Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change
Part 1 :
Kabir Sharma
You are a wall-flower at heart...you know that is true. But, they feel you are an attention seeker.
They always find a way to talk about you, sometimes in hushed tones and sometimes loudly. But, did you ever intend it to be this way?
They are the reason for why you are the way you are.
Now you do not worry about how they treat you. You do not care what they think about you. Wall-flower or attention seeker, what difference would it make anyway?
And yet sometimes...
Sometimes you wish it did not have to be this way, that you really could be accepted as you.
It doesn't matter what the truth is and it seems nobody cares.
You are desperate for attention they think, case closed!!!
Everybody has heard about you, your birth story and beyond - you were conceived by means of in vitro fertilization and were brought into the world as a saviour for your dying elder brother.
Your parents were already divorced at the time of your birth. Your father had moved on in his life with the woman he had an extra-marital affair with and had nothing to do with you ever.
Your mother was so obsessed with your brother and his illness that she rarely cared for you. You donated everything that was needed to save your brother's life and at first the procedure was successful but then the cancer continued to relapse throughout his life and one day he finally died. Your mother could not bear the loss of your brother and finally committed suicide.
You were left alone. You saw your family pass away in front of you. You grew up at your father's but could never blend in.
They called you insensitive and self-centred when you gave words to your birth story in a monthly magazine column. They did not bother to feel the pain you went through since your birth but instead sympathized with your brother and mother.
It was not long after that, that your father died and you asked for your share in his property after all you were his biological son. You painted yourself as a victim again and asked for their support but they felt you were being selfish again because you fought for a small amount of money against your two little step-sisters while you had a decent paying job. All you ever wanted was your right and would have never once thought of abandoning your sisters after receiving your share. But they failed to understand your sentiments.
You not only lost the people who were close to a family you ever had but also your job because everybody felt you were using your profession to seek attention towards your personal issues.
Unfortunately for you, doing your job seems to mean annoying all the wrong people.
You already have a reputation as an attention seeker in the professional world now. Four jobs in less than 3 years now and you are counting down until the time you'll be fired from this one too.
You got married to a nice girl but it ended soon with you being tagged as an attention seeker again.
You really, really, weren't surprised.
They said you had an affair with your intern and that you were the father of her child. You kept her out of the trouble but they misjudged you again. You tried to tell your story but they condemned you again without thinking about you side of story instead pitied your ex-wife. You again lost you job without any logical reason.
After all you were an attention seeker; they have already built a perception about you to be one.
You are an attention seeker...over the years you have now grown more cynical and in a way started relishing the label.
When everything becomes too much and you wonder why bother at all? Why don't you play the game by their rules?
And that is what you have done over the last couple of years.
You finally glance down at the piece of paper in your hand sitting in a rented posh studio apartment in New York.
It said that the identity of the anonymous writer of daily kranti newspaper was none other than the editor-in-chief of KKN channel - Kabir Sharma.
And, that is the reason you are here in New York for past 4 months on Khalid's insistence. He wanted you to stay away from the professional world for a while till this matter cools down. He was the one who knew from the start that the anonymous writer who fights for the rights of the people and injustice towards them was none other than Kabir Sharma - the assumed attention seeker.
Justice, however difficult, will always come first to you. You'll live life on your own terms whether as Kabir Sharma or the anonymous writer.
