Some things I've learnt today.

1) Army men never cry😆

2) "Real" men never cry...ones who cry once in a while over a traumatic childhood are mocked for having mommy issues and called crybabies.

3) If you have a traumatic childhood, better get over it FAST and NEVER have any emotional baggage...especially if you're a man...so what if your mother abandoned you and your father poisoned your mind for the rest of your life?

4) Don't cry, just be "macho" and ROMANCE the leading lady...all is forgiven then😆

lol seriously...it's not like Rudra cries in public, or around everyone...he only cries alone or in front of Paro...give the poor man a break. He's not a robot, and before being an army officer he is a human.

I still have emotional trauma from getting lost in a grocery store when I was a young child, and that was only one incident and it still touches me to this day, so why cannot Rudra - who's been through far far worse - still have his emotional baggage?

Thank you for such a lovely detailed response, DR :-)

Yes you were right...they showed the promo scene after all...woohoo! lol

And the bit with Rudra looking away when Laila showed him her bruised back😆...and yeah him covering her back respectfully😆...there was so much halla in the forum over Rudra catching Laila's hand as she faints but yaar Paro toh fully caught her in her ARMS...😆😆...

Honestly the real blossoming love story here seems to be Paro and Laila😆😆...already Paro is willing to emotionally blackmail Rudra into keeping Laila in the haveli...what instant LOWE😆.

And Laila is a smart one, she's already noticed the disagreement b/w RP over keeping her in the house and she's chosen to smartly trick Paro with her sob story about how she doesn't love Rudra anymore and the love was all one-sided😆

thats what, after the promo aired, so much hooplah on why Rudra hold her hand, Paro made her enter Rudra's bedroom and take the bed. too much from a wife. i do mean it this time. i was like .😕🥱

Laila has 10kg of more brain than that off paro, she has read Rudra's face that how weak he is for Paro, and how manipulating paro will make Rudra go nuts . Plus laila will definitely, soon try and blakmail Rudra, from where i am seeing it, soon Rudra will trace about laila's conspiracy, or atleast have ahint.

but i am still cringing over the fact that paro actually emotionally blakmalied Rudra and kept laila at home, how her actions never match her words. and still people think we bahs paro ?

ok i will make a long post here about Rudra/Ashish.

dont we all know that Rudra is inspired from othello ? if we know about it then, we all must know that othello is a shakespear's tale and how shakespear's heroes are tragic and full of emotional breakdowns.

Still judging Rudra's breakdown scenes ? firstly, they cannot restrict him to an intilligence officer of army only, his life has so many angles, and kudos to the CVs for dealing with every angle, especially the one which has affected his life in such a vulnerable manner.
There have been complains on how Rudra breaks down daily, or how he is not allegible to be in the army ? Really ?
the last time he broke down was back when he had seen maala's picture with tejwat, and moreover he was drunk. His father had slipped to coma, mother proved to be the wife of a terrorist, and he should not have reacted ? how does that challenge his balance and intilligence as an officer ?

after that day, his latest breakdown was in tonight's episode, and lemme make sure that his breakdown was not out of the blue, they had set the stage, he was being emotionally manipulated by his father, his collagues, his wife to let go off his fear, to accept his love, didn they provoke him to go all in his knees tonight ?

If he was disbalanced, then why do we think that he would try and push paro away from him ? why would he be curt with his father ? why would he swallow the tag of being a monster and still never allow his love/attraction/affection to dominate over his exterior self and ruin his mission ? WHY ?

let us just imagine/guess, god forbids, if our mom would abandon us, and we would have no clue of her whereabouts, is she alive/ dead, happy/sad, she wanted to take me with her or not, or am i being abandoned because i did not deserve my mother's love ? all these questions just rip off one's soul, tears out the humanity insidem because there is no CLOSURE to the wounds, to the search, to the questions. Rudra grew up like this, he said it tday that how he could never play in his childhood, never live his childhood, but spent it with wait and belief that she would come back. how tortured his soul was, wasn't it visible ?

But still we wnat him not to breakdown ? because he is rustic and has a moonch ? or because that will gain sympathy for him ? or because it is really easy to ignore someone's grief and force him to believe in present and survive ?

Lastly, this show is a drama, Rudra is an author backed role, his role as i had earlier stated, gives an impression about the hero of a novel, a play, and not about a random hindi serial. His role has many layers, and every layer must be explored, and this time it was his grief.
Moreover, he never breaks down randomly, he broke down only in front of paro, and didn't Paro provoke him to do so ? she wanted him to let go off right ?

PS:- whoever thinks that Ashish overdoes it, i cannot imply my POV on them, but one thing i will definitely say is that, Ashish has been ultra convincing and believable with his emotional scenes, his switch off from one expression to another has been so real and flawless everytime. Time again, there is no point in criticising him by calling him OTT, because neither that will take away the essence of his scene or the impact the scenes create. Only because his role overrrides the FL, does not make him faulty here. He has the potential and CVs are utilising it, thats it.

LOL the arguments being presented for why Rudra can't ever cry in this forum are HILARIOUS...seriously an Army officer can't cry? He's not a human being? And on top of that a person with deep emotional scars...he isn't allowed to breakdown once in a while over them?😕😕

Seriously I feel like people are watching the wrong show...a Gul Khan hero with his typical characterization might suit their "machoness" requirements better😆

He only breaks down ONCE in a while, man...when was the last time? I can't even remember...the hate wedding? Or actually before that I think...when Dilsher was in the hospital when he finds out about Mala...that was nearly two months ago! And these ppl are saying he has one breakdown scene per WEEK? Wow😆😆

Rudra very much falls into the mould of the classic tragic Shakespearean heroes...but I guess ppl are expecting him to be a Harlequin hero that is why they are disappointed and bashing him for crying😆

And finally the way Ashish's acting for these breakdown scenes is being picked on seriously has no logic in it to me...all I can figure out from this is that people have completely failed to grasp what Rudra is about as a character...he is as much the tough Army man as much as he is the lost. abandoned little boy looking for affection...and that is why these elements have to be brought in to Rudra's breakdowns...cuz it shows his vulnerable side.

😕😕.. either they are only army, or they are not men..😆

2) "Real" men never cry...ones who cry once in a while over a traumatic childhood are mocked for having mommy issues and called crybabies.

mommy issues are serious, and more here because Rudra was an abandoned kid. having an emotional turmoil and not being able to bare it does not make one psychologically weak. afterall thats the basic difference between human and animal.

3) If you have a traumatic childhood, better get over it FAST and NEVER have any emotional baggage...especially if you're a man...so what if your mother abandoned you and your father poisoned your mind for the rest of your life?

yes because you are second roop of lord shiv, and have a wife to bhshan you about that. or may be because your wife never has logical reactions and thus you must not react logically too..

4) Don't cry, just be "macho" and ROMANCE the leading lady...all is forgiven then😆

yes, kissing, hugging, lifting up, and every other move is granted, but you dare not break into her arms.

Ah ok, sorry if I misunderstood you. I guess I was reacting more to the general comments in the forum where people jump to label Ashish OTT anytime there is a breakdown scene of Rudra's😕

Ok so you didn't like the corridor walk? lol I guess I loved it for the drama of it...they were trying to highlight just how much Rudra is HAUNTED by his past...the DREAD in him as he slowly walks to the door scared that he will be faced with Mala after all this time...so they needed such theatrical tools to HIGHLIGHT that...a simple walk to the door wouldn't have brought that out...and I feel those were actually some of Ashish's best expressions in the epi.

Oh the less said about the forum, the better. Rudra/Ashish's fans get judged by their signatures. If that was the criteria to judge, I wouldn't take 80% of the forum seriously looking at their signatures, usernames. I dont know how DexterRocks stays unbothered by all this mocking and judgements about her. Kudos to her for staying strong and sticking to her POV. And let's not talk about the way Ashish's is put down and so is his character every other day but people will jump their guns if you dare utter a word against the FL. They have no problem dishing it out but will cry when get served.

About my problem, I have no idea why I didn't like that scene much. Ashish was fantastic. I mean you could just tell what hes feeling just by looking at his expressions. We figured it out yesterday itself that he thought that woman was Mala just by those mere expressions on his face in few seconds. So hes got to be brillaint to have people feel him and understand him. But I dont know why I didn't like that scene as much as liked the other scenes. Probably because I was annoyed by this forum's reaction. As much I dont let it get to me, sometimes I do get annoyed.

Anu, I have a problem when we start generalizing. Like men cannot do that or women cannot do this. Why can't men cry? And Rudra - he has issues. Issues that are now part of his existence.

And from what I have seen, Rudra does not cry at the drop of the hat or something. This is the first he even broke down before Paro when he was NOT drunk. I should know, because I have waited for this for such a long time. And today - the beauty of this is he has opened up to her so much that he can actually cry before her. He does not even do that before Dilsher. If not anything else, can't we see that he sees her as apna? And what I loved, he just sat right there before her holding her hands. Just made himself so vulnerable. Showed this side of him to her. What more would a wife want. And this is not something he will do everyday. This is taking their relationship to the next level. The last part, when he says that - laaut aayi...then Paro asks - who, your mother? The way he nods his head with tears in his eyes and does not even feel ashamed to show his tears and sorrows to her. Because he has decided to share this with Paro. There is no stopping him now. He let himself free there. How amazingly it was executed. And maybe from now on he will be this way.

And when did he open up. He keeps saying you don't know me. Pushed her away, showed his anger etc etc for a long long time. It is not possible for him to hold on more. And today when he again says that you don't know me, she tells him, you yourself told me in BSD office that you are broken this way. So there we go. He knows, she gets him. How much more can he hide?

I am overjoyed by the fact that we are heading somewhere in the story and their relationship here. So I am just amazed when I see that majority seem to think it is OTT or not in Rudra's character to break down like that. How is a man to show his demons then? Personally if Ashish had done anything different than what I saw, I would have not liked it..Maybe I do like such dark vulnerable heroes..You should know! 😆
