Part 3
Kabir felt the ground slip beneath him. His Ananya was doubting his integrity, his love for her. He didn't blame her. All the evidence was against him. But couldn't she see it in his eyes - she was his life and even the thought of harming was worse than death for him.
Kabir Sharma never gave explanations. But for once he was willing to violate his own rules.
Kabir: Every moment I share with you is sacred to me. I'd kill myself before violating our relationship and making a mockery of it.
Ananya paused for a while.
Ananya: Fine. OK i mean. I should get going?
Kabir (almost shouting): Fine? OK? That's all? Say something damn it. If you have more questions, ask me. If you are angry, shout. If you are hurt, cry. But please react!
Ananya: It's better if I maintain my silence.
Kabir: You don't believe me, do you? Be honest with me.
Ananya: My heart still does. But my mind is refusing to cooperate. It's asking me how much I know about you - about your past, your divorce, your alleged affairs. And I don't know what to say to quieten it.
Kabir: Am I to blame for that? I have been trying to tell you everything. But you never wanted to listen.
But it's not too late. I'll tell you everything, explain myself...
Ananya's phone rang. It was Arman who had called up to tell her that their mother wasn't feeling well.
Ananya: Kabir I need to go. Ma's not very well. We'll talk tomorrow.
Kabir: I'll drop you
Ananya: It's fine. I'll go on my own.
Kabir stood there looking at her walk away. He felt it was symbolic of their lives. She was fighting a tough battle between her heart and her mind and he heart looked like it was losing.
Next day Kabir had an early morning interview with the Finance Minister. He came into office around noon. Malvika informed him that Ananya had taken the day ioff because of some medical emergency. She added meaningfully
Malvika: Ronnie received a call from her a few hours back and even he went to the hospital. What a beautiful relationship they share.
Kabir checked his phone. He thought that Ananya may have tried contacting him, but he had had to leave his phone outside while interviewing the FM. But there were no missed calls from Ananya, not even a msg.
He rushed to the hospital. He saw Ronnie consoling Ananya and Arman.
Ananya: It's all my fault. Ma never approved of this relationship. But I insisted. And now this entire MMS fiasco - she has been under so much stress. And when she found out that the MMS has been traced to Kabir's no,it destroyed her..
It's all my fault.
Ronnie: Ananya stop doing this to yourself. Aunty is out of danger now. Come eat something. You haven't had anything from last night.
Ananya saw Kabir standing at a distance.
Ananya: You guys go ahead. I'll come in a while.
Kabir walked up to Ananya and held her hand.
Kabir: What happened?
Ananya: Ma had an anxiety attack last night. We called the doctor and she became fine. Then this morning her BP became really low and we had to rush her to the hospital. I called Ronnie and he helped me out.
Kabir: I hope aunty is fine now. What can I do? I am here now. You don't need to worry about anything.
Ananya: Kabir can you come outside. I need to talk to you.
They went outside.
Ananya: Kabir, my mother is the most important person in my life. After papa's disappearance Armana, Ma and I are the only family for each other.
Kabir: I realize that and love the fact that you have such an amazing family. In time I'd like to be a part of..
Ananya: Kabir let me complete myself. Since you came into my life I forgot my priorities. My mother has been stressed because of us. She had an anxiet attack when she heard the news of the MMS originating from your no.
Kabir please dont interrupt. I don't want to discuss whether you are guilty or not. Irrespective of that, our relationship is hurting the person that I value most in my life.
And i can't do that any more.
Kabir: Ananya what are you saying?! I am really sorry that Aunty is in this condition. And I'll do anything to make her accept us!
Ananya: Kabir you aren't listening to me.
I can't do this any more!
Kabir: Ananya I'll fix everything.
Ananya: Kabir listen to me. It kills me to be doing this. But I can't let our relation take a toll on my mother. I am breaking up with you.
