Loved your post. I think the way you wrote brought more shivers than actually watching the episode.
If I liked Rudra in Sindoor, to day he was totally repulsive.

Apart from all that you have written I am having doubts how the love will develop bet these two after the power play today.

Edited..

Apart fom all that you have written I am having doubts how the love will develop bet these two after the atrocities today! So far we could at least had a glimpse of Rudra's concern, care and soem human side. But today that side was totally absent!

It wasn't totally absent otherwise he would not have run to save her burning herself beyond repairs! He wouldn't have admonished her while soothing the pain under running water. Even Maithili sided Rudra on this. His concern peeped in for a tiny second when he did tell her not to wiggle her hands so much while he was pplying mehendi just so that Paro would not feel more pain. The connotations, hidden meanings, his tone set the scene to be one of the sensual ones on TV. Else Rudra's human side was very much present. Even if wanted to apply ointment he wouldn't have been able to. He knew mehendi's medicinal properties and so took the liberty of applying mehendi in public!! But this concern got overshadowed by the sexual connotations that got attached to the scene!!

Hello All,
Thank you for your comments on my thread. I've read them all - all the different opinions. My internet connection has been erratic today and I can see that I have no hope of answering everyone before tonight's episode.
There seem to be quite a few common concerns so just a few general points which I hope will answer most of your doubts.
@ use of Rapist in my post.
My reference was to Rudra using the rapists' classic line: (as below).
And then he grabbed her other hand. Quelling Paro's tug of war with the rapist's classic line: "The more you struggle, the more you try to free yourself, the more it'll hurt. Easy, peaceful...let it happen." So reasonable did he sound the even Mythili gave her support, and giving it broke Paro's frail hold on her tears. And with society on his side, Rudra, Mehendi replenished, easily breached the defence of Paro's protective fist, surging into her palm, up and onwards, until his palm and fingers were flush against hers - every inch touching, exceeding, overpowering, completely devastating.
I found it intriguing and very appropriate that he used this line just before the strangely graphic screenplay where he physically forced his hand inside hers. His column of a hand breached Paro's rounded, clenched fist. He forced his hand up hers all the way to the hilt. Which looked to me like an unwilling sexual act foisted on a crying girl. I also found it inflammatory. Even so I restricted myself to labelling the use of the lines, which are a classic rape cliche.
I did not label Rudra a rapist. I pointed out the strangely coincidental line and screenplay.
I speak for no one else. If I had seen less distress on Paro's face last night, if I had seen Rudra soften, if Kakisa had not been there enjoying Paro's distress, if there had been honest mutual arousal if only for a moment, I would have felt better. As it is I felt winded and what I expressed is not a tithe of what I felt.
Please when you question my labelling of that line, bear in mind that I don't belong to any 'side' and have always tried to be unbiased. I am saying it as I see it. To me, I have solid reasons for my reactions. I am not over-reacting. You may think differently. And you are welcome to your opinion.
@ Chai scene vs Mehendi: I don't know if you've read my take on the chai scene, but here it is:
To me the Chai scene was in a very different class from the Mehendi scene for these key reasons:
# Paro went to him of her own volition in the chai scene. She needn't have. She could have made an excuse to Mythili - who was just having fun, but she took the cuppa. There was eye-contact with Rudra. She knew he meant trouble. Yet she was drawn enough to go.
# There was a moment when Paro could have moved away - when he dropped one wrist. She didn't. She was affected by the seduction. And it was her choice.
# And Rudra was not unaffected either. He too was aroused to some extent.
# Finally, there were no other spectators, certainly not anyone who knew that Paro didn't want what was happening to her, and who was enjoying at her expense.
@ Necklace vs Mehendi: four key differences -
# He barely touched her while undoing the clasp.
# When he talked about knowing her bangle size, Paro showed him the marks on her wrist. There was still some fight left in her. Unlike in Mehendi she was not completely beaten down. And she disconcerted him, and made him feel guilty for a moment.
# There was no knowing audience enjoying her discomfort.
# And most importantly there were still elements of seduction as he eased the bangles on her wrist. Unlike in Mehendi where there was only triumph/gloating unmindful of her suffering. And in the very next episode's analysis after the bangles, I still wrote up a blistering critique of the bangles.
The two posts for reference.
@ Rudra was applying Mehendi as medicine: Did Paro know that? Did she believe him? Did she act like she believed him? So it will not make a difference to her what excuse he gives the world.

The serial is at a very interesting point.. Hopefully by next week we may come to know if they go ahead with this sham of a marriage or if Paro has flown the coop

Thank you. 😊 Glad you liked it.
Very interesting indeed. Every day there's a new revelation now!! Things are building up fast.

Was that repulsion or was that attraction? If Paro was so repulsed by the whole act then why did her flick of hair flutter?

I wish someone could explain this to me as I am quite confused seeing all kinds of conflicting posts.

Thank you DD. 😊

I think a key issue was the distress in Sanaya's eyes and the triumph in Rudra's. At no time was there any significant transition to a different more positive expression or a softening. And that's what killed the scene for me.

this was the point I cried... both watching the episode and while reading ur post... perfectly written as always...
i too found it disturbing that some people found it romantic.. intense, breathtaking and shocking it surely was.. but not romantic.. never romantic.. not when she was tortured to those inhuman limits 😭

Sanaya Sanaya Sanaya! I am simply speechless!! 👏 Not a single word! But Paro just broke my heart...

Thank you Sunara. 😊 Sanaya was superb last night. Definitely moved me at an elemental level. But everyone sees things differently. Some have shared their opinions on this thread and I'm very grateful because it allows me to see things from their pov too.

So true...I felt so bad for Paro, it is a horrible situation to be in...

For a girl like Paro, going through sham marriage itself is heart and soul breaking thing, along with this sexual intimidation is too negative for me...

For me it is taking too much liberty just to show romance...they have to show Rudra redeem real deep and convincing...

I liked your whole episode take...

Thank you Nitya. 😊
Last night's episode was a difficult watch for me at the end. And I'm very glad to have the Forum to share my feelings. I think it's very likely that Rudra will redeem himself pretty quickly because he actually cares for Paro.

personally i am disappointed with the episode. i dint enjoy any scene in particular. paros and rudras scenes were nothing short of harassment and physical intimidation ..i wonder how some enjoyed it .

..i understand rudra is driven by reasons of his own but that certainly does not justify his actions. i understand but i cant accept it ...his senses have been consumed in his desperation to prove himself right .

i have seen people who have made a hue and cry expecting us to just treat it as a soap. that is what i have been doing! but in the name of soap one cannot turn a blind eye against such violence labelled as romance.

most infuriating of all was the bg music. saiyaara is one among my favorite songs and i have wanted it for the couple as well but not in this situation!!! it is to be played when paro reciprocates the passion . it was totally misplaced ...they should only stick to RR song..

you made me feel paros pain and anguish , her helplessness and here i am sitting with a feeling of horror creeping inside me imaginig myslef in her place ...forced to be tied in the sacred institution of marriage with your husbands murderer ! being a victim of his lecherous antics. i felt the same disgust i saw on paros face .. the question lingering in mind fill me with fear - WHAT NEXT ?

Thank you Advaita for sharing your feelings with us. 😊 I hope it helped you as it did me to feel less disturbed after last night. There were a couple of elements that really added to my horror and fury - one was Kakisa gloating and the other was the BG music. But what can I say!!?? The CVs, etc are the masters here and I hope they've heard us.
