The "Poooh.. Poooh.." of chotu Ansh was so cute!

And I think I just held on to my pillow and cried the whole time he asked Paro to wake up or else he'll die.

And such a brilliant dialogue between Ansh And Rudra! Paro may love Ansh more than Rudra... But Rudra is nothing without Paro..

UPDATE!!!

JALDIII!!!!

The most heart wrenching story I have read so far. Was crying while reading. Rudra is indeed lost without his Paro. Awaiting the next part.

Ahhh sooo good!
I could feel a lump in my throat throughout the whole Rudra-Paro bit, it was genius the way you wrote it. And I love that Aman is in it too LOL, he is a must-see character. I'm intrigued to know what Maithili did exactly (I'm assuming that she knew what would happen to Paro).
I don't think I can stress this enough, but please, please, PLEASE update soon, you've got me hooked onto this story :)

Part 3-- Last Part

The dreary night chipped away, the dark night seemed frightening to him. It threatened him,...threatened to swallow him.

The dark night peeking through the fluttering curtains.

The full moon standing proud against all the glistening stars.

He looked at the cupboard"she sat atop cupboard... like a frighten new bride.

His gaze landed on the mirror----she stood there, combing her hair, straightening her dress, applying the vermilion in her partition----all with the hasty hands. And as she did that, she complained how besharam he had been last night to catch her wrist and drag her to their room while she was having a conversation about achaar with her Jija. How it was so rude of him to stop her mid sentence, as she stood in the room, wanting to knock some sense in his headstrong head, and that too...that too by kissing her. He saw her rosy cheeks turning more crimson as she chided him for leaving his mark on her soft skin. How Jallad of him to do all this things to her. "Does every married couple do this?" Her innocent query reached to her sinful husband. How do he tell this innocent little thing that whatever he does with her is nothing as compared to the "things" he had fantasized about her. Parvati Rudra Pratap Ranawat had no idea what a sinful husband her Bhoolenath had bestowed on her. She went on and on about her torn choli, her beautiful odhni being ripped, how every other day she has to sit and sew her torn clothes...

The repeated banging of the windows wretched him away from the beautiful memories of his wife

His face adorning a dazed smile looked at the fluttering windows and then again towards the mirror. And as a splash of cold water thrown his way to drag him from his beautiful dream, he landed in the barren and ugly world.

The hand holding the glass containing amber liquid shook, his vision became blurry, the legs trembled.

"Paro..."his lips broke into a prayer.

Like it did every night.

What was the difference today?

Nothing!

Inspite of his silent prayer everyday nothing changes. She no longer jumps on him at the tiniest hint of mice, she no longer berates him on his besharamness, she no longer stand against the mirror to scold him for his sins, she no longer hands him his clothes, she no longer brings her delicious food for him, she no longer stand silent as he scolded her for not taking care of her, she no longer gives him that smile which had the power to vanish his all tiredness of the day, she no longer moaned his name as he took her to new pinnacle of passion every night.

Rudra walked towards his bed and fell flat on his stomach, the inebriated eyes dropping and opening.

"Paro?..." he lifted his head, his eyes meandering around the room.

The cupboard!

The mirror!

The floor!

Everything described his helplessness. Everything mocked him for living in this room without the one who had made this small space his personal heaven.

"Paro...main...main doob raha hoon...main gir raha hoon, Paro...pakad le...hamesha ki tarah haath pakad le, Paro...main gir jaaunga..."(Paro...I...I am drowning Paro...hold me...like always.. hold my hand, Paro...I will fall... )his red and plastered eyes searched for the familiar figure who always runs to catch him, even before he calls her.

Then why not today?

"Nahi...aayegi na?...maat aa...jaa...tubhi jaaa...tubhi sabki tarah chhod ke chali jaa..." (You will not come, right?...don't come...go...You also go away...You also leave me like everyone leaves me...) he rolled, as now he lay on his back. He closed his eyes, the waters spilling out. He has no control on them. He has no control of his damned life.

As he lay there, drowning in his own grief, he felt a weight on his chest.

Rudra opened his heavy eyelids to look on his chest. His nine months old son lay there, glued to his chest. His tiny hands circled around his neck, trying to tighten his hold there. Rudra lifted his right hand to hold his son there.

"Na...na girunga main...tu chinta mat kar...jab tak thaari maa ne aas baandh ke rakha hai...tab tak na girunga main...chinta mat kar tu...waise...pakadne ke liye sukriya..."(No...I will not fall...You don't worry...Till your mother has left the tiniest of hope, I will not fall...Don't you worry...by the way...thank for holding me...) Rudra ran his hand on Ansh's back.

Ansh lifted his head from his father's chest to look at him.

"Pooh..." his head dipped forward, as if wanting to say something.

"Kya?"(What?) Rudra looked at his Son, confused.

"Pooh...Pooh..." Ansh repeated his action.

Rudra looked at him confused. And as if his Son knew his father's incapability in understanding his language, he leaned forward and kissed the tear that had rolled down his cheek.

A fresh batch of tears took their route, making Rudra's vision blurry.

"Main na ro raha ...woh toh kuch chala gaya tha maari aankh main..."(I am not crying...its just that something went in my eyes..) Rudra wiped his tears and a perturbed look took over his face as he looked at his son. "Wais ek baat batau thaare ko?...thaare ko na ladki hona chahiye tha...Tu bilkul apni maa ki tarah hai...uska raang, uski aankhen, uske jaisa komal komal, uske jaisi mulayam haath...Bada hoke uske jaisa chui mui sa ho gaya toh...toh maari toh naak hi kat jayegi..."(By the way should I tell you something?...You should have been a girl...You are just like your mother...her complexion, her eyes, soft soft like her, fragile hands like her...If you turned to be chui mui like her than what will I do?) Ansh giggled, as if understanding what his father had just said.

A small smile played on Rudra's lips as he took in his Son's giggling face.

"Hassi aa rahi hai...bada hone ke baad jab sab tujhe chidhayenge na...tab hass na tu...chal ab soja...ya phir aur doodh pena hai thaare ko?"(You are laughing?...when everyone will laugh at you than I will see your teeth...come on sleep now...or are you hungry?...) Rudra asked.

Ansh again kept his head on his father's chest, denying his proposal.

Tightening his hold on Ansh, Rudra too closed his eyes, again shamelessly asking the slumber to have some mercy.

"Paro, haath pakad le.."(Paro, hold my hand)

"Mar jaunga..."(I will die)

"Uth na..." (get up)

"Na khilaunga isse..."(I will not feed him)

"Na Sambhalunga..."(I will not take care)

"Bhookha rakhunga..." (Will starve him)

"Akela reh jayega thaara beta..."(Your son will be left alone)

"Chhod ke mat ja Paro..."(Don't leave me Paro)

"Maare ko mar na na hai..."(I don't want to die)

"Jeena hai thaare saath..." (Want to live with you)

"Chhod ke mat jaana Paro..."(Don't leave me, Paro)

"Wapas aaja, Paro..." (Come back, Paro)

"Kuch na accha lagta..." (I don't like anything..)

"Wapas aaja..." (Come back)

"Wapas aaja Paro..."(Come back, Paro)

Her subconscious mind played like a record, one after the other every word screamed inside. The voice grew louder ... threatening... pleading... begging... helpless... desperate...urgent...the voice splintered...

"Wapas aaja Paro..." (Come back Paro)

And she tried...she tried to come back, she tried to travel the dark tunnel ahead...to reach the other side...the side from where the voices were coming.

"Thaare bacche ke liye wapas aaja Paro..." (Come back for your Son, Paro)

Her hands shook, the weight on her chest grew heavier, ready to burst. She tried to fight the darkness. She don't like darkness. She wants to reach the other side.

He was calling her.

And she wanted to reach him.

"Paro..."

"Rudra..."

"Paro!!!"

Rudra's eyes jerked open. His heart thudding inside his chest, ready to burst out. Beads of perspiration flowing down his face.

"Paro..." Rudra whispered, ready to jump out of the bed but immediately getting aware of the weight on his chest.

Picking his son off his chest, he laid him down on the bed.

Getting up from the bed, he hastily searched for his cell, and before he can locate his cell, his cell came alive.

Picking up his phone, he kept it on his ear.

"Hello.." Rudra said in the phone.

"Hello. Mr.Ranawat?" the person on the other side asked.

"Ji...Aap kaun?" Rudra asked.

"Mr.Ranawat I am calling from Life care hospital. I have called you to inform that your wife, Mrs. Parvati..."

Rudra dropped the phone. The tremor like never felt before sipping inside. He don't want to hear further. What if...What if they told...No! He paled, white like a ghost. She can't leave him. He struggled to draw breath, his chest hurting. His vision blanked as he sat on the bed with a thud. His palm fisted the mattress.

"Nahi...woh na jaa sakti...usne maare se vaada kiya tha...who na jaa sakti..." (No...She won't leave me...She had promised me...She can't leave me)

"Pooh...pooh..." Ansh rolled towards his father, calling him softly.

Rudra looked at his son, his vision unclear, making him aware of his tears flowing down freely.

"Ansh...Paro..." Rudra picked his son, tightly holding him against his chest.

"Paro..., Ansh hume jaana hoga...thaari maa ke paas jaana hoga..."(Paro...Ansh we have to go...we have to go to your mother) Rudra got up, seeking strength from the innocent bundle.

...

Rudra wiped his tears, to make his vision clear. He looked at the long corridor ahead, not a single soul present there. He dragged his trembling leg towards her room.

"Pooh..pooh.." Ansh looked at his father, caressing his face with his soft hands.

Rudra's hand reached for the doorknob, the easy task of pushing the door requiring his whole energy.

"Pooh..." Ansh squealed happily seeing his mother. He started jumping in Rudra's arm, wanting to go near his mother.

Rudra looked at Parvati. She was still sleeping. His confused gaze roamed inside the room. Then why had that Doctor called him? He again looked at Parvati's sleeping figure. Anger bubbled inside him for the Doctor. Ready to blast at the Doctor, he turned around... only to stop dead in his track.

"Major Saab..."

Rudra stood there, his back facing Parvati. His breath hitched. Has he imagined her calling him or has she......Rudra stood there, no strength left to turn around. What if he had really imagined that?

"Pooh...Pooh...Pooh..." the squeal turned louder. Ansh looked at his mother over his father's shoulder. "Pooh..." his soft hand patted Rudra's rough cheek, as if telling him to turn around.

"Major Saab...Ansh..."

The choked voice of Parvati reached Rudra. A shuddering breath left his body in a hurry as he turned around.

"Paro..."his throat hurt. Holding Ansh with great difficulty as his hands ready to fell lifeless to his side. Before his senses could give up, he walked towards her.

"Paro..." Rudra sat beside her and as his hold on his son loosened, his son crawled to his mother and climbed on her. As everytime, he kept his head on her bosom and tried to circle his tiny hands around his mother.

Parvati's weak hands immediately roused to hold her son close to her chest.

"Ansh...maara beta...maara beta, Major saab..."(Ansh...My Son...my son, Major Saab) Parvati sobbed, crushing her son close to her, trying to quench the thirsty mother.

"Paro..." Rudra's hand lifted to rest on her cheek.

Pravati lifted her eyes to look at the man sitting in front of her. Her hand lifted to rest on his hand and she brought his hand close to her lips.

And that did it! The dam broke.

Rudra buried his face in the crook of her neck, sobbing like a child. The months of held tears, the broken trust, the deceive, the helplessness , misery, the accusations...all finding solace in her embrace.

Parvati ran her fingers in his hair.

"Shhh...Shaant ho jao Major Saab..." (Shhh...calm down, Major Saab)Parvati's soft and weak voice tried to sooth his months of pain.

But Rudra stayed there, murmuring how he was deceived by his own Paro, how he was once again left all alone, how life was trying to eat him without her, how miserable he was without her, how he was dying without her, how he threatened, pleaded, begged her to get up but she didn't.

"Shhh...shhh..Major Saab...maaf kardo maare ko..." (Shhh..shh...Major Saab...Forgive me...)all she can do is apologize to him.

Rudra lifted his head.

"Maaf kardoon?...Maaf kardoon thaare ko...thaare ko pata hai main kaise jee raha tha thaare bina?...Paro, thaare ko pata hai na ki main thaare bina nahi reh sakta...phir bhi...phir bhi tu maare ko chhod ke jaana chahti thi!! Kyun Paro?!! Kyun!!..."(Forgive you?...Forgive you?...Do you have any idea how I was living without you?...Paro,...You know that I can't live without you...Still...Still you were ready to leave me...Why, PARO?!! Why?!!) Rudra shouted, all the emotions overwhelming him.

Parvati stared at him for a moment, not replying to his any query. She looked down at her son, who was clinging to her, his face buried in her chest. Lifting her weak and shaking hands, she lifted Ansh's face to look at him. Kissing his forehead she made him face Rudra.

"Isse dekhiye Major Saab...humara beta,...Ansh...Doctor Saab na kaha...ki...ki agar maine isse janam diya toh maari jaan ko khatra hai...aur maare ko bajaane ke liye maare ko maara baccha..." (Look at him, Major saab...our son...Ansh...Doctor said , if I will keep him than there will be danger to my life...And if I want to save my life than..I ...I will have to..to...)Parvati's voice broke, unable to use that word for her child. "Main...main kaise apne aap ko chun sakti thi Major Saab...kaise?"(How could I have choosen my life above my son's, Major Saab...How?) his teary eyes looked at Rudra.

Rudra bend over her, cupping her face between his palm.

"Par maare ko kyun nahi bataya Paro...kyun?...Kyun Paro?..." (But...But why didn't you tell me Paro?...Why?)his thumb caressed her face.

"Main aapko batati toh kya aap maare ko wo karne dete jo maine kiya?..."(If I would have told you that had you allowed me to do what I have done?) Parvati asked, ...and the silence greeted her and the silence answered her question.

"Naahi karne dete na Major saab...isiliye nahi bataya...mian apne baache ko apne hi haathon ...apne hi haathon...kaise Major saab?" (You would have not allowed me, Major Saab...that's why I didn't told you...How can I ...with my own hands...)Parvati sobbed.

"Shh...chup ho ja Paro..." (Shhh...quiet, Paro)Rudra whispered unable to see her crying.

"Par aapne maare ko kaha jaane diya...kheech ke le aaye wapas..." (But you didn't allowed me to go away...you dragged me back...)Parvati smiled through her tears.

Rudra's lips broke in to a smile.

"Thaare ko kaha tha maine...tu kahi bhi jaayegi main thaare ko wapas le aaunga..."(I have told you...wherever you go, I will bring you back..) Rudra answered. "koi bhi maare ko thaare se door nahi kar sakta..." (Nobody can separate you from me)Rudra pecked her soft lips.

"Pooh..Pooh.." Ansh demanded some attention.

Parvati looked at her son, bringing his face close to her, she showered his face with kisses.

"Maara beta...thaare ko pata hai na main thaari maa hoon..." (My Son...You know na that I am your mother?)Parvati asked him.

Ansh looked at his mother, just staring at her sweet face.

Parvati looked at her son, confused. Her questioning eyes looked at Rudra.

Rudra smiled.

"Thaari aankhen kabhi naa dekhi na ussne...isiliye thaari pyaarisi aankhon main dekh raha hai..." (He had never seen your eyes...so he is looking in your lovely eyes...) Rudra replied at her questioning gaze.

Parvati looked at her son, who was still staring at her. Her lips broke into a beautiful smile as she plastered him against her chest.

"Maara Ansh..." (My Ansh)Parvati kissed his hair.

"Paro..."

Rudra and Parvati looked at the door as the feminine voice reached them.

"Jija..." Parvati smiled.

Rudra's smiling eyes instantly turned cold. He stood up from the bed.

"Paro..." Maithili ran towards her Paro.

"Paro, kaisi hai tu...tu uth gayi...thaare ko pata na hai main kitni khush hoon...Bhoolenath ka lakh lakh sukra hai ki tu wapas aa gayi...kaisi hai Paro tu?"(Paro, how are you?...You are ok...You don't know how much happy I am...Thank God that you got up...How are you Paro?) Maithili's teary eyes looked at Paro.

"Main.."

"Kisne bulaya aapko yaha?"(Who called you here?) Rudra asked, his words and tone rude.

Maithili looked at Rudra and got up from the bed.

"Ji...ji woh...Doctor saab ka phone aaya tha...unhone kaha ki aap ne unki baat sune bina hi phone rakh diya..."(Ji...That...Doctor had called home...He told that you kept the phone without listening to him) Miathili replied.

Parvati looked at Rudra and then at Maithili.

"Major saab, aap aisa kyun bol rahe hai Jija ko?"(Major Saab why are you behaving this way with Jija?)Parvati asked, her gaze asking millions of question.

"Paro, kuch na..woh bas...bas..."(Paro, ...It's nothing...)Maithili stammered.

"Major saab?" Parvati demanded an answer.

"Kya Major Saab?,...na chahta ki ye aurat yaha rahe...isiliye agar ye yaha se chali jayeen toh hi aacha hai..."(Kya, Major Saab?...I don't want this woman here...It will be better if she goes away from here..) Rudra replied.

Parvati's shocked wide eyes looked at Rudra.

"Major saab , aap ye..." (Major Saab, what are you....)and then it dawned on her the reason of his rude behavior. Her Jija was the only one who knew everything about her complications.

"Major saab? Aap Jija ko?..." (Major Saab? You...)

"Ha nahi chahta ki thaari Jija thaare ya thaare bacche ke paas aaye...Yahi toh chahti ye..." (Yes, I don't want your Jija near you or your Son...) Rudra s eyes accused Maithili. "Baccha chahti thi na ye...aur unhone socha ki tu chali jayegi..aur mil jayega baccha unhe...Par maine aisa kuch na hone diya...Ansh ke paas bhi na aane diya inhe..." (She wanted a child, right?... And she thought that you will give her one...But I can't let that happen...I didn't allowed her to even touch Ansh)Rudra gave his explanation.

Parvati's scandalized eyes stared at Rudra.

"Major Saab, aap ye kya keh rahe ho? Pagal ho gaye ho?..Jija ke man main aisa kuch na tha..Woh sirf maare bolneke wajah se chup thi...aap aisa kaise soch sakte ho?" (Major Saab what are you telling?...Have you gone mad?...It's not like that...She kept quiet just because of me...How can you think like that?)

"Paro thaare ko pata na hai..."(Paro, you don't know...) Rudra started only to be cut off by Parvati.

"Maare ko sab pata hai, Major Saab.." (I know everything Major Saab)Parvati looked at her crying Jija.

"Jija..." Parvati forwarded her child towards her.

Maithili immediately took a step towards her, a beautiful smile blooming on her face.

"Paro.." Rudra's voice warned her.

Parvati looked at Rudra silencing him by her gaze.

Maithili took Ansh in her arms. Her hungry eyes took in her tiny features. She showered kisses on every visible skin.

"Ansh.." Maithili sobbed, her chest ready to burst with happiness.

Parvati smiled and looked at her sulking Major Saab, who stood beside her bed. Catching his hand, she pulled him to sit beside her.

"Major Saab, Maithili Jija maare se bhi utna pyaar karti hain jitna ki Ansh se..."(Major Saab, Maithili Jija loves me and Ansh equally...) Paro tried to put his restlessness to rest.

Rudra gave her a barely noticeable nod and took her hand in his.

...

Rudra closed the door as every member left their room after asking Paro's health. He moved towards the bed where his wife sat with her son on her lap.

"Ansh, socha beta.." (Ansh, sleep child)Paro patted his head.

Rudra sat on the bed , facing Paro.

"Paro?" Rudra called.

"Ji.." Paro lifted her head to look at him.

"Paro, main...main..." (Paro...I...I...)Rudra struggled.

"Aap maare se bohot pyaar karte hai.."(You love me) Pravati smiled. "Maare ko pata hai.."(I know that)

"Parvati main...main..thaare bina.."(Parvati...I...I..can't)

"Nahi jee sakte..Maare ko ye bhi pata hai..."(You can't live without me...I know that too...)

"Phir bhi tu maare ko chhod ke jaane ke liye taiyaar ho gayi!!" (Still you choose to leave me)Rudra shouted, unable to digest that she was all ready to leave him, that she had choose someone else over him.

"Chillaiye mat Major saab, Ansh jag jayega.." (Don't shout Major Saab...Ansh will wake up..)Parvati said softly.

She laid Ansh on the bed and inching closer to Rudra, she caught his hand.

"Chhod ke kaha jaa rahi thi Major Saab? Ansh tha na aap ke saath, maara Ansh.." (Where I was leaving you Major Saab...Ansh was there with you...my part...)Parvati replied, smiling.

Rudra's shoulder slummed. He was tiered. He needed rest. Laying on the bed he kept his head on Paro's lap.

Parvati smiled and brought his head closer to her, running her fingers in his hair.

"Ab chhod ke mat jaana Paro.." (Now don't you ever leave me Paro)Rudra begged.

Paravti's eyes filled with tears, hugging his face close to her tummy, she replied.

"Kabhi na jaungi Major Saab.."(Never Major Saab...) Parvati promised.

Rudra closed his eyes, finding solace in his lover's arm.

Finally, after long wait of nine months, he was home.

So heres the last part of this Three shot. Hope you enjoyed it. Don't forget to leave your feedback :)
