1) The woman has a success story like no other PH. She rules the charts with TRP toppers running across every GEC channel.

2) Her heroines are strong characters, smart, spunky and bold. nN her own words "the females in my show have and will always be strong"

3) Her female lead takes home the trophy - at least once!

4) No budget issues like one of Sanz old PHs dressed her up in Lord knows what!

5) Working with Balaji means creating history!

I know everyone here has been giving some amazing suggestions on storyline and concepts, but may it be author-backed character or an adaptation; if it does not make it at the TAM ratings, it will shut shop sooner than we think leading to us fans crying foul and disappointment. (And honestly we all would not want that to happen to Sanz again)

I think creativity exists in abundance. If we the fans can come up with such amazing storylines, there are people out there in the industry who eat, think, sleep concepts. But is the broadcaster ready to buy that story, is a TRP viewer willing to change his viewing mindset? Eg 24, Yudh, LAT, EHT, Chaal, RR, Bawre (each genre different, some male centric, some thrillers & others out of the box)

Until the TAM rating system goes through a major overhaul, content won't change much. Ofcourse PHs will take risks and offer different concepts and storylines. But there are no success guarantees.

Right now I see Ekta the one with the Midas touch formula. She has the guts and knows the pulse of her audience.Plus channel give into her demands. For she is brings in the desired numbers for them.

Let me give you one example. EK is planning an intense rustic/rural love story on a new channel Sony Pal (note all her current shows are urban). She chose the 7 pm slot. When asked by media why so?, her answer was, "since the show will cater to the rural crowd, I wanted to catch the early slot." This rang a bell for me? Deja vu! See how differently we fans think!

Also here are links to some insightful reads. I love what the man writes and have learnt a thing or two of how it works. We fans are an emotional lot but it makes sense to read what top media professional think and say...for me it was a learning curve of how things work in the industry.

Apart from this, if ever there is a Wake UP Sid made for TV with Sanaya then I would suggest this name for the young ML. Dont know how many of you have seen the young Haider in the movie. He is a TV actor and gorgeous looking - Anshuman Malhotra. Tall good looking yet with a baby face. Also another adorable teen hero...Rohit Saraf! Dont ask where I dig these names. Have seen them perform! 😉😆

p.s. I won't be frequenting the thread as always. But yes will pass by sometimes if I have anything interesting to share. Diya love your story concept.

@dd - my thoughts exactly on Ekta - bang on, i could not have put it more accurately - this has been going in my head the past few weeks. with Ekta like any other PH there is a plus and minus...so y not an Ekta show somethings will be assured !

Personally am not keen on Wake up Sid remake - according to me that film worked for music, ranbir etc. This is a hitherto new subject on TV - i am not very sure - i kind of hv my doubts on TRP for this but yeah the story has possibility to be stretched into different tracks. Sanayas tryst with romance leans towards heros who kind of bossed over the heroine at the start then fall in lovege. types, macho types so i am wondering if i can look at her falling for a younger guy ...i am not able to cross that stage. Of course being Sanaya starved as long as i see her regularly this should also be ok.

Thanks @nik...

You have a point with WUS...its too bold a concept plus something like this can be a Seasonal show. Not beyond 100 episodes or less. I guess 5 to 10 years from now Sanaya could do something like this. The reason being she looks so young and her striking and innocent beauty has to be counter matched with arrogant, macho heroes.

Lets hope for the best...though she will take up something challenging...the question is the success story of it all. Hence as you too say EK is a guaranteed one!

@DDSoaps: Fantastic points on Kekta Mata 😆

I admit that I have immense respect for her and the work she creates, but I still wish that she begins to do finite series.. at least one where the endgame is set 1.5/2 years down the line tops. Because no show and I mean no show can sustain itself beyond 250 odd episodes creatively. If there are any economists around, I am sure they will be able to plot it into a curve.. the law of diminishing marginal utility, a point beyond which it is not rewarding for the creatives, actors or the audience. The problem is, it is sometimes rewarding for the channel and which is why we are tortured until the end of time.

Heard Kekta is working on Razia Sultan. If she is, and if Sanaya can do something like that it might be interesting. I say might because I have watched the Bollywood version of it and it was rather dull. There is no point playing an empress, when your character does not have many shades. So, much of it will depend on how the screenplay is. Also, slightly weary of a historical that remain so untrue to history for the sake of drama. It is acceptable in cinema which lasts no longer than 2.5 hours, but not so much in a TV show that goes on forever.

Firstly I hope you know I love your yellow boots 😃

I dont know if you know this but during IPK days I remember when EK launched BALH, she was the one to say "I would be all for Seasons, and would not have to take leaps and that she would be the first to go for it" And its happening hopefully.

Its the channels together & collectively that need to take this call. Half the time they are warring against each other instead 😆 I think for Indian TV there is space for long-running saas-bahu dramas too. They just need to move them to day-time viewing. The average Indian woman is a stay at home viewer. And such Indian dramas would cater to their needs too.

BTW ADHY (Balaji's latest mature offering) is a seasonal show. 120 episodes declared as of now. The reason being the FL is a BW actress and has signed on only for 6 months. So I am hoping the channel and PH stick to this format. And yeah the show is a riot. I am absolutely enjoying it. Seasoned actors and a good script, though nothing intense.

Historical or mythological dramas are at some point or the other distorted or modified. MB wasnt spared too. Yet it was a major success story for SP. So is JA for Zee. And MP for Sony.

Havent heard anything about Razia Sultan. If so, it would be awesome.

Though the kostin still remains do SI or EK want to work with each other? 😃

I hope someone from either party is reading this atleast!😃😉

dd

P.S. I can't believe myself that I have such a turn around view on EK😆

Rohit Purohit roped in for the upcoming show Razia Sultan on 'Zee &'

Rohit Purohit has been finalized to play the lead role of Altunia in the upcoming show Razia Sultan on an upcoming channel 'Zee &'

There were reports and media abuzz that Swastik Production have many shows in the pipelinewhich will soon hit the television screen. As we have recently reported about Swastik Production's upcoming show which is titled as Ashoka based on the life of emperor Ashoka, there is another news about the production house that they are soon going to come up with a new show, Razia Sultan, on an upcoming channel 'Zee &'. The story is adapted from theBollywood film 'Razia Sultan' starring Hema Malini.

Rohit Prohit, last seen in Ishq Kills on Star Plus, has been finalized to play the lead role in the show.

As per our sources, "The story will be based on the life of Razia Sultan who was the only female Sultan of Delhi and about her love affair with Altunia. Rohit Purohit will be seen playing Altunia's character. Altunia is a slave and as per the customs of Sultans, Rajkumaris can only get married to good and well-to-do guys. The character of Altunia is very interesting as being a slave,he struggles and manages to get married to his love interest, Razia. He will be seen as a warrior."

Rohit has already signed the contract and other cast is yet to be finalized. They have not yet started shooting for the show but soon will start once the cast is finalized. The show will be aired on Zee TV's upcoming channel Zee & which will tentatively be launched in November."

We wish Rohit Purohit all the best for new show.

Waah waah. Rewriting history . Yaqut was the slave. Altunia was a Turkish noble who was the governor of what is now Bhatinda. He wanted to marry Razia and according to some they had been in love when they were young. But he got married to someone else. Then years later , at the age of 31, Razia became the Empress of the Delhi Sultanate. Yaqut was a freed slave who was her late father's confidant. During her rule he was literally her man friday. And she may have fallen in love with him, if runours are to be believed. There were frequent rebellions against her by various nobles who couldn't stomach being ruled by a woman. The last was by Altunia. It was more of a case of a jealous suitor than a political move. But this time Razia was defeated and captured. Yaqut died. And somehow Altunia managed to convince Razia to marry him. Meanwhile Delhi was taken over by Razia's courtiers who had never been loyal in thd first place. Altunia and Razia marched on to Delhi with his army. But they were defeated and died from their wounds in battle. Delhi was eventually taken over by one buffoon after another.

Excuse me, what does "he was literally her man friday" mean?!😕
