Chapter-8

She woke up early in the morning.It seemed to be a beautiful day.Seemed?No,it certainly was a beautiful day.She felt extremely vibrant.Maybe,it was because she had got a new friend. She went out of her room and found Tina,Vicky and Falguni at the breakfast table along with Aunty Sandra.

Morning everyone!!! Where are Ronnie and Nikhil?And where is...Arihant?',asked Rashi.

Nikhil and Ronnie will be here soon.And Ari has gone out with Elton.Whenever he comes here,he always goes out for a walk with Elton.',said Aunty Sandra.

Lucky Elton',said Rashi and she giggled.

Rashi,are you all right?I don't believe it!! You are asking about Arihant.You,of all the people?? And you are not even calling him a moron?That is really,really,surprising.',said Tina.Before Rashi could reply,someone else did it for her.

Is it? I don't think so.Apparently,Ma'm and I became friends last night.',said Arihant as he joined them.

Friend?? But Ari bro,you are my friend!!!',said Elton and he made a face.

Cheer up,little one.Rashi is only my friend.But you are my best friend.',said Arihant and Elton became happy.

Then who am I??',asked Vicky and he made a face too.Arihant shook his head.

Iss sawal ka jawab toh bade bade gyaani log bhi nahin de paaye.Hum toh mamuli insaan hai.',said Arihant and everyone laughed.Arihant grinned as he sat on the chair which faced Rashi.Rashi was grinning too.

So,as I was saying Ma'm and I are now friends.',said Arihant.

Ma'm?? I told you not to call me Ma'm!!',said Rashi.

Please, Mohatarma.At least,you don't make a face now.',said Arihant.

That's better.',said Rashi.

Ronnie and Nikhil came there.Nikhil began moving towards the chair beside Falguni but Ronnie got there first.

Nikhil,come here.Sit beside me.',said Tina.Nikhil went to sit on the chair beside Tina.The chair face Falguni.

So,are we visiting the Taj Mahal today?',asked Ronnie

Yes,bro.Its really,really romantic',said Tina as she winked at Nikhil and put her hand on his.Falguni bit her lip.Nikhil removed Tina's hand looking uncomfortable.This went unnoticed by everyone.Except Arihant.

You guys carry on.I won't be able to come.',said Falguni.

But why Falguni??',asked Rashi.

Rashi,please!!!! I am not feeling well.',said Falguni.

Guys,let her be.She should take some rest.',said Arihant.

I am staying back too.I remember now.I have to work on an important case.',said Ronnie.

You too,bro!! Why? You always wished to visit the Taj Mahal.',said Rashi.

Rashi,I am staying back.And that is final.',said Ronnie.

Anyway,what will I do by visiting the monument of love if the one I love is staying back?',Ronnie thought to himself.

So,the others left for the Taj Mahal.As soon as they reached there,Tina immediately dragged Nikhil with her and Vicky followed them whereas Arihant and Rashi walked around the monument.

Should we get a tour guide?',asked Rashi.

Mohatarma,aap ko tour guide ki kya zaroorat hai?Arihant Saxena is your friend now.What do you want to know about it?I will tell you.Psychologist ke paise bachaye the na aapke.Ab tour guide ke bhi bacha lunga.',said Rashi.

Wow,first a counselor and now a tour guide.Mr Arihant Saxena,aapka koi asli profession bhi hai kya?',asked Rashi.

My profession changes as per the circumstances.Apne talent ko limits ke andar rakhna is not my cup of tea or to be more honest,my glass of coke.',said Arihant with his usual grin.

You are impossible,Ari,oops,Arihant.',said Rashi.

I am impossible and that is true.And you can call me Ari.It's what my friends and my loved ones address me as.',said Arihant.

Then,what am I? Friend or loved one?',asked Rashi.

Both.',uttered Arihant.

Rashi stopped smiling.She looked into his face.He stared back intently.

What did you say just now?',asked Rashi.

I said the exact thing that you heard from my mouth,Mohatarma.',said Arihant.

Really?Aapke priyajanon ki list mein ab mera naam bhi add hogaya hai?',asked Rashi.

Add toh kal raat ko hi hogaya tha.Jab aapne meri friendship accept kit hi.Dost toh priyajan hi hote hain,naa.',said Arihant.

Of course,we are friends.Friends aur loved ones mein zyada farq nahin hota hai.By the way,I am missing Ronnie.He always wanted to come here.What happened now?Was that case so important?',asked Rashi.

Yes.It certainly was important.',said Arihant.

What?',asked Rashi.

No.Nothing.But where were we?Yes,I will be your tour guide.What do you want to know about this place?',asked Arihant.

Anything.It is one of the greatest monuments of love,after all.',said Rashi as looked at the Taj Mahal.

Yes,it is.It is the symbol of a man's everlasting love for his wife.',said Arihant.

You are talking about love?But you don't believe in love,na?',asked Rashi.

Perhaps you did not hear me properly last night,Mohatarma.',said Arihant.

But you said na,love is like the apocalypse to you?',asked Rashi.

Yes,it is.Not only to me.But to every human being.Look Rashi,I don't deny the existence of love.No one can deny its existence.It is a force as well as an energy that always exists.Like Newton said,energy can neither be created nor can it be destroyed.It can only change from one form to another.Love destroys us completely and it also creates our new self.It sustains us in the coldest and darkest nights.It has the strength to make us as well as break us.When I say love,I don't mean agreeing to marriage over a cup of tea or giving gifts and clicking selfies together.This is not love.Love is the most powerful emotion on earth.It can make you do anything and everything.People often tend to lose their heads when they fall in love.And that is why I am afraid of it.

Afraid?Afraid of love? or afraid of falling in love?',asked Rashi.

Afraid of love.You are the first person to whom I am revealing my fear.This is the only thing I fear.Don't reveal this to anyone.As far as falling for someone is concerned then you must know that falling in love with someone is something which is not in your control.Sometimes I wish I was not like this.Look at the others.Its so easy for them.Get into someone's house aur chai nashte ke baad rishta pakka karlo.Or ask someone out,dates par jayo,selfies click karo and call it love.I can't do that.I don't feel like doing that.My heart is simply not in it.Why?Why am I so strange?',asked Arihant.

You are perfect the way you are Ari.You don't have to change yourself.',said Rashi.

Maybe,you are right,Mohatarma!! Waise bhi,saare genius insaanon mein thodi si ajeeb aadatein toh hoti hai.Saare scientists,poets,philosophers meri tarah thode ajeeb toh the hi.History stands as the sole witness.',said Arihant.Rashi laughed.

By the way,since we are discussing about history and love,let's play a game.Both of us will name a historical couple one by one.I will begin.',said Rashi.Arihant nodded.

Shah Jahan And Mumtaz Mahal'.,began Rashi.

Prithviraj Chauhan and Sanyogita'.,said Arihant

Mark Antony and Cleopatra.',said Rashi.

Napoleon Bonaparte and Josephine.',said Arihant.

Okay,Rashi.Now,I will count till three.Then,we will both name a couple exactly at the same time.Ready?One.Two.Three.',said Arihant.

Razia and Altunia.',they both said together at the same time.

They stopped.They did not know that whether it was only the two of them who had paused or time itself had frozen.They did not know.They stared at each other.Simply stared and nothing else.Their faces were expressionless for expressions are nothing but a mere reflection of our emotions.And at that time,they were caught in a hurricane of emotions.And all of a sudden there were no emotions.They did not feel anything.They did not even feel themselves.They forgot everything.Their names,their identities,everything.They forgot who they were or where were they.They were the only people present and there was no one else.They were not aware of anything.All they knew was each other.All they acknowledged was each other's presence.All they heard was each other's voice.It lasted only for a moment.Neither more nor less.Just a moment.

They were feeling awkward.They could not recollect that fleeting moment but they did feel strange.It was Arihant who broke the silence between them.

So,Mohatarma,you know about Razia Sultan?',asked Arihant.

Yes,I do.I read about her life in Nikhil's thesis.',said Rashi.

She was a great lady.Wise,just,brave and beautiful.One of her kind.You know what,if there is a lady whom I really admire,then its her.',said Arihant.

Rashi felt annoyed and happy at the same moment.Annoyed,maybe,because he said that he admired Razia Sultan and happy,strangely enough,because he said that he admired Razia Sultan.

So,you like her with Altunia?',asked Arihant.

Yes,I do.I don't know why but I do.Most of the people like her with that other guy,na.What's his name?',asked Rashi.

Yaqut.',said Arihant.He did not know why but that name always gave him a bitter feeling.

Yes,him.But I like her with Altunia.I simply do.You tell me.Why do you like them together?',asked Rashi.

Honestly,I have always felt that she was never in love with that Yaqut guy.They were friends.But people made an issue out of it.Altunia,on the other hand,died with her by her side.',said Arihant.

But he revolted against her.Didn't he?Everyone says that he was the cause of her downfall.',said Rashi.

The root cause for their mutual downfall was their love for each other.Just look at it like this.Altunia was her childhood friend.He supported her always and fought the world for her.He stood with her when no one did and helped her to get the throne.Why would someone do this?What would make someone do this ?Its love.He loved her.He became her strength.He probably worshipped her.And when he must have come to hear the rumours about her and Yaqut,he lost it.The man who had fought the world for his love decided to fight his love herself.They say,jiska dil ujadta hai woh duniya ujaad ne chalta hai.Kuch aisa hi hua hoga bechare ke saath.',said Arihant.

And what about Razia?',asked Rashi.

Razia.Well,I think that she loved him equally.But when she came to know that he had revolted against her,she must have been shocked.He was her biggest support.Then,what could have made him revolt?She assumed that he had betrayed her.It is obvious that she did not know the real reason.She was angry at him.If she had thought with a cool and calm mind then she would have met him and discussed the matter with him.I am sure that they would have sorted the matter.But as I said earlier,love makes people lose their brains.The same was the case with these two.Two intelligent people were so much in love with each other that they lost their heads.',said Arihant.

Wow,you seem to know pretty much about them.',said Rashi.

I never said that I know.I think that this is the matter.I think.No one knows what really happened,Mohatarma.',said Arihant.

I don't know what really happened.But the way you have analysed this matter,I really that this was the case.Anyway let's find the others and leave.',said Rashi.

As they were walking back,Rashi asked him a question.

Tell me one thing,Ari?Imagine yourself in Altunia's shoes.If you ever fall in love with someone in future and if someone tries to come in between you and your love,what would you do Mr Smartie?',asked Rashi playfully.But no reply came.She turned back and saw that he was standing there.He was not smiling anymore.There was an unfamiliar expression on his face.He came up to her.Then,he smiled.It was not his usual jovial smile.It was something different.

Rashi,do you know the meaning of my name?',asked Arihant in a soft voice.

But how is it rela..',began Rashi.

Rashi, do you know the meaning of my name?',asked Arihant.Rashi shook her head.

My mother named me.She found it different.But she did not know its meaning.Neither did my father.My name is Arihant.Arihant.It means the destroyer of enemies.',said Arihant.His voice sounded cold and ruthless.

That is why I am scared of Rashi.I know that if I ever fall in love with someone,I will love her so much it will get imprinted in my soul.I will worship that person.I will love her to madness.And I will fear nothing except losing my love.Love is dangerous,Rashi.Altunia lost his ability to think because he was blinded by rage.The same will happen to me.',said Arihant.

Rashi was shocked.She had never seen this side of him before.

If.If someone ever dares to come in between me and my love,then I will destroy that person.',said Arihant.
