fingerful( if that's even a word that exists).. Its pathetic how just a bunch of executives sitting in a conference room or even a chai ki dukaan in the side of the road *rolling eyes* are able to decide, the type of entertainment that, we, the audience wants to watch, when they themselves have never seen the pathetic content currently "on air" on their very own channel! It just goes to say that there's no quality in Tv programming today.. and its really unfair to blame the audience for such poor ratings, when the people who really need to be blamed are the so called executives who exactly know the pulse of audiences!

These people need to realise, that in an industry to survive you need atleast a few loyalists! Unfortunately they think, that today's liberated audience is just interested in rural villages, where girls are sold off for a few bundles of cash, women being mistreated everywhere, child brides, desperate farmers behind young females who are not even fit to be their daughters or even granddaughters in some cases, etc.. Its highly hypocritical for channel executives to complain that this is exactly what the audiences want to see .. wen the truth is you just don't give them a choice to see something new since u have simply no faith in your very own product which you launched amongst such great fanfare! It takes some time for changes to take place, nuthing ever happens overnight, and even if it does its just for a short time! Honestly, how long does it take for them to realise that if you're gonna give them exactly what other channels are offering.. i.e., "rural-crap!" then why exactly will they watch your channel wen they get better "rural" stories with more "shocking twists" on the others? Isn't it better to keep a few viewers happy and hooked, rather than lose the number of viewers that you've still got left? U have the classes, but u want the masses.. U change for the masses, and in the end u have nothing.. just a big fat zero!!

Godh-Bharai seriously??😆 I am pretty sure, no1 even knows that show even exists!

YRF did their bit by experimenting, but instead of complimenting them and congratulating them for making something so good and new, they decide to cut the shows off?

Rishta.com may not the best looking cast on tv, but the sure truly do know how to act! Unlike certain "stars" on currently "rural" shows.. The storyline is much more relatable to a youthful audience than a lusty thakur wanting a weird looking chick he's trying to bone since god knows when.. Sadly, stuff like that is what gets the ratings!

Back to R.com, the actors, Shruti Seth is spontaneous and her expressions are just superb week after week!! She emotes with such grace even in scenes where she has no lines too! Kavi Shastri, man dude that guy has guts to try in something which is not his mother tongue for sure.. He's doing a much a much better job, as compared to the "Munna" of television, who recently won an award for Best Actor😲.. At this rate im pretty much sure, that when the "Telly Awards Season" will be here, the guy won't even get a nomination in the Best Newcomer category.. since R.com will be forgotten long before it could have gotten a chance to breathe!

The rest of the supporting cast is superb as well! The storyline is quite to the mark and the production values are definitely top-notch.. The direction is quite something that other shows need to learn from! All in all if we won't get a second season of Rishta.com, its not coz the show sucks, or the actors suck or we as viewers suck since we are unable to give them their desired "TRPs" but because the Sony officials themselves don't realise the true potential of this show or any other show that deserves much more airtime than "rural" mentality! What about us "Urban" lot?? Don't we deserve some lot too?😕

Thanks guys for reading, I just wish they get some sense and give Rishta.com a second season with an even better timeslot.. say like C.I.D! cos if it wouldn't have got that chance to prove itself, wud it have run for 12-13 years in a row??

Well said!!

I think the majority of tv viewers comprise of rural India. And they can't relate to this show. I think that Rohan's and Ruchika's hitting on ppl and sleeping with different people isn't going well with them. They want sari clad crying married ladies as depicted on the saas bahu sagas talking about 'sanskaar' and stuff like that. Stuff like this go very well with them like Divorcing to sacrifice for the family, marrying another man to save the financial condition of her family, divorce, marriage atleast twice,etc.....This show is definitely meant for a different kind of audience. By no means this means I have ignored the urban population of India, but its just that they seem to be a minority when it comes to watching TV.
I dont know but I think the same type of show but in rural setting with Rohan-Isha as Ranabhai - Indu devi speaking to cows and goats and you will get sky rocketing TRPs! This is the sad state of TV now.

It's about time when people believe in shows other than Kekta's! :P

I agree with each n every word !!!

This show had the potential to give a real character to the television industry which is it badly needs !!!!!!

Every now n then a new show cums up which have either the theme of sisters , struggling family , child issues , n ofcourse rural themes which seems the be the the toast of today's tellyworld

Rishta.com is a completely fresh show with extremely competent bunch of actors😛.. From the lead to the lady who plays the receptionist.. they all knw thr work well !!.. A Special mention to Kavi.. he is a real find .. now thts wat i call an actor....... A word which the this telly word dunno.. all they knw is uncalled suspense , rona dhona n actors who maintain the same expression all thro the show🤔

I wish i wish i wish Rishta.com wud have been given sum time to prove its worth.. but alas

Rajveer if you were next to me I would hugged you...but I think this will do🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

thanks so much for this post! I agree with everything...I swear I'm boycotting all saas bahu crap right now that my parents watch...seriously enough is enough...finally we get a show that most people especially the urban audienes (even the NRIs) can relate to...and this is the crap treatment it gets?? screw you Sony TV...seriously...YRF needs its own channel...atleats then the shows can have chances to shine without the crap TRPs and the unfair way it is recorded

Very well said...and i agree with everything you write about. This is how Indian Television should be. It should have a target audience and actually for once achieve it's goal. It uses REAL settings and places which make the show realistic unlike other shows which use the same old boring sets in every show on TV which doesn't account for anything. Everyshow with a struggling female protagonist. Someone needs to get some inspiration and head into this direction. It saddens me that shows like this & Mahi Way are being cut off soon as TRPs aren't being achieved. But yea they are very well made shows which deserve to have more seasons.

I never watched Rishta.com, however, I don't understand why are they putting shows off air? Even Mahi way and other shows YRF shows are expected to go off air somewhere soon in June 😕 They say they will come with another season again.🤬 Yeah right, and then conveniently it will go off air again.

But if the show is doing so well and it is liked by the youth then I say why even go off air? All Sony worries about is the TRPs.

The youth based YRF shows look so much more realistic without the usual tremendous and loud back ground score every saas bahu show has that is so unrealistic and hypothetical.
Its not at all right to judge a show by just airing a few episodes. 👎🏼
There must have been max 15 episodes of Rishta, that is all it takes to chuck them out?

Whatever it may be, anything is better than the tangled saas bahu tracks or like returning from the dead miraculously and indecent stuff under the garb of romantic love 🥱

Shame on Sony 👎🏼

They definitely need to restructure their promotional strategies.

Hi Rajveer....dear i agree with u upto 90%...(i'lll tell later why not the rest 10%)....although i don't think Sony TV airs any rural india based show....but ya, the general content on tv these days is no doubt Rural only!.....And there are no two ways that we urban educated ppl find those shows SUCKING!!!!.....But i guess there are phases on telivision....like during the time of Kyunki Saas Bhi... majority of the shows were Saas Bahu based, and were not rural India based....but since the time Balika Vadhu has become more like a ''phenomenon''....almost every other show being made today is issue based and with a rural back drop!.......And this tv being a business field, the channel ppl don't dare to take risk!...and then like u said- they blame the audience for having a liking to such shows and thus for the inc. in their number!!......So undoubtedly, i agree with u!!😊

And now the rest 10%....dear, the things which they highlight in such shows are actually prevailing to a massive extent in India!!....And when the rural audi. watches such shows, they do get the courage to fight back that problem!!....So frankly, there's nothing bad in making such shows.....But what is refraining is that the ''number of such shows''!!.....Because afterall, tv is an entertainment business, so these executives should keep a record of the quantity of a particular kind of shows they are producing!!....they make their channel viewing monotonous!!....and thus they suffer.....like i used to love watching NDTV Imagine when that channel was newly launched, what with the shows like- Radha ki Betiyan and Saroj Khan's dance show!....But now it just has village content and nothing else at all.....

So ya....i agree with u....but in a ratio of 9:1 😊

hey rajveer...nice post!

u very well expressed the sentiments of all that love R.com .. however I wud disagree wit u on a point when u say that the audience is NOT to b blamed.. and only the channel authorities are to b blamed.. yes, the channel authorities are to b blamed too..but a bigger share goes to the audience.. because an audience MAKES the success or failure of a show...yes, I agree that the channel shud learn to believ in their own products for once..I also agree that no change is overnight and it shud b given sum time to absorb etc .. but then the channel is thinking practically and if it sees R.com losing those TRPs that it hasnt gained then it wil hav to rethink twice ..

like u said..masses count more than class .. and thats exactly what has happ in this case too! see, basically R.com appeals to us urban youths because its something that v can relate to, right? and jus how much is this urban lot when u go onto consider the entire population of India that is responsible for TRPs? I dont think its much .. mostly, its older ppl that watch TV..and esp since they hav changed the timings from weekends to weekdays, most of the youth is working and they dont find time .. and given a choice these older ppl will definitely want to watch a bahu fighting wit her saas than rohan and isha dealing wit their client in a matrimonial .. because thats what they relate to more! they hav been soo used to revolve their life around family values or that whole drama etc and they love to see only that in their shows .. and thus, those shows sell on TV ..

see, now R.com is something of the genre of jassi jaisi koi nahin.. something wit a fresh feel to it..and yet, that time jassi had gained soo many TRPs..better than R.com .. and u kno what was the basic difference, because alongwit the fresh feel to it..jassi also had some inherent "drama" factor to it.if the urban youth appealed the freshness of jassi, then the older youth appealed the drama and thus each section had a reason to watch this show .. whereas in R.com, its only the urban youth that can relate to it ..

u kno..had R.com sum kind of stupid and OTT drama added to it alongwith the youth factor, it WOULD hav gained better TRPs than what it is gaining right now..because, thats what sells .. sad, but true .. that really does sell ..

I dont even kno whether this outlook of the society is gonna change .. but yes, I wud definitely hope for that one day when either this outlook changes .. or the channel decides to look beyond jus a profit and think of us urban youth .. thinks for once abt class, instead of mass!

Rajveer i totally agree with you!
Sony has always disappointed me. They bring in such good shows, but after they found out the TRP is low, they end the show and im like WTF! :|
They don't give it chance and YRF has brought alot of good show's especially which us youth ppl enjoy alot but know cuz of the low TRP they decide to end it thas just BS! I love ristha.com and the cast and the whole storyline is wonderful! i truly would want a 2nd season.
Thank you Rajveer for bringing this up. :)
