Hey guys - I'm new to this forum - the past week I have been watching the first 4 episodes of Rishta.com online and I'm hooked!
The last epi has been the best for me so far!
Loved your epi analysis Mrids! Mahesh's self-defence mechanism didn't occur to me until you mentioned it! Awesome observation!
Mrids, after reading this topic one other thing occurred to me. One of the themes of this epi was change. People change for different reasons, and their near and dear ones do not always welcome the change, as you rightly pointed out.
Rohan couldn't handle the change in Dhruv and Isha and Naina did not like the change in Mr.Mirchandani (what's his name?)
Dekhne jao to the change each adopted was a positive one. Dhruv and Isha's dad became more health conscious. But I think each went too far. As mrids rightly pointed out - balance is the key. If Dhruv had limited alcohol intake and late nights instead of attaining sainthood, and if Isha's dad would have stuck with working out and a good routine instead of a drastic change in facial appearance then all would have been cool.
One other thing that caught my attention is that the 'sex' word was mentioned in this epi. Rohan says his brother has given up everything, even ...and Isha completes his sentence. I love the bindaas and urban feel of this show! Today's urban young adults say it like it is. And this show portrays it. It's fresh and different from other gharelu dramas. I hope it remains that way!
Another thing I notice about this show in general is that all the characters they show are multi-dimensional. There are no clear black or whites, goodies and baddies. Sometimes someone who at first appears crazy (like rashmi in the earlier epi) turns out to be not so bad, while Mahesh in today's epi was a gem, great sense of humour, charming and a nice guy, but we saw another shade to his character by the end. And there are many such examples. This is what most people are really like. They are shaded and layered. Everyone is not out and out good as the protagonists of other Indian shows. People have shortcomings and prejudices and yet have a good heart. These are real people. Another reason for loving this show!
