I definitely agree with Laila's conch being symbolic of a battlecry- she's almost going against Bholenath, and this is such a contrast to who Paro is. They're really going to put Rudra in between this black and white, these two women that are so different- it'll be interesting to see how the CVs resolve this conflict.

Rudra standing in the pillar also symbolizes how Paro will always protect him- she told him to go behind the pillar and change to protect him from Laila's straying eyes. This truly shows that no matter what she says, she always has his best interests at heart. Very heartening.

It's interesting you say that, because we usually only consider Rudra in the role of the protector. But the truth is that they complete and protect each other-- like Ardhanarishvara. Yin and yang. To me, this is the strongest Shiv-Parvati parallel there is in the show, and makes a lot more sense than the forced symbolism like that of the Neelkanth.

Laila, unfortunately has been cast as a demon, as opposed to someone who could have had an interesting relationship with both Rudra and Paro and kept the tension between them intact (ala Ganga).

What a lovely analysis, Choti! If I may add a few of my own observations--

1) Laila being given clothes by Kaki show that Laila is going to align herself with Kaki just as Paro aligns herself with Mala (with her kangans). Will Mohini win again? Will Rudra lose Mala again?

2) Laila's blowing of the conch was also eerily reminiscent of a battle-cry. She is so sure of her motives that she doesn't fear God even. She flaunts her conviction in front of Paro's own Bholenaath.

3) Major Saab changing behind the pillar was symbolic of the barriers that still remain between Rudra and Paro. They may have diminished, but they haven't disappeared.

4) Rudra and Paro holding hands as they sleep is an indicator that they will always subconsciously reach out for one another no matter how much animosity lies in between them.

5) Parvati, like the divine mother whom she is named after, is all forgiving. She forgives everyone everything and it is this very naivete that will eventually lead her to trouble and temporary separation from her Mahadev.
But as we all know, Rudra and Paro are two halves of a whole and will therefore, always find each other.

@bold: Word. I didn't think of that angle at all. Again it;s a kind of foreshadowing. Since we know The Dance Battle is coming up very soon. It;s almost as if Laila has already chosen the tunes to which she'll make PaRud dance.

Good job, Choti! I enjoyed reading your analysis as much as I enjoy reading your fan fiction.
I think it's interesting that Laila puts up this pretense of being the dutiful daughter and covering her head and doing aarati, but we all know that it is a facade. All that glitters truly is not gold.

Dance battle reminds me of another epic dance battle on film-- from Dil Toh Paagal Hai between Madhuri and Karisma. Not that Karisma was evil or anything, but I think it's very telling that it is the one who considers this a 'competition' who eventually 'loses'. For both Madhuri and Paro, it is a dance of joy, to celebrate love and life. It is Karisma and Laila who need to prove a point and turn it into a battle. Ultimately, it doesn't help as there never really was a competition. The rivalry was only perceived. Both Rahul and Rudra are crystal clear that they only ever wanted the one woman.

Lit analysis bug speaking, I guess?

I liked the episode too! It was sweet romance, and so significant in outlining the changing dynamics between Parud. Now that the "baharwaali" Laila has entered the equation, Rudra is constantly repeating that Paro is his, and "humaara" and all that. He's cute like that.

Equally cute was the mantra to drive away pain. Rudra fell for her naivete again!

Now they didn't show #BinaShirtMonnchiya, all the way. That's not cool.

The less said about Laila, the better. Mohini is always the bi- witch I mean. This Laila has new colours to show. The constant reference as "chamaleon" isn't the first of the animal imagery. I mean, even Rudra is called "jaanwar" repeatedly. I guess they are hinting at some connection between the two. Maybe Laila will win Rudra temporarily in Paro's absence? Hope not.

Lastly, the fact that Mohini slipped in the note through the jaali, and that too from behind the mandir- certainly Satanic. Laila is indeed, Mo's pawn, she just doesn't think so- yet. Mohini reminds me of Lady Macbeth, you know.

Nice, balanced episode that didn't raise any wars, thankfully. Ankita's acting... well, since Laila is temporary, no point in raising issues about her I guess?

Wow, Exprimere, thank you for this lovely comment. I always look forward to your in depth thoughts on the true meaning of what happens in RR. It's just so well done- laden with symbolism. The CVs really deserve a high five.

I agree that Laila really does represent a chameleon- I think the mice were almost a sign of her as well. They were always there creating noise in the background and trying to disrupt Paro and Rudra's sleep- but despite their efforts, they only managed to push Rudra and Paro closer.

I really love your reference to Macbeth. It's one of Shakespeare's greatest works. Like Lady Macbeth, I think KcM will also suffer grave consequences of her actions. Lady Macbeth felt such overwhelming guilt that she eventually killed herself, even though she was the one who really wanted the King dead in the first place. I think Mohini may also follow on this path as well- but first, her plans must succeed for her to repent.

Thank you for your beautiful comment!

If you see the promo, Paro's expressions are that of pure joy, she is a free bird, basking in happiness, but Laila has that sinister smile, as if she is out to prove a point, as if she is mocking Paro.
Rudra will of course be all eyes for Paro. After all, as you said, she is only one he has ever wanted, she is the only one who has been able to take down the wall he built around his heart, one brick by one brick, till he was left with his soul bare in front of her.
