Diya, lovely post... I loved how you showed Paor's Thought process... Nice..

There is so much darkness in Rudra's heart and life. He got so used to it that he is scared to let it go. He is confused about what might happen if he tries to move on... Now after 15 years he sees light in that darkness... And instead of moving towards it, Rudra decides to sit down, staring at it... Because, it is too good to be true for him... Because, he never saw how beautiful light is... Because, he forgot what it is to be happy... Because, he is afraid that in the process of walking towards that light, he might lose sight of it, that he might end up in darkness again.. And, he can't take that risk. No.. So, he doesn't want to fill his life with light... He is happy where he is.. Happy from knowing that there is light. Thus, he decides to sit and stare at it than move towards light which will completely erase any darkness in his life and fill it with Brightness... That is Rudra for me... And Paro, is trying to guide him to that light, ensuring him at each step he took, that he is not alone... That she will not leave his hand.. That she will help him reach his destination. Even forcing him to take a step forward at times.. All because he, her Rudra, deserves more happiness in his life than what he already has.. he deserves to see the light... To enjoy life .. he deserves to feel loved, cared and cherished.

If you are sick and have the medicine in your hand... Your loved ones are telling you that your pain will reduce if you take it. But you don't believe them and stubbornly refuse to take that bitter pill down your throat... What do the person who loves you do? Sit and wait for you to change your mind? Let you suffer till you let go of yours stubbornness? Or do what is best for you and force that pill down your throat.. That is what our parents did to us. That is what we do to our children. That is what we do to our grandparents and parents... Situations might be a bit different but sometimes we take action for our loved one.. Whether they appreciate it or not, like it or not. Because in those situations there is no right or wrong action.. All that matters is the happiness of your loved one. I feel Paro is doing the same.. Rudra is being stubborn to accept to himself that Mala matters to him... I don't blame him... He is scared to let go and move on because it would only remind him of the hurt.. Make his wounds of 15 years, fresh.. He is right in his stance of not wanting to look back at those wounds. But he is forgetting that in the process of repressing his hurt, he is also blocking out his happiness related to his past, present and future..

And, Rudra's happiness is very important to Paro. It must be, as she loves him deeply. It is really painful to see our loved one suffering and hurting every single minute... You feel their pain, you feel the urge to get rid of it ASAP, you want to make them happy, for them to smile and you will be ready to do everything in your power to make that happen...Wouldn't we all? We must also realize, for Paro to do what she is doing is not an easy thing... She is hurting and suffering, in the process too. But she is ok with falling in the eyes of family members.. She is ok with the hurt she is feeling, she is ok with hurting others in the process, she is ok with everything ... Because, all that matters to her is his happiness.

Like Maithili said, "Rudra will be pissed when he knows the truth. He will do his thandav." I agree. And he has the right to be pissed... I would be too. But when he cools down, when he finally lets go of his past, he will realize why Paro did what she did. He will understand. And that is what Paro feels... If he can accept to himself that Mala is still his mother, that he still cares for her, then all her actions, good or bad... It doesn't matter. The end justifies the means.

If Rudra's reaction for few minutes of Paro's pain is right (I was personally happy to see it) then is it really wrong for Paro to try to relieve Rudra of his 15 years of Pain... When she very well knew, how badly it is hurting Rudra inside. How much he is suffering every day of his life due to it. It is hard to see a loved one in constant pain and that is more painful than the actual pain.

Nice post Diya...!
I take your point that Paros loss of her parents has not gotten as much focus recently as it did in the beginning of the serial...while Rudra's pain and loss has gotten more focus ...

Betrayal...by Varun...I don't put in the same category at all...because that bond was never built in the first place...Varun was a husband by a ritual...and their relationship had not built to any extent...than a mere small meeting...nothing compared to a bond that was shared by Paro and her parents or Rudy and his mom...

Coming back to both losses...they are different...one is a loss, the other is a willing abandonment...one you can understand as bad fate...that they did not choose...you are still sure and never have any doubts that your parents LOVED you...no such explanation suffices for abandonment...

The only time Rudy has referred to Paros loss...when she drew a parallel...between the two...and he said...it is not the same...I do not think he belittled her loss by saying so...he just didn't want them to be compared because they are different...

Regarding Paro pushing Rudy...I like it that she is trying...I like it that she cares...what I had issue with is not the intention but the expectation of speed...and then Thursdays episode was over the top for me...This is a sensitive issue...and should be handled with sensitivity on all sides...I do really believe that one should be allowed to take time to feel what they feel...you can't make people feel something...It takes time for people to come to terms with new realities...one should be more sensitive to their needs...rather than deciding for them...how soon they should do what...

I think the only reason the track was rushed was TRP...nothing else...There was no reason ...why it had to happen yesterday...and it couldn't happen in a week or two...or more...

Oh well...it is what it is...I think the creators do need to keep more attention to keeping Paros character...well connected to the audience and consistent...They sometimes...lack...or may be it is just me...who thinks giving people their time and their space...even when you are trying to nudge them along...to something...is THAT important...and it was a nonissue...

Very well written Diya.

It is true that most of the things shown in RR is based on Rudra and his life, his feelings.
Paro has been sidelined. What RR failed to show, you have written it very well. I hope when Rudra's life (emotions) is more settled, RR will focus on Paro, her childhood, her loss, all her ups and downs.

I don't think it's INDIAN or BOLLYWOOD mentality, it's GLOBAL mentality...A mother who abandons her child violates a taboo that transcends class, culture, and geography. It's a transgression so extreme that I don't have a term for it. ...Women usually come equipped with a nurturing reflex, and while women don't have to subsume their identities to their children, or take crap from abusive , alcoholic partners but STILL when pushed against the wall, a mother would put her child's welfare first & foremost, which Mala didn't ( left him in care of an abusive, bitter man) Didn't she think that after she leaves,Rudra might become his next victim ? Yes, she came back after a month and Dilsher had moved to jaipur by then but Danveer had his number so locating him would have been a cakewalk for her. Making a half hearted attempt is no ATTEMPT at all. So it can be concluded that she merrily settled in her new life & didn't think her son was worthy of even a THOUGHT from her. Regarding the fact that Rudra got 13 years of love from her...well...I would think that that MADE his suffering & pain even worse. THAT is WHAT would make any one's pain more INTOLERABLE & one is BOUND to feel betrayed ... First you love someone to death & then just drop them like hot potatoes...that's pretty disgusting & I don't think how it can be justified ?? Anyway, This is purely my opinion...Please, NO offence to anyone. Just felt like putting forth my views & since I am very bitter about this ABANDONMENT so if I went overboard in my ranting or sounded rude, then I apologise in advance.

^^ No problem at all ... I feel that you are expressing only Rudra's POV .. which we have seen plenty of, hence it is the one which is obvious to all. I was trying to see the other side of the picture as well.
Do mothers never leave their children for any justifiable reason? How about mothers who leave their children to pursue their careers ... are they justified? Mothers who leave their children in the care of their relatives, to earn a living to make their lives better ... the Philippine economy runs on such mothers.
How about mothers who give up their children for adoption? Not knowing which home, which family their child will go to, but in the hope that the child will get a better future than the one they feel they can give them.

This is not to say that Mala was any of these, It's just to say, there are ALWAYS two sides of every picture. And my chief gripe with the writers is that they haven't shown us the other side.

There was a beautiful track in a show called Sasuraal Genda Phool, coincidentally Sadia Siddiqui was the mother involved there too ... her character Radha, was raped by the man her husband sold her to ... she had a child from that rape, and the child grew up being hated by his mother, but was loved and taken care of, by the rest of the family. When he learned the truth, he did not hate his mother, he took revenge on his father for what he had done to his mother.

That track was what hooked me to watching SGP, and it may be the reason I'm more inclined to give Mala a longer rope. 😛 And also why I am disappointed that Rudra, even after the first shock has passed, has not spared a single thought for what his mother would have gone through during those years of abuse. In that respect, he has shown no growth whatsoever ... especially for a man who is so protective of the women he loves. His reactions are still those of the twelve year old child ... not a grown man. Most sons I know are extremely protective of their mothers, even with loving fathers. here, he has seen his father's temperament, witnessed it, even gone through his own share of emotional abuse ... still NO empathy for his mother?

Some posts here have said that how could a loving mother like Mala leave her child to an abusive parent. The other side of the coin is - how bad must Mala's situation have been, that she felt that leaving without her child was preferable for her than staying on with him?

I think assuming that Mala lived merrily in her new life without a thought for her son, is again expressing Rudra's POV ... I am a mother, and I cannot imagine any mother feeling that way. But again, my gripe is with the writers ... can we please SEE whether Mala truly forgot all about her son for fifteen years, or did she remember him, pine for him, make attempts to find him? If a person does not want to be found, it may not be that easy to find them ... but again, we would like to SEE whether Mala made those attempts or not ... at least, I would, before condemning her so completely. If the writers are bent on painting Mala white, then they have to give us reasons to believe she is white. So far they have not.

And finally ... with an absent mother and a bitter abusive father ... let's take a look at what Rudra has turned out to become. An honest, upright BSD officer, an educated man with a good career ... a family and a home of his own. For a man whose life was shattered when his mother abandoned him to a bitter abusive father, he has done well ... kids with similar backgrounds sometimes end up as street thugs. Part of it is of course his own personality ... he channeled his aggressiveness, his anger in a constructive way. But part is definitely what he received from his parents. But he has to recognise it, and start looking at the positives in his life.

Note - I work with slum kids, and that may be part of the reason for my impatience with Rudra and his constant litany of 'my life is shattered because my mom left me.' .. I feel he has a lot, if only he could see it.

Hehehe...let's agree to disagree Diya because we can go on & on to come back on square one. I feel very strongly that Mala is a very self centered , loveless woman & Rudra has been wronged big time by her & you view it differently so lets just leave it to that & hope CVs show us something that will make all of us happy 😊

Agree to disagree ! 😆 I just feel that this is a big failure of the cvs ... if they wanted us to see Mala in a positive light, they haven't done enough to show it ... they haven't made her completely negative ... she's just meh!!! And it's not the actress ... like I said, I watched her in a similar role, and she was brilliant there ... so its obviously the writing and screenplay that has been shoddy.

Rudra has been wronged by her big time ... there I agree completely ... not getting away from that at all. But Rudra has also been wronged by Dilsher, and so has Mala ... and they have just paid lip service to that aspect and to domestic violence, which is a huge issue in itself.

Anyway, since the cvs have obviously not through through this track properly, when it was supposed to be the crux of the show, no point us beating our heads over it! 😆

I just happen for whatever reason to click here and see this post of yours. I am so happy when I see posts that take into account that this is fiction and these characters are controlled by people writing and creating what they want the audience to see. I am a supporter of the show, not any one character. I think all the characters are intertwined as with any show and even in real life, as people are intertwined and act off of each other. I hope the writers get the show back on track to where the viewers are able to relate better to all the characters and not just one or two of them. All viewers will never be happy, as all people will never be happy in life but I think a majority of us who have supported this show from the start want to see success for the entire show not just a one sided win for any character.

Thank you ... I agree, sometimes people forget this is fiction and the characters are not real people 😆 Kudos to the actors for making us feel this way.

@bold ... that is where I feel the show has failed hugely ... all the characters have not been well etched and the screenplay has been jumpy and very one sided. You can't run a show on one well etched character, and leave the rest to revolve only around him ... it makes for poor story telling and we can see the results.

Bang on Diya...it's a pity that the track which was the crux of the show has been handled so poorly. I was very keen to see Mala in a positive light & I was SURE that we will get to see that ...get to see how she pined/wept for her son...how,though outwardly she looked happy but inwardly she was a devastated mother...how she tried her best to get him back etc etc ...but ...sigh...sigh...what did we get ?? Nothing ?? It's not just us, the IFians but everyone that I know , was very excited about this track but all are highly disappointed now because of the SAME reason that you mentioned...On a lighter note...I am glad we agreed on something ,finally 👏
