I agree non fiction gives them visibility but not always proportionate adv revenue. Last year when BB was running ...colours in the third quarter of the financial year actually went in the negative ! Expanditure in the show was more than the revenue earned ...I remember reading an article on the same as the tv industry was shocked ...

The top 2 channels ie star and zee are fiction dominated with a sprinkling of reality shows . Colours needs to get the balance right between fiction / reality ...purely being reality / non fiction show centric wouldn't earn them the revenue and also will be an expensive exercise.

could be because of some others factor too , like they tried to expand distribution , thats is a expensive one ,i havnt seen the financials except in this industry loss is mainly when there is a major investment that cannot be amortized , distribution is amortized hmm may be marketing expense

host i am not sure , i think they can break even with AD revenue

if you see the ADs that are aired are also different during a reality show like BB , and they bid for BB again so i am guessing they achieved their targets

fiction is cheaper but i think a few good show is better than a total change in positioning as fiction channel

looked at the financials operating profits are positive , and 3 rd and last quarter of 2013 , BB's year saw a 51% rise in operating profit , profit margin dropped

okay i should stop , too much of financial gyaan

colors have distribution problem ...i am from tamilnadu ...i didnot seem to be interested on colors before rr...and cable subscribtion problem i fought with my cable operator to telecast colors,,,,some of my friends want to watch rr on colors but they could not because of distribution problem...

I think KWK might become a single episode show soon as kapil will start shooting for his movie so maybe thats why another comedy show ...

I will try getting the article for you ...its was around the time RR was launched ...we all were concerned thinking colours financial health is weak 😆 It was from newsroom I think ...

issue is which profit is reported , the host salary is reflected in the operating profits , which was positive , i think if the article is true, miscellaneous expenses were high , or it was consolidated not stand alone , the figure i quoted is of entertainment only , colors is very financially sound i should think

this convo will get really boring if i go on 😆
